ANDY MURRAY continues his tilt at French Open glory today and home hopeful Jeremy Chardy stands between the Scot and a quarter-final spot.

Murray leads the head-to-head 6-1 and eased past Chardy in two sets at the Rome Open a couple of weeks ago. The British No.1 has dropped just one set so far at Roland Garros and is 9-10 at Stan James for another 3-0 win while over 3.5 sets pays 5-4 at bet365.

First match of the day is the resumption of Gael Monfils' showdown with Roger Federer which is locked at one set apiece.

Current US Open champ Marin Cilic is showing signs of getting back to his best and he's 12-5 at BetVictor against Spain's David Ferrer, the 2-5 favourite at Paddy Power. The other two matches see Novak Djokovic take on France's Richard Gasquet and Jack Sock try for a shock against Rafa Nadal.

Rain put paid to defending women's champ Maria Sharapova versus Lucie Safarova and that now takes place today along with the likes of Sara Errani's tussle with Julia Goerges and the all-American showdown between title favourite Serena Williams and Sloane Stephens.

New Zealand look good for victory in the second cricket Test against England after opening up a commanding lead of 338 runs on day three. The action resumes this morning with the hosts out to 10-3 at Paddy Power and the Black Caps just 6-10 at Boylesports to grab a series-levelling victory.

Down Under it's the NRL tussle between Sydney and Melbourne kicking off at 10am UK time and there's also Major League Baseball across the pond.

      Tennis bets for today
Thinking of doing a double of Djokovic/Murry straight sets @ just over evens(anyone think they will drop a set?) would make a treble of Nadal straight sets too but looks like Ad has doubts about that.

      Doing a match winner 5 fold @ 3/2
      Federer
      Murray
      Nadal
      Williams
      Sharapova

    Treble for today

    Andy Murray – 3-0
    Djokovic. 3-0
    Murgurza v pennetta 2.5 sets.

Pays just over 3/1 at b365.

Good luck with your five fold dazid316

Chardy in front of his home crowd , on the PS Court , will not be an easy match for murray, personally would stay well away for set betting with murray match, chardy was great against isner,

  5. Ad 9 years ago

Murray should win 3-0 but we saw Sousa take one off him and Chardy has more going for him in terms of firepower/ home advantage

. It’s true i think Sock can get one off Rafa but that isn’t based on a whole lot! So don’t let me dissuade you if you have good reason to think Rafa will get it done in 3.

Dazid and Anase cheers for your comments on the other thread, just read them.

Dazid looks like your having some bad luck with those picks and late runs doing both of us over on bets.

    Dodgers @ Cardinals

    Pirates @ Padres
    Over 6 runs @ 1.41

    Double @ 2.00 *won*

    Over 5.5 runs @ 1.55

    Treble @ 3.12 (50% stake) *win*

    Rolling £10 bet
    Bet 3

    Red Sox @ Rangers
Team to score first wins @ 1.44 (£19.18 going on this one) *lost*
Very annoyed with the Red Sox this morning. Went in to the 9th leading 3-2 and they gave up 2 runs in the bottom to lose 4-3.

Main bets are in though so I’m not going to moan too much.

First one for tonight will be
    Brewers @ Cardinals
Cardinals (no price yet, expect it to be below 1.6)
    Braves @ D’backs
    Braves @ 1.95

    Double will be above evens

Basically last nights game between D’backs @ Brewers went to the 17th inning. The game started at 7pm and finished after 1am, I know coz I was watching it, all of it lol. So in effect they nearly played 2 games last night and then they both have to travel to face their next opponents.

Braves have won their last 2 on the road against an in form Giants team and split the series 2-2.
Cardinals have just win their 3 game series against the Dodgers 2-1 and the Cards should have way too much for the Brewers.

    @AD ur thots on::

    Errani to win
    Ferrer to win
    C muti to win

    Treble @3.2

    • Ad 9 years ago

I’d guess Errani will win as surface and consistency should match up well against Goerges. But the fact remains that if Goerges plays a really clean match she will very likely win as she has much too much power for Errani and her 8 year old’s serve. So it’s one I might throw in an acca at fairly low stakes, but not something you could count on as a single.

Ferrer I expect to win, but again there’s a power discrepancy that could lead to an upset if Cilic is really at the top of his game. I do think Ferrers probably too at home here for Cilic to get the better of him over 5 sets though.

Mitu I have no idea about. I haven’t seen her play ever, let alone this week. just looking at results and going on what I’ve seen of Van Uytvank I’d guess Mitu has the better chance of that two.

  13. Jaseos 9 years ago

Dazzler – Cheers for the Saturday picks, I thought they looked good and they delivered. Just wish I’d have gotten on yesterday’s!

Three for me so far today:

    BRAVES (w/Wood) ML at Arizona (w/Bradley) @1.95
I think they are great value today. After going 17 innings and setting a new game length record at Miller Park last night, the D-backs will be tired and also have a very mediocre pitcher on the mound. Granted they are at home and although I don’t rate Wood (Braves starter) too highly, He could breeze through some weary Snakes today.

    Toronto/Nats o6.5 runs @ Pads/Mets u8 runs Double @1.97
Toronto and the Nationals are 2 of the hottest hitting lineups in MLB for the month of May. Toronto in particular have a line-up that pitchers have sleepless nights about and although Washington just got swept by the MIGHTY REDS (ahem) they are much better than what they showed in Cincinnati and will want to get back on track at home. Pretty opposite story for the Padres and Mets when they meets at Petco – “The place where batting averages die” (is what their slogan should be). Two decent pitchers on the mound and so I would be surprised if the bats broke out in this one. Betting on less than 8 runs seems fine with me.

    TWINS (w/Pelfry) ML at Boston (w/Buchholz) @2.55
When are these Twins going to be taken seriously? Throughout the season I think it is them, I have made most from. Their record is excellent, hitting is hot, Pelfry is at worst a decent enough starter. Boston (big name) have Buchholz (big name) on the mound, who granted, is pitching much better lately but they just don’t hit well enough consistently. Due to home advantage and Buchholz, on whole, being a better pitcher, countered by the fact the Twins swept them just a few days ago at home, I would make this game a 50/50 so I’m getting on the Twins at very good odds.

  14. Ad 9 years ago

Few bob on Safarova @ 40/1 to win the title. This performance had been world class so far and her route to the final gets easier from here. Putting Maria to bed (wahheeey) isn’t going to be easy, but she’s just about outplaying her right now.

  15. punterpounder 9 years ago

shara loves to make it tough on herself in big games but she should be through to the next round if she wins this set

  16. Ad 9 years ago

It does feel like she might scrape through now. Lucie had the easiest put away in the world to break again and blew it. Knife edge stuff

  17. punterpounder 9 years ago

only thing that will stop shara winning is her return game if she can break lucie she should win but its down to who ever gets broke first

  18. punterpounder 9 years ago

cashed out for loss :( but fair play to safarova shes played class

  19. dar 9 years ago

Nice one Ad for safarova…got her to win just then and had a tenner e/w at 22/1….thx mate

  20. Ad 9 years ago

Amazing performance. A well earned win. Safarova hasn’t always managed to string together performances like that, but I certainly wouldn’t want to be playing her in the next round.

  21. Ad 9 years ago

Chardy looking sharp. I’d be very surprised if he can be solid enough to beat Murray over 5, but he looks like being competitive at least.

  22. punterpounder 9 years ago

yup cant see a straight sets for murray

  23. Dazzler 9 years ago

No problem Jaseos. Liked the look of all three of yours today.

i need something to add to knitova for evens

i stupidly added murray to win the 2nd set when he was 40-15 on chardys serve

  28. Felix 9 years ago

Cilic has been well and truly found out on the clay. A big serve will only get you so far without great movement

  29. The wet lettuce 9 years ago

Thanks for Set Chardy just need Bacsinszky for decent profit..i will probably cover with Kvitova win to make it a free bet.

Ad Bacsinsky playing well and noticed you tipped her…so good chance i hope.

  30. Ad 9 years ago

Won’t be giving you anything to add to Kvitova buddy…..I’m all about Bacsinszky!

Dazzler – Don’t you think that Giants, at odds of @2.15, seems tempting?

Giants at home, both teams hot with the bat. Cole is pitching better than Vogelsong this year but I watched Vogelsong when they played the Reds a few games back and he was hitting his spots very well indeed. His last 3 have been all away from home and impeccable. Perhaps it is too close to call but if it gets to about @2.25…

Either way it should be the 2nd best game of the day; 2 great hitting teams against 2 in-form pitchers. The best game should surely come from Pineda vs. King Felix, I can’t wait for this one!!!

  36. Dazzler 9 years ago

I think it’s a nice price for a home team but I wouldn’t want to back against Cole, last 4 games he’s 28.1 innings for 7 runs. I don’t think I’d sleep if I had a bet on it lol.

Definitely the best 2 games of the day but my money will be well away from them lol

  37. Ad 9 years ago

  40. Felix 9 years ago

bacinszky’s forehand is interesting. Great backhand though

  41. Felix 9 years ago

Good call on Sock, Ad. Nadal obviously not 100% confident still

  42. Captain 9 years ago

    Tsonga v kei nishikori

    Tsonga to win with 365 @ 11/4,
    Worth £20 this bet,

Tsonga was excellent in the last round beating berdych , Keis big problem is his second serve and should tsonga see enough of them he should pull through, the crowd should help tsonga also and should he get of to a good start he can do it,

Can’t see Kei winning the french open because of that second serve ,

Wouldn’t place the bet if the odds weren’t this big.

  43. Ad 9 years ago

Get in there Timea. 5/2 double with Fed in the bag. Foolishly backed her when she was a set down as well. Good times!
