IT was a disappointing day with none of the top three sides in Finland winning to beat my top tips.
I fared better with Wimbledon tips but my main one was a loser as Novak Djokovic found Kevin Anderson too hot to handle in the early stages of their last-16 tie.
It’s been a fairly quiet few days and the week starts to kick back to life with four Champions League second-leg qualifiers and a Europa League clash.
Levadia Tallinn v Crusaders, Santa Coloma v Lincoln Red Imps, The New Saints v B36 Torshavn and Folgore v Pyunik were all closely fought while Shamrock Rovers v Progres Niedercorn takes place in the lesser competition.
League of Ireland leaders Dundalk are in action at Galway in their final match before they concentrate fully on their Champions League qualifier against BATE. Dundalk will be keen to get three points in the bag and extend their lead at the top against a side they’ve beaten eight times out of nine.
Top scorer Richie Towell hit a hat-trick in a 3-0 win earlier in the season although Dundalk did draw 2-2 on their last visit to Galway in 2011. Dundalk should win and are 4-9 with bet365 and BetVictor to do so.
Having looked at the European games the best bets look to be TNS and Levadia but for the Super Single I make no apologies for doubling over 2.5 goals at Galway with the USA to beat Honduras in their Gold Cup opener.
After Copa America we’re hit with the Gold Cup which kicks off at midnight with a double header featuring Panama v Haiti followed by co-hosts USA v Honduras.
USA have warmed up nicely for the tournament with wins against the likes of Holland and Germany and rightly 13-8 outright favourites with William Hill ahead of Mexico who have been hit by a blow after Javier Hernandez broke a leg.
It’s between those two and Costa Rica for the trophy with the USA favoured. Jurgen Klinsmann’s men should get off to a flier and are about 1-2 to beat a Honduras side who look in transition under new coach Jorge Luis Pinto.
At Wimbledon Djokovic is 1-6 to complete his fightback from 2-0 down to beat Anderson when their match resumes on women’s quarter-finals day.
The two women I’m most confident about are Serena William to beat Victoria Azarenka and Garbine Muguruza against Timea Bacsinszky. The double pays 13-10 at BetVictor.
Maria Sharapova faces a tough test against American shocktroop Coco Vandeweghe who is 37-10 at 888sport while Madison Keys can beat Agnieszja Radwanska at 39-20 with sportingbet.
