IT’S week two of Wimbledon and there’s a busy day of fourth-round action as we head towards the business end of the tournament.

Andy Murray will have to overcome the giant Croat with the monster serve, Ivo Karlovic. Murray has won all five previous meetings and is 10-11 at bwin to progress in straight sets.

Karlovic could nick a set though and 3-1 Murray pays a tempting 3-1 at bet365. Top seed Novak Djokovic also faces a big hitter in Kevin Anderson while Roger Federer takes on Roberto Bautista-Agut and Stan Wawrinka hopes to avoid a slip-up against the tricky David Goffin.

Viktor Troicki’s clash with Vasek Pospisil looks good over 3.5 sets as does Richard Gasquet against Nick Kyrgios and Marin Cilic – who’s been unconvincing so far – versus Denis Kudla.

In the women’s singles there’s a battle of the Williams sisters with Serena 2-9 at BetVictor against Venus (19-5, Boylesports) while over 2.5 sets pays 2-1 at bet365.

French Open finalist Lucie Safarova should take care of Coco Vandeweghe and Belinda Bencic will fancy her chances of an upset against Viktoria Azarenka.

Elswhere today there’s stage three of the Tour de France plus cricket and baseball on the agenda. Good luck with your bets and post your tips and thoughts here.

    1.39/1 @ bet365

  10. Baggio 2 years ago

Any thoughts on Gasquet to beat Kyrgios. He was apparently imperious in beating Dimitriov in the last round. Good price @ 2.10 on Bet 365.

  11. JamesB81 2 years ago

The odds suggest that the bookies see this as the most even match-up in the Mens last 16. Since first published, the Gasquet price has drifted slightly.

If Gasquet plays well, it’ll be down to how NK reacts and if he can keep his head, game and discipline together in the face of potential adversity.

Bottomline, it’s a difficult call and it may be a match to go for some in-play action.

Yesterday’s bet lost. I was a big hectic and some of my picks hit the ground.

    Today I am on below:

    Daniel Martin for a place 1-3 @ 2.10 with 888

    Vuillermoz to beat Uran match-up @ 2.00 with 888

In-play can be good but also bad. I’ve found that in tennis you learn the hard-way before you get a better idea of players, momentum shifts, likely timing of such etc., etc.

    Good Luck

Ad and any golf fans, I was looking forward to watching Rory live at Gullane this week and St Andrews next week but looks like he could be out both events after ankle injury playing footie.
Jordan Spieth must be happiest man on the planet today and is now clear favourite at 11-2 with most bookies.
Can he handle the pressure of trying to land a third consecutive Major – I don’t know.
McIlroy’s drifted to 9-1 but even if he plays he won’t be fully fit although Tiger won a Major with a broken leg.
I still like the look of Dustin Johnson each way at 14-1 with bet365 and others.

As preciously stated, Venusia my gamble today. 4/1 and certainly uncertain, but she’s looking convincing and Serena isn’t, so worth a chance, especially here

Well my Venus gamble fell flat in the end. I didn’t see it as I was lucky enough to be on court 1, but sounds like Serena stepped her game up a lot from the Watson match. That’s exactly what I was counting on not happning! Azarenka probably has a better chance that Venus as her game like Watsons (though her best is obv much better than Watsons) is better suited to draw errors from a Serena, which is when she gets beaten.

In play the way to go tomorrow. Keys [email protected]/1, but Aga could 6-2, 6-2 her if she’s off. . Anderson has a small chance now they’ve broken overnight as Novak has lost some of the momentum and does start slow sometimes. Big Kev can regroup and if he serves well from the off you never know. Though as it’s not a tiebreak set his chances aren’t as good as they might be.

    Till tomorrow folks

Ad, I watched a bit of it. Venus played well but Serena on grass and going for the Slam – it was a no-contest really.

  41. Mr. Orange 2 years ago

Cycling: Tour de France 2015 stage 4

A cobblestone stage tomorrow. Last year it was spectacular with a lot of rain and chaos. Tomorrow will be dry and dusty and I have to go with the absolute specialists on these roads.

    Match-ups, winner in capitals:

    STYBAR v Kwiatkowski
    Double @ 2.21 with WH

Two cobblestone specialists are in reach of the yellow jersey. Van Avermaet (0.28) and Stybar (1.04) can attack Chris Froome on their terrain. Their counterparts in the match-ups are their team mates Oss and Kwiakowski.

Oss crashed today and I think he will be happy to get over the cobbles without crashing and he should work for Van Avermaet. Same goes for Kwiatkowksi, I think he has to work for Tony Martin and Stybar. Kwiatkowksi also isn’t at his best form at the moment.

Djokovic let me down for the treble but a good day in-play that was nearly very good, but then ‘nearly’ is a familiar story.
