MICHAEL VAN GERWEN survived a mighty scare against Ian White to book his place in the World Matchplay semis.
Defending champ Phil Taylor hasn’t lost in this tournament for eight years but could be given a run for his money tonight in his quarter-final clash with Dave Chisnall.
The Power leads the head-to-head 18-7 and is 10-29 favourite at Unibet to reach the last four at the expense of Skybet’s 3-1 shot Chizzy in the best of 31-leg contest.
Chizzy is 4-9 favourite at Ladbrokes to hit most 180s, with Taylor 3-1 at Coral, and over 17.5 match maximums pays 11-10 at bet365.
In the other quarter-final tonight James Wade is 1-4 at Coral to sink Mensur Suljovic (4-1, William Hill), who stunned Gary Anderson in the last round but will need more heroics to survive this one.
Chris Froome continues to dominate the Tour de France and today it’s stage 19 where he’s second favourite at 7-2 with Titanbet.
There’s also practice for F1’s Hungarian Grand Prix and Hull v St Helens in the Super League among the sporting highlights.
