RESULTS weren't great again in the Champions League qualifiers but at least I got my money back on one Super Single as Midtyjlland hit a late second to beat Lincoln Red Imps 2-0.
I was unlucky with my other tip as Elfsborg beat Randers 1-0 – but the goal came in extra time and four minutes too late for me.
There are another eight Champions League qualifiers tonight including Stjarnan v Celtic and Dundalk v BATE. I'll put up a separate preview on the Celtic game and I expect them to go through comfortably after their 2-0 first-leg win.
Dundalk performed well in Belarus and there's no doubt they have a chance after losing 2-1. They have scored in 28 consecutive matches so should do so again but whether they can keep it tight at the back is another question. Both to score is a shout here and I may be tempted by a small bet on the Irish.
For the Top Treble I'm on Celtic, btts at Dundalk and Videoton to beat The New Saints. The Welsh champs put up a fight at home before going down 1-0 and I expect them to find it tougher going in Hungary.
Qarabag were held by Rudar in Azerbaijan but are determined to get it right on the road and set up a likely clash with Celtic. I was tempted by Qarabag but after a 0-0 last week best bet could be under 2.5 goals as Montenegro champs Rudar have conceded just once on their last eight matches.
Of the other games Astana trail Maribor 1-0 approaching their home leg and this will be another close call while Steaua Bucharest and Lech Poznan are just about through after 2-0 wins away to Trencin and Sarajevo respectively.
The pressure's on Dinamo Zagreb to get it right after being held 1-1 by Luxembourg minnows Fola Esch last week. The Croat champs were as short as 1-20 to win so the result was a major shock.
Two seasons ago Dinamo won 5-0 away to Fola in a qualifier and you have to expect them to improve on their woeful first-leg display. They are short at 3-10 with Ladbrokes but should win and by at least two which pays 10-11 at Paddy Power.
I'm taking a chance on Dinamo -1 for one Super Single and another is Celtic to win to nil. The Scots are boosted by the return of Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk as they aim to maintain their run of victories and clean sheets against Icelandic opposition.
Again there are a few friendlies and exhibitions to look at and keep an eye on the comments section for some good steers regarding team news. Dundee United for example have had a dire pre-season with QPR naming a strong side including Charlie Austin I'm on them at 2-5 with bet365 at Barnet. In fact I'm adding QPR -1 at 11-10 for a late Super Single.
And later we have the Gold Cup semi-finals between USA-Jamaica and Mexico-Panama. USA and Mexico are expected to go through and I may put up some tips late on – depending on how my earlier bets go.

It’s early days, but already I have decided that Newcastle United are going to be a team to follow for BTTS bets. It’s almost like the days of Kevin Keegan 20 years ago. The only difference is that they score one less than the opposition now.
If they get some decent defenders this may change but at the moment they look ideal candidates for betting purposes.

I started off with a very low bank but its suprising how the pot builds up. and im very grateful to this site for teaching me the whole level stakes thing. Not on gamba myself bit theyve scored 2 or 3 goals in their last 4 games and also theyve all seen both teams scoring. Sagan had a bad time of it but seem to have some fight in them recently and 3 out of their last 4 have seen both sides scoring

Agree with you there Hampy, all these European games have been a bit of a gold mine for the unders. Drab and tight affairs, it baffles me seeing so many people playing the goals and team goals markets on such important, high stakes games for these little sides because they aren’t going to come out all guns blazing!

Craneguy story of my last few days mate thankfully I was able to cover it for stake back I kind of wish I covered for guaranteed profit. As Raal advise me and others before try not to look at every bet to win in full any chance of covering for anything over 50% profit is good. I could have done this on this occasion but I was confident they would score so only used a small stake cover. I think from now on any chance I get to cover it will be to guarantee profit. The new motto is a win is a win :)

I have just put a few quid on Dundalk to make the group stages @ 100/1 with Betfair :D
IF they get through tonight I think the draw has been really kind to them and going by last weeks performance they would have an excellent chance against TNS or Videoton.
After that it is really unlikely but I am pretty sure they woudn’t be 100/1 to qualify.
As for tonight, if all you had to go by was last week’s performance I would back Dundalk but as MR F says their defending is the main worry.
BATEs’ goals last week where a deflection and a 25yard screamer but it should have been closed down and came from Dundalk giving the ball away in midfield (they didnt do that too often btw).
But that would be the main concern. Any team that steps up always find that their mistakes are punished and they often don’t have the clinical nature themselves to maximise their chances but just look at some of the other resutls in Europe already.
One things for certain, I wouldn’t back against Dundalk tonight even though a price of 2.38 on BATE is helluva tempting.

However Videton? Not so sure. Definitely the lowest co-eff they could have drawn so in terms of getting a team you would want it was defo them.

Well what a let down in the 2nd half, no a big staker but had £10 -1 £5 6+ £3 RT7 & £2 RT9 corners, the cashoot would’ve been nearly full amount but £9 fi £20, even thought that was about to go at 1 point. Qarabag will be alot harder but think we struggled on the pitch 1st half, a 2-0 lead at home ‘should’ do it but no that confident, will be there next wk to see how it pans out 1st leg . They’ve spent a bit of ££ but another competitive wk under, hopefully beat them but again after last yr not counting on it. Might even stick a wee bit on Qarabag to qualify if a decent price
