JULY 2: TENNIS AND OTHER SPORTS TIPS

tennisballgeneric

ANDY MURRAY leads the British contingent into action today when he takes on Robin Haase for a third-round place at Wimbledon.

The Dutchman has beaten the Scot just once in five attempts but has proved a tricky customer in a couple of their Grand Slam clashes. Murray is 3-10 at Sportingbet and 888sport to progress 3-0 while over 3.5 sets pays 3-1 at bet365.

British No.2 James Ward is bidding to reach the third round for the first time and blocking his path is world No.45 Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic. Ward is 9-5 at Boylesports for victory but over 3.5 sets is worth a look at 8-15 with bet365.

The other home hope in action is Aljaz Bedene, a 4-1 shot at BetVictor to get the better of Viktor Troicki.

In the women’s singles, Petra Kvitova tops the bill against Kurumi Nara with the likes of Svetlana Kuznetsova and Agnieszka Radwanska also on court on another roasting day.

Also on the sporting agenda today is Australian Open snooker, T20 Blast cricket and a Super League clash between Warrington and Wigan.

Good luck with your bets and let’s hear all your tips and thoughts for Wimbers and beyond.

Did anyone see Cornet’s last game against Konjuh? She won very easily even though Konjuh was in great form leading up to Wimbledon, was it due to her playing well or Konjuh playing badly? She is much higher ranked than Govortsova and beat Serena here last year im wondering is she worth a decent sized bet?

    Warrington v wigan super league

Taking my wigan boys -8 tonight and it’s not my heart ruling my head, Warrington have struggled this season and beating leigh last weekend came at a price with laithwaite ruled out for season and Ben currie who has been fantastic this season serving a ban. Along with captain monaghan out Warrington have around 6 first teamers missing. Wigan on the other hand are close to full strength as Anthony gelling is returning tonight which in turn will strengthen our second row as Joel will move back to his normal position. Wigan had week off last week but coach didn’t let them have week off they were in training all week as he said they didn’t deserve week off following poor performance last time out.

Tip wigan to win -8 pts 10/11
Try scorer anytime gelling 13/8 farrell 5/2

Oh and if anyone doesn’t have a coral account they are offering 7/1 for a wigan win for new customers max £5 but as they are best price 4/9 this is good offer

Cycling: Tour de France 2015 (starts this Saturday 4th July)

I think this race needs no introduction, even if you don’t follow cycling you know this one. It is more of a media circus than a cycling race nowadays, but it is still the biggest race in the world. The course this year is very challenging and not full of boring sprintstages like we had loads in the past. They put in a cobblestone stage like last year, some sprintstages and some uphill (sprint) finishes in the first week. The other 2 weeks are full of mountain stages and with only 42km of time trail racing we should see a good climber win this race. Because of the importance of this race we should see some more straight forward racing without many shock results like we saw in the Giro’ d’Italia.

I will try to find a bet for every stage, backed with level stakes.

    Pre-race bets:

FROOME to beat Nibali in general classification
QUINTANA to win the young rider classification

    Double @ 2.13 with 888 / uni-bet (posted last week now available @ 2.06)

I think it will be Quintana vs Froome in this tour. I think Nibali will have to let Froome go in the 2nd or 3rd week when there are loads of summit finishes. I can see Quintana end up on the podium and with the other youngsters being far behind his level he should be the best youngster in the race.

MAJKA to beat Kreuziger in general classification
DAN MARTIN to beat Hesjedal in general classification

    Double @ 2.14 with 888

These are match-ups between team mates. The main reason to take Martin and Majka over their team mate is because Hesjedal and Kreuziger have completed the Giro a month ago. Most riders who have done the Giro will struggle in the TDF. The other reason is that Dan Martin and Majka have prepared for the TDF all season and should be at their peak form in this race.

MAJKA top 10 finish @ 4.33 with WH

Majka had some great results in grand tours with a 7th place in the Giro of 2013 and a 6th place in 2014. He also won the mountain jersey in the TDF of 2014 after Contador crashed out with a broken leg. This season Majka has focused on the TDF and he will be the main helper of Contador. I think Contador will fail to win the TDF after he won the Giro and I can see Majka being stronger than his team captain. Majka looked impressive in the tour of Switzerland and he should finish with the best in the mountain stages which could lead to a top 10 finish.

SIMON YATES to win the king of the mountains classification @ 67.00 each-way with BV

My head says one of the main GC contenders will take this jersey, but my heart hopes an outsider can take it. Their are a lot of guys who can take this jersey and it’s almost impossible to predict, so I rather take a high priced climber like Simon Yates. Yates is an excellent climber and his team says they don’t expect him to ride for a place in GC. He showed some good form in the build up races (6th in Romandie and 5th Dauphine). If he loses some time in the first week I can see him in a lot of break aways in the remaining 2 weeks. Small stakes.

Back in November I tipped Joaquim Rodriguez each-way @ 81.00 with WH

That price was far too big and he now is priced as one of the outsiders (I don’t recommend to back him at the current price). If 1 or 2 of the big 4 crash out I can see him take a podium place in Paris.

Dustin brown will lose next round, irrespective of the opponent, seen it so many times, players like rosol, darcis etc who failed to get up to the same level for the next round.
He is great entertainment though, and has a mean bob marley tatoo to boot

      • Jack 1 year ago

Well it would be 100% Brown style to get thumped 3-0 in the next round, whilst playing awful. Not sure who he has next though. But it is a warning for now at least for people not to back him blindly on this result.

Longshot: Safarova to win, Goffin to win and both players to win a set @ 3/1

Bonus: Kyrgios to win a set, Goffin, Wawrinka @ 13/10

Baghdatis isn’t that good despite his form, has a possible injury and had a 5-setter the other day. Kyrgios is very good up and coming and if he can keep his temper theres no reason why he can’t beat the bigger name. I prefer Safarova over the more inconsistent Stephens and Bencic has been outright impressive.

Cheers smiler just think in hindsight 8 pts starts was a lot maybe bookies are wigan fans too :-) I can honestly say if I put a rugby tip up I research into both sides twitter accounts, fans forums, history as well as team news and really thought our boys would win tonight I was gutted by way we performed. Bring back the chief not seen him for a while he is good for nfl tips too mate come Sept

Very impressed with the D. Brown tips on here . I got on at 5/1 after the first set . Was happy enough with that :) .

On to Tommorow and i like the looks of the Cilic vs Isner game .

Cilic to win at 8/11 nap (he’s 4/0 vs Isner)

It’s also a big server game so I suggest tie breaks (small stakes) in all sets .

I’m not expecting a breaking first set, but instead I think that both players will win their service games and the set will b long so ( double up on winning their service games x6)
I.e. CIlic to serve a win 1pt , then all returns placed on Isner to win his service game until it goes 3-3 .

Snurkz, tennis tips were good all round today. You can’t say Isner doesn’t like a long match at Wimbledon. Goodnight all.
