AFTER a week of funny results I took it fairly easy on a busy night of Europa League action.
I landed a decent Super Single in the shape of Wolfsberger who won 1-0 at Shakhtyor. They were 3-1 at Paddy Power and it looked a big price and I'll deduct 0.3pts after doing a bit of cover on the draw near the end.
The Daily Double was beaten but a surprise home defeat for Ferencvaros after their superb display against Go Ahead in the previous round. Some people will feel I should have put up more tips and quite a few teams I fancied won but at this stage I'm just happy to make a profit on the night and move on.
On Friday there are some League of Ireland games to look at as well as one in Denmark and some across eastern Europe.
I'll consider these matches as well as some of the friendlies before putting up top tips in the morning.
Friendlies include Brisbane Roar v Liverpool, Ajax v Wolfsburg and Braga v Aston Villa and as usual team news is vital before picking a result. Matches that could be one-sided include Villalbes v Deportivo, San Roque v Real Betis and Bormiese v Torino.
The Liverpool match kicks off at 9.45am and it should be another win for Brendan Rodgers' side after their 4-0 defeat of Thailand All Stars. It's the first game since Raheem Sterling officially left the club and a big one for new striker Danny Ings who will be looking to get off the mark after his big-money move from Burnley. Liverpool are 2-5 with BetVictor to win and Ings is 3-4 to net at any time.
Having looked at the Irish games I'm on a double as the Super Single. In the Premier League it's a battle between bottom two Derry City and Limerick. Derry have had a disappointing season but are 10 points better off than their visitors who have just five points from 19 games and two on the road. In 11 meetings between the sides Derry have lost just once.
Another stats-based bet is Finn Harps to beat Cobh in the First Division. Harps lie second despite a mixed run of form but should see off a side who have lost their last two by three goals. In the last 18 meetings between the sides Cobh have won just two but there have been a few draws.

However :) First biased United bet of the season in their first friendly. Louis Van Gaal has said in his press conference that no player shall play more than 45 minutes, how true that might be I’m unsure but some players may get more minutes than others. Obviously nothing to go big on but knowing us and Club America who have conceded against San Jose midweek and twice against LA Galaxy last week. I’d like to think we’re worthy of grabbing at least three for ourselves no matter who’s on the pitch at what time. Guys, just got a free £10 bet from be fair, because their system is a bit shocking at times -wouldnt let me place a bet stating that the bet had already been placed, when it hadn’t. after a minute of trying to place craneguy’s double to then see the market suspend and a goal go in, shortening the total double odds by 1/3, i got in touch with them via their chat service.

Long Live The King, re the query about bookies having people at games – there will be a local there monitoring the games either for individual bookies or for the industry as a whole to access. The person there will often be a kid earning a few extra quid which explains why sometimes mistakes are made. I knew some people who do the stats for the Scottish youth games.
Long live the king. I’m don’t know if it was found true but on here a while ago I’m sure somebody said it’s done via a telephone conversation with somebody at the game. Literally somebody shouting attack, throw in, corner etc on the phone. I could be wrong though.

Obviously it’s all outsourced and all the employees who are doing it are freelancers paid per game rather than on a specific bookies books.

Looking at the Austrian cup games this evening. Some real mis matches there. Looked back on last year’s first round and pretty well all games went over 2.5 goals. The only exceptions being games between similar level clubs and for some reason Rapid Vienna’s game. Looking a bit more in depth at Rapid’s record shows that they aren’t in the habit of thrashing lower league opposition so perhaps best swerved. Interestingly last season’s Saturday card returned 100% over 2.5 so there’s form here. Worth a small interest.

craneguy, that’s possibly the understatement of the pre-season. I don’t have the full details and don’t want them – whatever has happened I hope he can rebuild his life at some point.
