ENGLAND drew first blood in the Ashes and the wounded Aussies are out to settle the score as the second Test gets under way today.

England, who have won the last two meetings between the sides at Lord's, have an injury doubt over Moeen Ali while the Aussies are expected to have a few changes from the team beaten in Cardiff.

Alastair Cook and Co are outsiders for a second straight win, 15-8 at Paddy Power, while the Baggy Greens are 7-5 at Boylesports and 888sport with the draw paying 11-4 at William Hill.

For top English batsman it's Joe Root at 3-1 with Coral and William Hill followed by Cook (4-1, Betfred) and Ian Bell (5-1, Ladbrokes).

At the Tour de France, Chris Froome remains firmly in command and is 13-8 favourite at totesport to take the honours on stage 12 today.

There's also the likes of tennis and rugby league on the go today so post your tips and chat here and good luck with your bets.

I wrongly tipped the aussies in the first test and perhaps should have waited for the football season to start before betting as i always preach about patience. Im not to proud to now say i think england are cracking value at 15/8, just need the rain to hold off.

Yip I’m on the Poms again for the 2nd test. Have them to take the whole Ashes too.

The much vaunted Aussie attack is looking a bit toothless right now especially with Starc carrying a slight niggle too. Their batting line-up is brittle to say the least as I mentioned before the 1st test. Haddin has been a constant and his absence will likely disrupt the Aussies (Even though he hasn’t been in good form). Always gotta beware of the potential Aussie backlash but I just don ‘t see it happening.

One bed from me yesterday and it wasn’t a goodun. One more today. Keeping stakes small as post grass season clay isn’t really where I want to be!

    Hazelwood top Aussie bowler

    Root top England batsman

Stokes to score a 50 first Innings

from a competitive viewpoint I would like to think that the aussies have been kicking and scratching at the doors since last that thrashing last week .. totally unacceptable display ….time for David Warner to perform on the day …..

I’m gonna back whoever wins the toss and bats first for the win. It’s a good batting wicket so expect some runs to be scored and a good opportunity to lay the bet or cash out.

My only 2 tips for this first test will be singles on Joe Root and Chris Rogers both to score 50s based on their impressive Lords’ records and will be happy if only 1 comes in for a little profit. These prices are definitely worth shopping around for by the way as they vary hugely.

    Joe Root 1st innings 50

    6/4 stanjames

    Chris Rogers 1st innings 50

    15/8 stanjames

Not a tip, but if anyone doesn’t fancy either of these 2, David Warner would be my next best pick to score a 50. As I think he’ll get off to a strong fast start and there should be a good chance to lay or cash out.

Super league Warrington v st Helens

Nothing to split these 2 sides handicap set to scratch most places. With Warrington injury list easing and home filed advantage am taking Warrington to win at evens. Warrington win and both score 20 pts is 9/2 and whilst I don’t really like all eggs in one basket am expecting a high scoring game hopefully 28-24 to wire so having small stake in that. Finally been currie is back from suspension and has been in great form this season so having a bit of 5/2 on him.

    Bets Warrington to win evens
Warrington to win and bts 20. 9/2
    Ben currie anytime scorer 5/2

Evening Guys Warrington Wolves v St Helens

The Thursday night super league game comes from the Halliwell Jones Stadium as the champions Saints travel to face Warrington. This is a genuine pick em game with most bookies going 10/11 for both teams. If you shop around you can get Evens at Skybet for a Warrington win and 6/5 on Saints at Tote.

Saints have won both meeting with the Wolves this season and will have Jon Wilkin back tonight. Tony Smith as Ashton Sims, Anthony England and Ben Currie back from suspension to add some size to their front pack.

In the try scorer market Adam Quinlan will be popular after a hat trick on his debut but I am taking a chance on Mark Percivel. He ended a 6 game drought when he scored twice last week against Huddersfield to take his tally to 6 in 12, with Quinlan, Turner and Swift getting all the attention, I will take a punt on “Percy” to pop up with a try. He is 15/8 Ladbrokes.

For Warrington I like two players, Saints have struggled with their defence out wide last week the Giants back line scored 4 times, the week previous against Leeds winger Ash Handley grabbed 3 tries and opposite winger Ryan Hall grabbed two and prior to that both Castleford wingers scored. Gene Ormsby and Kevin Penny could be in for a big night and I will be on both at 11/10 Ladbrokes.

It is a pick em game but I like Warrington here. They are on a 4 game winning run while Saints have lost 5 of their last 7 away games and are shipping points especially out wide. Saints have a huge pack but the return of England, Sims and Currie couldn’t be better timed and they will match up well with Saints. Last week Huddersfield should have been 3 tries up inside 15 mins, the week before they were 18-0 down inside 20 mins against Leeds, I think Warrington will be out for revenge, they should have beaten Saints at the magic weekend and I think tonight they will see the job through. Warrington to win 1/1 Skybet.

    PERCIVEL TO SCORE 15/8
    ORMSBY TO SCORE 11/10
    PENNY TO SCORE 11/10
    WARRINGTON TO WIN 1/1

Good luck if your having a bet
