THIS is the latest thread from Simon Wright and GillsRob whose strategy on betting on corners has proved popular.

If you have any queries about what they are doing post them as a comment at the end of this article – and watch out for their daily tips on here or the main Mr Fixit thread.

The boys haven't been tipping every day but that's to be expected until the season starts back.
THE BACKGROUND

Firstly, it’s important to point out we are not professional gamblers following our tips won't guarantee a profit. We are regular punters who share a passion to try to build a system that delivers a high win ratio to bets within a strategy to maximise profits and reduce risks.

We have spent the last year trialling many systems and markets from over 2.5 goals to both teams to score to team goals. However, we were unable to forge a system that produced a win rate over 60%.

After a few months we realised one of the trials we were running was doing particularly well and decided to focus on that.

This was Asian Total Corners. Using corner, formation and some pitch data we were able to produce a decent system. We spent the next few months refining the system and changing the weightings we placed on certain stats to increase the number of winners we had to achieve our target of 70%.

In late 2014 we believed we had a system that worked and started to bet for real on these games. We found our picks were delivering 60%-70% winners consistently and started to show profit.

Our final refinement was in March when we reviewed our results to help narrow down the most successful lines we had used through bet365. Following the test we decided to drop six lines from both the over and under market and only run with the remaining six, which are Over 10.5, 11 and 11.5 and Under 9, 9.5 and 10.

I hope that clarifies what our tips are and why. However, and we feel this is really important. Our 70% success rate is calculated over a calendar month, therefore there are individual days and weeks which are loss making.

ORIGINAL STAKING PLAN

Aside from the betting lines the most important area of our strategy is the stake structure. We advise you to divide your bank by 12. This would then be your initial stake (which will allow you to make 12 bets).

The reason we suggest 12 is twofold. Firstly, as I said we do have losses. So if your first three bets are losers you need to have enough bank left to recover from this. The way we advise you count is simply starting from 0. If your first bet wins you move to +1 and if it loses then you move to -1.

Also you need to consider how many bets you place at once and have to have the bank to cover this. On a Saturday at 3pm with a full card we sometimes can have up to eight bets. The figure 12 comes from our maximum number of bets at any one time being 8 and also our maximum minus position is -3.

The risk you need to be aware of is if you are on -3 and you place 8 bets at the same time your bank effectively is more or less 0. So, back to your stake and I asked you to split your bank by 12, so assuming you have a bank of £120 your bet would be £10 per tip.

You are going to count the winners as +1 and the losers as -1 and keep doing that over and over and over again. With a win ratio of 70% you will slowly see it go up. Your aim is to get to about +12. Now I say this is your aim as if our tips were all evens, this would mean at +12 you bank is doubled. In reality the odds on our tips range from 1.7-2.0.

Therefore you actual aim is not +12 but just when you bank is doubled. In the example we are using, from an initial £120 bank and £10 stake, you are looking to reach £240. When this happens you can double your stake and your bank divided by 12 would be £20.

You can carry on doing this over and over or you can raise your stake by £10 every time you achieve the correct bank to do so, so for instance when you reach £360 move to £30 stake, when you reach £480 move to £40 stake and when you reach £600 move to £50 stake.

It is at this point when the strategy becomes most profitable and you then will want to plan when to begin to draw profits (after all that's the whole point) but always reverting back to the £600 baseline and repeating the process.

ALTERNATIVE STAKING PLAN

The other way you can stake, which is a lot easier to manage, is every Monday take your bank and divide it by 12 and that’s your stake for the week. This will deliver faster growth but has greater risk if our tips provide a losing week.

Anything more regular may make it difficult to track the strategy then possibly have an adverse effect on the overall performance.

CLOSING NOTES

We only post our selections on Mr Fixit's main forum. Due to busy work and family lives we share the workload equally. Look out for either of us, Simon Wright or GillsRob, usually about 10.30pm for the following day (and including any overnight). This ensures we all get the best odds and also allows plenty of time before the game.

Occasionally we may add one or two in the morning, usually before 10am. Additionally, we do endeavour to have at least one of us available on the site during the day, especially when bets are running.

Finally, there are days when nothing meets criteria, so it is a no bet day. We have no plans to make ad hoc bets in these situations.

I hope that provides the clarification you are all looking for. This system is not thrill betting. It is methodical and at times you will go a whole week and only end up at +1) which is just like winning one evens bet. It's not really for the gung-ho gambler out for fun.

However, if your motivation is purely financial and you have the patience and discipline we believe our picks and staking plan could suit you. For others who do not wish to deposit funds anymore this also could be a good system.

All the best,
Simon & Rob

Typical start 30 mins in not one corner lol

haha, i know, sure this wasn’t meant to be under…
    a bizarre game.

i was just considering putting £30 on OVER3 when the odds where 1/3 before HT, which would of got my £10 stake back if won but the corner count has completely disappeared!

doubt it’ll come back with a game like this!

  3. Alex MS 9 years ago

maybe just as well the corner market disappeared for me, as this may even struggle to get over3! ha

Just a question guys,i have been following your progress over the last few weeks, is your 62% win producing profit? Only asking as some of the odds are less than evens, and from what I can see you are only counting as +1,+2, – 1 etc,not actual points staked and points returned. Even a +1 week may not be profitable. Maybe I’ve misunderstood so correct me if I’m wrong.

  5. Juangoal 9 years ago

Ff5, can’t believe that last one lost. Saw we needed 1 more corner with 12 mins to go & was sure I’d be waking up to a winner:@(

On we go to Sunday! A strange time of year this but seem to be back on track despite only 1 from the last 5. Still on my original starting bank (just!) and that was free money from the 365 cL inolay offer. Another month and we’ll be back to the domestic leagues. Does that mean a big increase in workload Rob as the cards expand massively?

    CORNER TIPS

    Finnish Kakkonen – 4.30pm

    FC Vikingit v FC Futura

    OVER 10.5 ASIAN CORNERS

    NORWAY TIPPELIGAEN – 5PM

    Tromso v IK Start

    OVER 10.5 ASIAN CORNERS

  10. GillsRob 9 years ago

Can’t believe the MLS let us down last night as for the other game pfft!

Michael – basically we’ll have a bigger pool of games our selections to come from. Essentially it should equate to more tips, however it takes a few games to pass in each league first before calculations can take effect.

Dynamo – If it’s +1 week then sue to the odds its unlikely to be profitable maybe breakeven. Odds of 1.8 means that the percentage profit line is around 56% so as long as we’re above that its fine, but of course slow at times especially with so few games

  11. GillsRob 9 years ago

Sorry, the Finnish game is actually in the Kakkonen Itainen league

  12. Jaseos 9 years ago

Rob/Simon/fellow followers, advice time please chaps.

I have just over £14 left in the 365 account, it should have been about £30 as I’m still gutted I missed the 2 early ones after the sabbatical!

Anyhow, is it £7 on each tip, or weight it in favour of the most confident, or see how the 1st one is going after 30 mins and go from there?

    Cheers.

  13. GillsRob 9 years ago

Jaseos – sorry you missed the others. Your proposal is risky as I of course cannot guarantee either will win. I’m afraid there is no better game than the other, that’s not how the system works.

  14. Gio79 9 years ago

i just saw these.. i think i’ll just pass.. these overs can be worse than unders when theyre not happenening :/

  15. Michael C 9 years ago

2 at half time, didn’t think it would get close – cheered as the 11th went in around 90 mins!

  16. GillsRob 9 years ago

Michael C – yeah thought a double loser for sure, unexpected consolation

  17. Jaseos 9 years ago

Rob – I stuck £7 on each in the end. After today’s games I have £13.80 left. I guess I’ll do that in the future too if the situation occurs again.

    Im out lads,
Latest round of betting gave me 11 bets = 4 winners – 7 losers

Like a dog chasing its tail. My time and effort spent studying for myself provides me a much greater return.
I just completed the 10 – 100 challenge on the forum last week to show what can be achieved with some study and discipline.
I was just following this on a separate 365 account in the hope of ticking over a small profit on the side, but its just 2 steps forward 3 steps back so Ive decided to cut it loose.

My advise you anyone is discipline and a bankroll management in place.
As the old saying goes give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach yourself to fish and you’ll never be hungry for the rest of your life. !
Study the form, bankroll management and number 1 rule – dont lie to yourself !!

Rob and Simon I wish you all the best of luck with your endeavours and think its great what your trying to do, i know it takes some effort. Hats off to you !

    Many thanks

      Hi Brian

Is this due to the success on the corners?

There are always going to be rocky patches, and yes id say there is a stronger correlation of under bets, But then again that is why unders usually have a lower return.

  19. Marts8892 9 years ago

I have faith that the lads are working hard perfecting any hiccups in the system to meet consistent success rates.

Before the last 2 didnt we had a winning set of 4?

Simon, Rob I think that you are both doing a superb job, and many have profited through your system. What do we do when our Team goes through a rough patch? Do we walk away and support another Team, or do we stand by them through the ups and downs?

Simon and Rob, I and Im sure many others will continue to back all your predictions, as weeee areee spartansss!!!

  20. Brian 9 years ago

No disrespect Marts but betting for a profit / income is nothing to do with supporting a team through thick and thin ffs !
It’s about making a return on your investment that justifies the time spent and risk involved, so that little dig shows your stupidity.

I could safely guarantee I invested more than you on this system.
I’m not fannying about with micro stakes and fiver bets to pass the time !

I was running on level stakes of £60 per bet.

Just flick me a line and I will give you the full details and proof of every single bet I have placed.

I have placed the last 66 tips.

And no for your information before the last 2 bets there was not 4 winners in a row.
Just off the top of my head I think the last 2 picks were 1 winner and 1 looser, prior to that it was 2 losers, and the one before that was I winner in China.
So just shows how much you actually know, or actually follow correctly lol !
And as for stating about unders and overs lol, it’s a system that throws up either bet, so either must be followed regardless as it is giving the pick within the permiters of the system. So it must be placed.

This is an informed decision I am making, and this is the last I’m saying. As I don’t have to justify myself to you.

I wil be back when the main leagues get about 10 games into the season then I may be comfortable at these stakes with the system.
I don’t just bet for the sake of it and Im currently too busy to follow on micro stakes to test it, you can crack on.
So due to time and comfortable stakes, I will leave it for now until the major leagues open up as there’s a lot more information and detailed stats available for the full leagues.

Like is said above hats off to Rob / Simon !
They are doing some great work and I’m looking forward to the next few months ahead.

  21. Marts8892 9 years ago

There are similarities, and there was a point where there was 4 winners in a row, i can guarantee (maybe re check). Anyway I am not trying to fall out with anyone.

The morale of the story is that there are always hard times. I Havr no Doubt that you have invested huge amounts. However I would of hyperthetically tested the system with much smaller stakes before throwing huge amounts on (to Bet smart).

    Sorry Brian

  22. Jaseos 9 years ago

Brian – A little rough on Marts there but the points are valid; 1) There is no point having blind loyalty to a system just because the guys who do it are nice chaps and 2) It is very unlikely that anyone is in profit following… SO FAR!!!

I followed and will continue to do so until I get under £10 (which I am scarily close to!) because I believe they are on to something and have put a lot of work into devising a system which had worked successfully throughout testing. My thinking is “Why not? The worst that can happen is I lose £120”.

The only thing I’m a little miffed about was the constant tinkering to the system and selection process. I am a firm believer in setting out a list of criteria, back-test/paper-trial the **** out of it, make the necessary amendments, and then sticking to it once it goes live… That is just my own view on the matter.

At the end of the day, they are doing this for free and people can choose whether or not they place money on their selections – It’s that simple.

    GillsRob,have the tips stopped????????

  24. TheBoss 9 years ago

I wouldn’t expect many tips until the start of the major leauges.

Think I’m going to stop and wait for the leauges now then start at 120 (including my current bank) again.

  25. GillsRob 9 years ago

Sorry guys. Midweek European games and friendlies means we’ve had nothing for the past two days.

Also we have not tinkered with the system. We only did that once a few weeks back amd it backfired so don’t worry.

  26. trevor 9 years ago

    Rob,

I would rather wait for more games rather than bet on something we dont really fancy

Patience is the name of the game

    Keep up the good work

    Trev,…

  27. Jaseos 9 years ago

GillsRob – I was going off the info on this post Simon made a month ago:

Each month Rob and I review all the bets we placed and the bets we didn’t place (ie lines we don’t like) to see the % win for each line. If a certain line has failed to perform we drop it for that month and if a line has started to perform we start to include it.

For instance , we do don’t do U10.5 at present, however our U10.5 picks for June that we have not placed is currently 11 winners and 1 loser for June so far, so could be included next month.

Additionally we make tweeks there and then, ie after Japan yesterday we agreed to drop stats that relate to friendly games.

This proactive chance has meant we have posted profit each month for the last 6 months.

  28. Jaseos 9 years ago

Rob. It really doesn’t matter either way, whether you do or not – That’s your decision. I was saying my preferences that’s all mate.

  29. GillsRob 9 years ago

Jaseos- sorry if that came off as abrupt, certainly wasn’t intended. You are right, we do review the lines monthly for optimum performance. Aside from that we do intend to alter nothing else and let it run. Thank you for your input.

  30. Jaseos 9 years ago

No worries mate, keep the winners coming and it doesn’t matter how they arrive. I have a feeling this system will come into it’s own once the big European leagues start up again and as long as there is money in the account, I’ll keep with it!

  31. Dave Wiseman 9 years ago

Looking forward to more picks later in the season :’)

  32. Michael C 9 years ago

Just checking in! I see mattr on the main thread is doing a similar thing in terms of the staking plan. He’s doing overs trebles with slightly over 50% strike rate. Having a dabble with £2 stakes to see how it goes. I have 2 bets left on the corners. If I get to 0 I may start with a new pot dividing by 24 and trying both systems…
