SOMETIMES less is more and on a card packed with friendlies I was delighted to put up a couple of winners.

My Super Single – and well done to those who spotted it was a double – came in thanks to over 2.5 goals at Viking and Wexford not to lose at Cobh. I advised a 0.2pts cover on Cobh when Wexford took the lead so will deduct from my profit.

I’ve explained often the Super Single, especially at this time of the year, could be a double if there’s nothing I like at around evens. Most people would rather have a winning double at evens than a losing single.

I often ignore friendlies but by being fairly selective I’ve done well with them in the past week or so. My double on Saturday was taken because I knew both teams were fielding strong sides against lower-league opposition.

Kilmarnock left it late before scoring at Berwick while Ross County trailed at half-time but hit back to beat Elgin 5-3. There was criticism of that double too from a couple of people who forgot bets last 90 minutes.

Talking about the friendlies I wonder if there were markets for the Kupen-Roda match which the visitors won 26-0. Remember the name Kupen if they play any more friendlies against league sides. SpVgg Baiertal are another to monitor after they were defeated 16-0 by Hoffenheim.

To complete a good day my bets on the Serena Williams-Garbine Muguruza women’s singles final made a 2.5pts profit as the American won 2-0 as I expected. The 0.5pt bet on 2-1 was in essence a cover.

On Sunday it’s about Scandinavian league matches and friendlies once again. PSG face a Wiener side who lost 4-0 to Valencia last week so that’s worth a look if the French start some of their big names.

Fresh from their 16-0 win Hoffenheim are back in action against another amateur minnow in the shape of Zuzenhausen so that’s another to keep an eye on.

I can’t ignore Costa Rica to beat El Salvador in the Gold Cup (2am) having read the preview on We Love Betting and some others. Check it out but with Costa Rica no bigger than 4-7 with BetVictor let’s go with Costa Rica -1 AH with BetVictor.

I’ll study the league matches and look at some friendlies before putting up more top tips in the morning.

Having been at the Scottish Open on Friday and watched a bit of the Saturday action I’m putting up a twoball double. Back American star Ryan Palmer to outscore veteran Miguel Angel Jimenez and add Raphael Jacquelin to handle being in the final group better than England’s Daniel Brooks.

2pts Super Single

Costa Rica -1 AH (2am)
(11-10, BetVictor)

1pt Golf Double

Palmer to beat Jimenez
Jacquelin to beat Brooks
(1-1, McBookie)
Tie no bet
