Last night the inevitable happened for me . I got wiped out on the one match I dropped my pot on to. Honduras and French Guiana.
The crappiest bit of it was that the pre-match price which I had to take was a miserly 1/33. It’s not all doom and gloom though, I’ve had one hell of a rollercoaster ride, I made 8 straight days of being relatively disciplined and sticking to my milestone paypoints, I banked £565 along the way.
I shall dust myself off and start again. Will keep you all posted sometime after I’ve reached 3 figures.

Stung me too Nathan. I was on day 3 and bet 10 of the most excruciating disciplined money builder I’ve ever done.
Was only doing it as a sideline, to see how far it would take me.
Well, I got all the way to £27.95 from my starting tenner, and banked a fiver!
Anyway, I stayed up to watch the game.
Middle of the night, so I had the volume on my TV on mute.
It took til the 25th minute for the odds to drop to 1/12.
0-0 at half-time, and during the break I looked up to see the current group standings, and there was an *asterisk* against Honduras’ name.
Turned the volume up to hear the studio panelists talking about no matter the result, Honduras would be awarded 3 points, due to French Guiana fielding an ineligible player, Florent Malouda.
This is where it gets confusing, and I’ve tried Googling it to get an answer.
Apparently he WAS eligible to play, but not in this tournament.
Wish I had the volume up at the start of the game, so that I would’ve heard them discuss it.
Maybe @mr-fixit or @hullshaker can shed some light on this?
That’s terrible. I actually half woke up with 20 mins left and had an unusually decent cashout offer. Both teams were having a go at eachother and I just remembered the amount of times I’d cashed out and watched a goal go in straight away, I thought, this is gonna happen. Sadly not.
If I’d know about the ineligible player, I’d of scrubbed the match and highlighted it. The only positive I can draw from it myself is that 2 more teams join my C*nt list.
But from your perspective, you’ve banked half your stake, so its cost you a fiver and you’ve managed to stay on track and not really overreach for 3 straight days. You’ve gone further by about £6-£7 than anticipated progress for 3 days in to the challenge.
That takes some doing.
Now that you’ve failed this first time, your second time you should start to be able to tweak your own set of criteria for qualifying games, and do not be afraid to be brutal when it comes to scrubbing a game off your list if something doesn’t look right.
I’m actually surprised that bookies have been able to still take bets on an event that is completely meaningless. The Gold cup game in theory was a friendly/training run since the points have already been awarded before kickoff.

Was testing myself and enjoying the disciplined approached, but when it comes down to it, the ONE thing I’ve learned about football, or any sport, over the past 34 years, is that it’s NOT an exact science.
All the research in the world WON’T change the outcome of some events.
It CAN help, but we’re dealing with humans, and sometimes they’re not at their best.

Cheers @safebet I’ve raised this with bet365 arguing that fifa have accredited Honduras with a 3 nil win and either bet365 should void all bets on the match or honour all bets on Honduras with the winning scoreline.
Essentially, it is a meaningless match whereby the played outcome has no bearing on the goals and points now officially accredited to the Honduras. This also has an effect on people who have put bets on the group standings since the played out result might be 0-0 BUT the fifa stance is that it was a Honduras 3 nil win – thus the 3 goals and points WILL stand in the group goals/points and final tally, so bet365 will have arguments to face on both the individual official fifa scoreline AND the final group standings.
I have raised this now with IBAS who can be reached on 0207 3475883, anybody else who has issue with this match and result should contact them and raise a ticket.
The more people that bring this issue up, the more likely they are to act.

I think my own problem, and bet365‘s argument, in my case, would be that I placed my bet 25 minutes into the game.
Don’t know if @mr-fixit would have a view, or insight into this, but it’s taught me a lesson.
Turn the volume on pre-match in future ???
IBAS are likely to rule in the bookies’ favour because they’ve played by the rules.
They don’t judge on whether common sense or customer service comes into play – they decide if the rules have been broken and in this case they haven’t.
I’d say contacting IBAS would be a waste of time – it would be better appealing to the bookie direct.
I’ll contact bet365 and see what they’re thinking is.

My issue is that bet365 took bets on this match knowing that French Guiana fielded an ineligible player. In such cases, the official result cannot stand regardless of the scoreline and thus Fifa – ( the world governing body ) have awarded all points and accredited Honduras with a 3 nil win. This scoreline and points allocation will now be recorded in history and used which will have an official baring on placing’s /points/goals for and against in the end standings in this whole group.
Bet365 should honour the 3 nil score line as the official result or void ALL bets on this match. In truth, they shouldn’t of took a single bet on this match and closed the markets to protect all of its customers since the 90 minute result has no baring on the outcome of the above mentioned table.
Are bet365 now going to still treat this as a 0-0 scoreline when they sit down and work out where French Guiana stand when the last match in the groups stages have been played?
Its a Fifa ruling that the end result is 3 nil, not 0-0.
I feel that bet365 have exploited this for financial gain, they knew that Honduras were the clear favourites and the best ever outcome for any bookmaker is a 0-0 score line because it ruins more people bets than any other result. Bet365 had this information available to them regards the ineligible player and the customer base didn’t.
Therefore this last match equates to nothing more than a meaningless training match or friendly fixture for both sides. This then affects the whole way that this match is played from both sides, thus giving bet365 an unfair advantage over its customer base.
People always bet differently between games that have a meaningful outcome, and friendly/meaningless games. This information was not passed on to the customer and I’m probably right in assuming that bet365 never adjusted their prices to reflect this change of events.
My bet should either be settled as a winner as per Fifa’s decision, or all bets voided for all customers involving this match. I have argued my case with bet365 and they have admitted that Fifa have allocated a 3 nil win to Honduras. This game certainly wouldn’t of ended up 0-0 without the assistance of a former French international with 80 caps international experience with the French national team.

I logged a complaint with IBAS earlier, not quite as in depth as your email. Nice email by the way.
I placed a decent size bet on Honduras to win so fingers crossed they at least void the bet.
In most of these cases bookies pay out on the actual result – it’s like first past the post with horses.
I’ve questioned this before and the reply was they pay out on the initial result because they can’t wait to see if there was a problem.
In this case the issue was identified before kick-off and Malouda shouldn’t have been allowed to play.
French Guyana are non-FIFA side taking the piss and embarrassing the tournament.
Going by the rules bookies don’t need to void the bets but it would be good customer service to do so in a case where Honduras knew they’d be getting a 3-0 win before the game was played.
It’s a total shambles.
