SOMETIMES less is more and on a card packed with friendlies I was delighted to put up a couple of winners.
My Super Single – and well done to those who spotted it was a double – came in thanks to over 2.5 goals at Viking and Wexford not to lose at Cobh. I advised a 0.2pts cover on Cobh when Wexford took the lead so will deduct from my profit.
My double on Saturday was taken because I knew both teams were fielding strong sides against lower-league opposition. Kilmarnock left it late before scoring at Berwick while Ross County trailed at half-time but hit back to beat Elgin 5-3.
Talking about the friendlies I wonder if there were markets for the Kupen-Roda match which the visitors won 26-0. Remember the name Kupen if they play any more friendlies against league sides. SpVgg Baiertal are another to monitor after they were defeated 16-0 by Hoffenheim.
To complete a good day my bets on the Serena Williams-Garbine Muguruza women’s singles final made a 2.5pts profit as the American won 2-0 as I expected. The 0.5pt bet on 2-1 was in essence a cover.
On Sunday it’s about Scandinavian league matches and friendlies once again. PSG face a Wiener side who lost 4-0 to Valencia last week so that’s worth a look if the French start some of their big names.
Fresh from their 16-0 win Hoffenheim are back in action against another amateur minnow in the shape of Zuzenhausen so that’s another to keep an eye on (finished 14-0 – did anyone get on any goal markets?)
Late last night I put up Costa Rica -1 AH with BetVictor against El Salvador. It’s always risky putting up a bet you can’t cover in your sleep and that proved the case again as El Salvador netted an injury-time equaliser. I’m reluctant to bet on any more overnight matches.
For today’s double I’m going with both to score at Lillestrom v Stromsgodset and over 2.5 goals at Stabaek v Sarpsborg.
Stromsgodset are in good nick having won five out of six including home and away Europa League ties against Partizan Tirana. They have scored in every league game since May while Lillestrom’s last two have been score draws and they’ve netted in four of their last five at home to Stromsgodset.
It was 3-2 to Stabaek when the teams last met in Baerum and four of Stabaek’s last six have gone over 4.5 goals. Sarpsborg’s last two have been 4-1 and 3-1 defeats.
The Super Single is another double and I make no apologies for that. AIK Stockholm have the best home record in Sweden having won six and drawn one while Sundsvall haven’t won in their last six.
Add Rosenborg at home to Odd as they battle to clear at the top of the Norwegian league. Rosenborg suffered a shock loss at Bodo/Glimt last time out but are unbeaten at home and have won their last six against Odd.
Having been at the Scottish Open on Friday and watched a bit of the Saturday action I’ve predicted up a twoball double. Back American star Ryan Palmer to outscore veteran Miguel Angel Jimenez and add Raphael Jacquelin to handle being in the final group better than England’s Daniel Brooks.
