I PLAYED safe with a 1pt Super Single that came in – with Genk and Hertha Berlin winning just 1-0 at home.
That kind of sums up the Europa League at this stage because later in the season I'm sure both would have won more convincingly.
So while the Super Single has edged into profit I was disappointed with my two trebles hitting the bar. The 5-2 shot was one Genk goal away and the 13-2 both to score treble lacked only a Videoton in the last leg.
I may have to end July with a big Betfred Cup accumulator to tackle those losses but as always the singles matter most.
On Friday the Belgian League season kicks off with Mechelen v Bruges and French Ligue 2 returns – one of Greg's favourites and he's put up some advice re goals bets.
League of Ireland matches have been hit by Euro involvement but there are a couple of games in the top flight and more in the first division and there are games throughout Europe as well as Spurs v Atletico Madrid in the International Champions Cup.
I'm having to concentrate on Saturday's tips for the Daily Record but I've managed to pick out a treble. Start with Shamrock Rovers at a Bray side they've beaten in seven of their last eight and not to lose to since 2011.
Next I'm on Belgian champions Bruges to start with a win against a Mechelen side they've lost to once in 10 meetings. Last season they won both league clashes by three goals and warmed up nicely with a 2-1 defeat of Standard Liege in last week's Supercup tie.
Complete the treble with Kapfenberg v Wacker which looks statistically the best bet for goals in the Erste league. The last three meetings between the sides have gone over 3.5 goals with both scoring and each side's match produced goals in last weekend's openers.

Hi gents. Not much action from me over the past week but with the last weekend card of the month, its my last chance to to try and slim down July’s losses or even try to come out in the green. Write-ups for these bets are difficult and although there are probably websites to see what time teams score/concede their 1st goal, I judge it down to how bad I think the oppositions defence is, and more often than not its pure luck if they score before their time, but I’ll do my best with reasoning.
First bet takes us where I last left you, China. In fact, I’ll be opposing the side that let us down last week. Shandong Luneng travel to Yanbian where they face the in-form team of the Super League. Yanbian might not have the names like Shandong Luneng but they are a well drilled side. Particularly at home where they have beaten the likes of Jiangsu and Shanghai Shenua. Shandong as mentioned have the attack to put multiple goals past anyone on any given day, but it has been their defence which has got them into trouble this season, and its a big reason they are only just out of the relegation places. They have the worst away record in the league with 5 losses in 8 on the road. Yanbian haven’t failed to score at home all season, and even got a goal in the reverse fixture in Shandong. I think they could cause Luneng a few problems and their goal time is a reasonable one at 55:00.
Second bet takes us to Sweden where two of the bottom feeders go head-to-head in what could be a big 3 points come the end of the season. Bottom of the league Gefle host Hammarby which features two of the worst defences in the Allsvenskan. Only 1 clean sheet in a combined 30 games between the two sides, so hopefully goals are on the cards. Take Gelfe out the equation and Hammarby are the worst side away from home with 6 losses out of 7. Don’t let stats fool you though as their only ‘away’ win actually came on their own home turf which is shared with Djurgarden. Gefle are very inconsistent but on their day they can grab a goal or two (or four) which was the case in their last home game against Kalmar. They have scored at home against much better sides than Hammarby, and although I expect BTTS, I also think their goal time at 52:00 offers value.
On to Sunday and I’m staying in Sweden where Falkenbergs travel to Stockholm. The away side are a big price considering AIK have it all to play for at home against Panathinaikos on Thursday where they currently trail 1-0. Falkenbergs have scored in their last two trips to Stockholm and in 5 of their 7 games on the road this season. Focus may be elsewhere for the home side who have struggled scoring against better teams since Carlos Strandberg’s loan ended. More of a gut feeling then a stat driven tip so stakes smaller here.
Helsingborg will be sick of seeing Hacken again after losing 2-0 to them at home last Sunday despite multiple wasted efforts at goal. Henrik Larssons’ men will be eager to get the 3 points on the road with the return of his son Jordan who he has not let go to the Olympics. Joys of having your Dad as your manager :D Helsingborg haven’t failed to score in Hacken in their last 7 trips, and with Hacken failing to keep a clean sheet at home this season, Helsingborg could score before their goal time.
I’m not going to put reasoning for the MLS bets but you get the idea. The research goes in and most of the MLS fixtures this weekend are conference ties so not too much traveling involved for away sides. The only big journey is the Revs going down to Orlando but no time-zones are crossed. The Revs have scored in the 1st half against Orlando in all four head-to-heads, two of those in Orlando.

The boys from Troyes are back! They were my favourite corner team last year – level stakes on this bet last season secured significant profit as only 2 or 3 of their home matches saw less than 10. 11 corners in their friendly against Dijon last week suggests more of the same this season.

They’ve yet to win a game on their own patch but they can score on occasion with 11 bagged from 6 home matches so far for them.

Not too bad here thanks mate. I was tempted to back CRB to win but just going with the goals market. I think starting from this month I will focus on one market and hope to come up with a few winners that way. The exact goals market at the moment will probably be my preferred option

Ohiggins obviously one of the better sides in the league DT and going by memory they were decent for corners last season, cld be said about a few teams in Chile, last 3 league games finished 8-8, 4-7 (A) & 7-4. 1st games are always dodgy betting wise but last H2H finished 6-5, chile league set in 2 different phases I’m sure like winter and summer but no certain

First day of the German 3rd division today
Been looking at Jahn regensburg.
They have invested 52 million in a new stadium, and are managed by Heiko Herrlich, who got them promoted out of the Southern Regional League last season. Ambitious side who have designs on the 2nd BL.
They like to play a fast attacking style of football. Guests today are Hansa Rostock, no mugs themselves and capable of a goal or two. Judging by head to heads they are traditionally high scoring games,long may that tradition continue.
