I WAS pleased to land a Top Treble on the challenging Challenge Cup ties but learned a harsh lesson when it comes to betting on friendlies.
Livingston, Falkirk and Forfar brought up a 21-10 treble but my first Super Single went down after Celtic named almost a full-strength side against Rennes.
That went against reports Ronny Deila would field fringe men ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Qarabag. I’m not sure why he put out his main men but at least one picked up an injury and he complained to the ref about the tackles that were flying in.
There were comments from people advising not to back Rennes after line-ups were revealed and I also posted a warning about 40 minutes before kick-off.
At that point I knew Celtic wouldn’t lose so posted a second Super Single and this time it was let down by Red Bull Salzburg surprisingly losing at Mattersburg in the league – and no they didn’t rest players ahead of their Champions League tie.
There are loads more friendlies on Sunday but I won’t tip anything until I see teams.
League action takes place in countries such as Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Ireland and in Scandinavia and I’ve had a look at as much form, stats and team news as possible this morning.
Bodo/Glimt gave me an 8-1 Super Single winner last week thanks to their win at Molde and after four victories on the bounce they interest me at 5-4 with BetVictor at home to Aalesund. Both teams are pretty much at full strength and while Aalesund won the home fixture earlier in the season current form suggests a Bodo win if they can handle being in the unusual positions of favourites.
Odd v Tromso looks good for both to score for a fifth time in a row in the playing of this fixture and in May it was 2-2 at Tromso.
Rosenborg should win at Sandefjord but are no bigger than 2-5 at BetVictor while Stromsgodset v Molde is off ahead of Molde’s visit to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday.
For the Top Treble I’m on both to score at Odd plus wins for Rosenborg and Charleroi. The Belgians are at home to a Mouscron side who just survived the drop last season.
Charleroi did superbly to finish in the top six and in their opening Europa League qualifier thumped Beitar Jerusalem 9-2 on aggregate. They should win this and possibly by more than one.
Just after midnight Mexico meet Jamaica in the Gold CUp Final and I’ll consider putting up some tips. We Love betting have a full preview and I’m in agreement with them about Mexico not winning against the side that beat the USA in the semi-finals.
