IT’s been a couple of quiet days but Tuesday brings us nine Champions League qualifiers and one in the Europa League.
On Monday my Super Single was a disappointment with Djurgaardens not covering the handicap against Atvidabergs but my twoball golf treble was a 13-2 winner thanks to Anirban Lahiri, Justin Rose and Zach Johnson. My main tip for The Open, 25-1 chance Louis Oosthuizen, lost in a play-off but of course gave me a place success.
And so to Tuesday. There were some strange first-leg results with the likes of Ludogorets losing at home to Milsami, Malmo being held in Sweden by Zalgiris and Midtyjlland managing to beat Gibraltar champs Lincoln Red Imps by only one goal at home.
Other matches include HJK v Ventspils, Crusaders v Skenderbeu and in the Europa League Elfsborg v Randers. Later it’s New York Red Bulls v Philadelphia in the US Open Cup and there are the usual raft of friendlies.
For the Super Single I’ve decided to go with Elfsborg at home to Randers. The first leg in Denmark finished 0-0 and it was a result the Swedes were happy with.
Their strength lies at home and in the previous round they beat Lahti 5-0 on their plastic pitch. Elfsborg have won six and drawn three of their last nine in front of their own fans with a total of 23 goals scores.
Randers are rated slighty higher on the co-efficients but I’m banking on home advantage to swing the tie Elfsborg’s way.
I’m tempted by Malmo at Zalgiris but after their first-leg draw it’s too risky and the same goes for Partizan at Dila Gori.
I keep coming back to Midtyjlland who I still can’t believe netted just once at home to Red Imps. It was their first competitive game of the season so they’d be rusty and at the weekend beat Viborg 2-0 in their opening league match.
Hopefullly they’ve got some sharpness back and even at 1-4 with BetVictor the Danish champions look a good bet. They don’t need to bust a gut but even an average display should produce a convincing win for Midtyjlland especially if their opponents try to attack. I’m willing to risk 1pt on the Danes -2 AH at 27-20 with bet365.
For a Top Treble take Midtyjlland to win and New York Red Bull against Philadelphia. Red Bulls have won five out of six while Union’s only away win in 10 was at New York but they travel for this cup tie missing a few players including CS Sapong.
Complete the treble with both to score at Crusaders v Slenderbeu. It was 4-1 to the Albanians in the first leg so the Irish side have nothing to lose by going for goals. If they attack they’ll concede too.
A friendly that could be of interest tonight is Rangers v Burnley. The English side should be too good if they field a strong line-up so check teams before having a bet. Plenty of people though are already going against Mark Warburton’s Scots with Burnley down to even almost everywhere except William Hill who offer 15-13.
