Jul 21: Mr Fixit’s Top Tips

MRF_TopTips_Genting
MY challenge was to recoup the 5pts I lost on Celtic in Gibraltar last week – and I managed it.
With hesitation I put a 10pts Super Single on Celtic -2 against Red Imps and while the scoreline suggests it just came in there was night and day between the two sides.
Celtic next face Astana and that will be far tougher. The Hoops are 7-4 with Ladbrokes to reach the group stage but will need to show significant improvement and get a few players in.
It was a good night all round with the both to score 21-5 treble landing … and Sam Allardyce getting the England job to boost Scotland’s World Cup chances!
Many contributors put up winners as well as Jordan whose China goal tip came in.
More of the same on Thursday will be welcome and it’s all about the Europa League. I’ve posted a preview covering some of the British teams and have picked out top tips.
For the both to score treble I’m starting with Grasshoppers v KR Reykjavik which was 3-3 in the first leg. KR are in good form and have netted 10 goals in their last two away games so should give it their best shot in Switzerland.
Add Cork v Hacken. The Swedes are expected to win this but Cork will give them a good fight. It was 1-1 in the first leg after the home side were reduced to 10 men so Hacken will need to go for it.
I’m taking a risk in completing the treble with Brondby v Hibs. As we know Brondby won 1-0 in Edinburgh but Hibs had a perfectly good goal disallowed and played well after conceding in 16 seconds.
Neil Lennon will instruct his men to give it their best shot so hopefully they’ll score but are likely to concede. Alternatives to Hibs-Brondby if this one makes you nervous are Hajduk Split v CSMS Iasi, Slavia Prague v Levadia Tallinn and Torpedo ZH v Debrecen.
The Top Treble features Hearts at home to Birkirkara and Vojvodina at Connah’s Quay with reasoning on the El preview. Add AIK at College Europa hopefully to add to their 1-0 goal lead.
Celtic lost to Red Imps on the same pitch last week so we know the difficulties involved but there really is no comparison between the teams and Europa are much weaker than Red Imps.
For a Super Single I’m thinking about Dinamo Minsk at St Patrick’s after a 1-1 draw but haven’t made up my mind as yet.

I wasn’t going to have a bet today but still feel there is value despite losing their top goalscorer for the season. Demba Ba suffered a horrific fracture the other day, so the Super Leagues top goalscorer (14) will obviously be missed. They will however take heart that they still have ‘world names’ in their side such as Freddy Guarin and Obafemi Martins, who will likely start with Ba out. Shijiazhuang are one of the worst sides in the league, and with only 13 goals this season, they will need some luck to survive the drop by the end of the term.

Without Ba I Won’t be backing the Shenua win but I still feel they could get goals, and I’ll chance the goal time.

Nice one Jordan, your on a roll at the moment.
If you hadn’t started throwing crazy 10 point bets chasing, then you would probably be in profit this month as I reckon you’ve won more bets than lost, or pretty close now.
It’s very unlike you to do that too, from what I’ve saw since I’ve been following.
I really like these team goal time bets, as they always have a chance and you seem to pick the right ones at very good odds.

    Keep them coming mate.

    • Profile photo of Jordan
      Jordan 5 months ago

Oozie, maybe, maybe not. Beauty of hindsight, imagine if I had stopped last week at -40? The fact is I’m about 28 points better off which I will happily take. I’ve also grown fond of this market. Just find its almost the best value for money bet. You only need one thing to happen (obviously you can bet the team just to score but you don’t get as good odds) and you just have to hope that they start firing early. As in my post below, 365 aren’t doing the market for many of the Europa League games dead ball. Only one I can see is Brondy to score before 39:00 against Hibs.

  16. Profile photo of Jordan
    Jordan 5 months ago

I don’t think 365 are going to offer any dead ball goal times for the Europa League games tonight but pretty sure they will when they go live. I was looking at Cork City at home to Hacken who gave a good account of themselves in Sweden last week. The Swedes aren’t the best travelers in the league with only one clean sheet away from home this season, that being their 0-0 draw against Orebro on the 17th. They do have some goalscorers upfront though, and with the tie at 1-1, I think this could be a good game for goals with Hacken having to score.

    Afternoon gents,

Jordan, well done for your resilience Sir…I was keeping my points totalled these last few months (and doing alright) until midway though the Euros and got down to around -30 before deciding:

    a. It was taking the fun out of selecting/posting.

    b. My totals were sh*te.

As soon as I stopped posting points staked/totals, I’ve done infinately better and enjoyed posting/researching more so hats off to sticking at it and pulling the figures around pal.

    On with the programme…

Full house over in Iceland last night again and I’m taking a look at a 4 Deild game featuring a team that let me down for goals last time out so worth bearing in mind…

    STÁL-ÚLFUR VS. ÍSBJÖRNINN (21.00 KO):

These two met just over a month ago in a game that Stal-Ulfur won by the odd goal in 9 (4-5 final score). The previous 5 H2H MGS read: 9-4-4-2-6.

Recent MGS form for each is as follows:

    Stal-Ulfur: 3-8-10-9-6-4-6-3-4
    Isbjorninn: 5-5-7-9-7-9-5-3-5

I’m thinking 6 goals is a realistic target and 365 do offer GL 6 at 1.900 which I’ll take but I’ll probably see what markets Coral put up later prior to KO.

    Good luck with all bets.

Was win one lose one on my doubles last night, so thanks to @HullShaker, @waddo and @Jordan for keeping me in profit, great stuff all round.

Not generally keen on Europa but have noticed one stand out price for me:

AIK are 10/11 with 365 to keep a clean sheet against College Europa, who are the second best team in Gibraltar and a long way behind Lincoln Red Imps. Seems like good value to me?

    Slavia Prague v Levadia

    Bet 1:

    Over 5.5 first half corners

    20/21

    Bet 2:

    Over 11.5 full time corners

    10/11

Prague trail 3-1 and need to come flying out of the traps to cut the deficit. They managed 16 corners in the reverse leg and I fancy more of the same tonight.

I couldn’t decide between the 2 so have gone for both as I think they should both come in.

May jump on ‘race to’ bets inplay if the price is favourable.

    Evening gents

Haven’t had time to have a proper look over the last few days so haven’t posted anything, hopefully find something tomorrow!

Hard line Hibs tonight, best away result a Scottish team has had in Europe since we beat Rosenborg 1-0 three seasons ago!

Hearts on the other hand, brutal! The Maltese team are no mugs but you can’t be getting beat 2-1 at home from them! Hearts won’t be anywhere near 3rd place next season that’s for sure

Matter of opinion of course but Aberdeen beat Rijeka 3 – 0 last season who hadn’t lost at home for months and haven’t since!

Tell me about it. Ruined a 4 fold for 200 or so. Gutted. 24 shots. Madness.

Stal-Ulfur game finished a measly 4-0 and despite the massive goals potential, it did come with the warning that they’d done me in the last game… the GL of 6 is a loser but note corners were big for future reference.

More success with the Youth selection on-play:

I see Briedablik Youth are 1 down early doors but I had them down for a comfortable win…13/8 now and I’ll take that on 👍

    **WON**

    Well done all winners.

craneguy, those finals seem a million years ago now.
Scots clubs lucky to make final qualifying these days.
TV money or lack of it plays a part but not when losing to teams from Gibraltar and Malta.
Fergie’s hairdryer would have been turned up full.
