FANS love this weekend with big cup games north and south of the border but it’s not so good for punters with English clubs especially set to rotate squads.
So team news is vital and check as much of it as possible this morning before placing your bets.
It might be a day to focus on goals rather than WDW bets. And I’ve included a couple of lower-league games and National League picks.
I’m not putting up all my usual tips from my Daily Record simply because print-wise I have a Friday 5pm deadline and no opportunity to update selections.
The beauty of the internet is I can make last-minute additions and that may be the plan today once line-ups start to be revealed. At the moment my game Clydebank v Greenock is on so I won;t be around to relay that info.
I’ve posted separate previews on the FA Cup and Scottish Cup games. The big guns in Scotland – barring maybe Celtic – will field full-strength teams as cup runs are vital financially.
In England it’s a different story and the Premier League clubs also have games midweek. I’ve already established the likes of Stoke, Bournemouth, Everton, Man United as well as Arsenal and Sunderland who meet at the Emirates will rotate their squads.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is the only one I’ve seen come out and big up the FA Cup so I’m happy to back them at a decent price at home to Wolves. West Brom manager Tony Pulis is hinting at taking it seriously and his side should be fine against Bristol City.
So here’s what I have for now with the Top Treble and Super Single staying in Scotland. I agree with Damian Walkr about East Stirling being massive at almost 3-1 at Montrose so that’s one pick – and there may be more.
On Friday my luck again ran out with Partick Thistle -1AH being a void bet after St Mirren netted a late consolation. I was working so couldn’t advise cover but as Greg Browning pointed out a Buddies goal paid 8-1.
My speculative 1pt double on anytime scorers Zlatan Ibrahmovic and Christian Benteke was the only loser.
So here are today’s tips and the advice is to take it easy. Also some games may be hit by the weather with Dundee v Falkirk and East Kilbride v Lothian Thistle early cup fallers.
