WE all had our opinions about Spurs v Chelsea and well done to those who called it correctly.
As far as the main tipsters are concerned myself and Jordan were wrong and Greg was spot on with his assertion there would be 2-3 goals.
On Thursday the TV game is Doncaster v Portsmouth in English League Two and that's a tough one to call. In the Spanish Cup Barcelona travel to Athletic Bilbao for a first-leg Spanish Cup and I want to see the starting XIs before considering a bet.
Barca have taken almost a full-strength squad of 18 including Arda Turan and the MSN attacking trio but whether Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all start isn't known. As it stands I'd be tempted by both to score but if Barca go with MSN they should win at a difficult venue.
It's still looking like a no-bet day unless I see line-ups before going out to watch the game.

Be interested to see what Greg fancies here as know he does have a bit of an interest/knowledge of Pompey – ironically, I think it is cut out for the 2-3 goals market he advocated earlier for tonight’s game!
One thing I know that was good for the last few seasons was Portsmouth were always good for a goal on their travels and that seems still to be the case although it is usually a lesser amount of goals this season.
If you discount their initial 2 away games, Pompey have scored in 80% of the subsequent matches that they have played on the road.
Donny are having a blinder!
I’ve always had a soft spot for Rovers and the town itself…do a bit of work there still and once courted a Donny lass years ago who had a voice deeper than mine and could beat anyone in the pub at arm wrestling…happy days.
Back then, the club were on the bones of their arse and close to going out of existence so it is good to see them in happier times.
Rovers sit top but despite some dominant performances, they can’t appear to string together a really sustained run to take them clear of the chasing pack…including Pompey themselves.
This in itself might give us the best pointer in the game with neither side likely to win ‘clearly’ coupled with relatively low scoring games – of the last 12 games (6 each) both teams have been involved in, only 1 saw more than 3 goals!

Couldn’t have been more wrong really but hey ho. Feel Chelsea had the chance to go up a couple times in the first half, but like I was saying on the Other Sports thread today, you need luck in betting, and I had none.
Small card today but a game I fancy for goals this morning in the A-League see’s Perth host the Phoenix. Wellington will likely give Kiwi international Shane Smeltz an appearance, but whether he will start is unknown to me.
Perth won the earlier tie 2-0 but it wasn’t without Phoenix getting their fair share of chances. That was the first time they had failed to score in Perth in their last seven trips, and currently have given Perth their onlyy clean sheet in 13 games this season. That should change and I fancy both to score with over 2.5, but it’s not a price I can back @ 8/11 @ best. Instead take BTTS No Draw @ 11/10 @ William Hill. Both of these sides are good going forward but struggle in defense. 9 of the last 11 have seen BTTS, with 7 going over 2.5. Either team can snatch the 3 points here despite Perth the ‘favourites’.

Sorry Jordan, didn’t even look above to see you covered this match already. Smeltz has been confirmed here that he’s cleared to feature, he’s listed in the squad, and all the club are awash with talk that he’ll feature, with a 50/50 chance he may even start. They’ve been hyping it up something big, given he’s one of the most prolific strikers in the history of the A-League, and was a big name for both Phoenix and Glory in the past.
For the opening match in round 14 of the A-League, we have Perth Glory hosting Wellington Phoenix at the nib Stadium. Glory have a decent attack, scoring in their last 5 consecutive matches, but their defense is woeful. They are missing Wilson in midfield and big Dino Djulbic in defense… which isn’t going to help an already poor defense. However they do at least have a decent replacement for Wilson in Marinkovic (who not only is a goal threat, but provides solid service to the Glory frontmen whenever he features).
Phoenix enter this match with only a slightly less poor defense, but the big news for this match is the return of Shane Smeltz, who has been confirmed as featuring here tonight. Smeltz started his career in the A-League at Phoenix, before transferring several times (the now defunct Gold Coast United) and ending up as a big hit at Perth Glory. The Kiwi has long been considered one of the most prolific strikers in the A-League, and will be a welcome boost to fairly shabby attack, led by Roy Krishna (who I really don’t rate).
Two teams who have little problem scoring, and really can’t defend. I expect an open game, with a bit of fire as these two are expected to go pretty hard at eachother.

@anasewhiz I fancied a few goals in that game so didn’t go with it and only really fancied the one game today. I will looking to tomorrow shortly and also start to look at some of Saturday’s games as you can imagine with so many weekend games it can take a while and I hate rushing things and feel when I have done that in the past I’ve lost more. It can be frustrating when you don’t win but I think it makes it worse if you go with something you aren’t fairly confident with or spent enough time looking at the games etc. I believe it also helps trying to be selective with the games it’s a market that can be used on a lot of games but I try to keep the selections to a minimum with no more than 4 on any given day. @phillis when I began using this market in August I started with fairly low stakes. I’m not sure how long you have been doing these too but I also do doubles and trebles and have also used a Yankee bet on a couple of days when I fancied a number of games. I only do doubles and trebles when the games are being played on the same day. It’s the same staking strategy adopted by johnb on the racing thread. I believe due to the odds available and this staking it has enabled it to be profitable so far but hopefully that can continue for the next few months.
@wato I’ve only just started doing them as been watching you and seeing how they go! Last night when I was looking at the League Two game stats, I picked out John Marquis as a potential pick for ATGS.
Looking again a little closer now at his career stats…this guy loves a yellow card as much as a goal!
