THERE'S a busy card on Tuesday and I've posted a separate Premier League preview.

Highlight of the seven games is Liverpool v Chelsea and while I respect the Reds' record against top teams at Anfield it's difficult to see them stopping the leaders.

I'm tempted by them at 2-1 to win but for a Super Single it's Chelsea draw no bet at 28-25 with Marathonbet.

There are also seven Championship games and none of them look easy to call as well as three in League Two.

In Scotland there are two tight-looking contests between Ross County and Motherwell and Hamilton and Inverness.

There is one Scottish Cup game, Clyde v Stirling, and knockout clashes in France and Italy so there is a lot to look at.

As well as the Super Single I'm putting Chelsea not to lose on a double chance treble with Burnley and Wolves. Burnley's excellent home record should make them favourites against a Leicester side who have struggled on the road all season – but they're not.

Add Wolves not to lose at Barnsley who are also in decent form. However, Paul Lambert's side will take confidence from the way they won at Anfield and his players should be fresh enough having made seven changes.

Monday's tip was a loser as 10-man Valencia threw away a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 at Las Palmas. The other part of the double saw nine goals and I did suggest an alternative double was over 2.5 goals in the games at Las Palmas and Jong Ajax and I wish I'd been on it.

So as we reach the end of the month I'll finish well up on the accumulators and well down on the singles. It should be the other way round but overall it's not too bad on what's traditionally a tough month.

I'm going through to Edinburgh for a funeral today so won't be around – hope to be on the site in time for tonight's kick-offs.

Putting my eggs into one basket today but I feel there is value to be found with West Brom. Middlesbrough can count themselves amongst the group of teams for whom relegation is a very real possibility. Worryingly for them their form has dropped off with the last five matches played only yielding two points, picked up from three defeats and two draws. West Brom, who sit cozy in eighth spot, are capable of playing some nice stuff and can be solid so comparatively going by Boro’s previous result (the 1-3 home defeat by West Ham) they should be able to net at least once and even win the game.

Keeping it simple today can’t believe the odds on Burnley today the 4th best home record against one of the worst away records in the league bookies seemed to have priced this up on H2H record but I’ll take current form pointing to a home win

Ross County have been scoring and conceding almost in equal measure lately. 4/5 of their previous matches have seen BTTS and overs, the exception a 2-0 loss to Celtic. The same applies for their home games. Motherwell are less prolific but have scored in their last 3 away games, all seing BTTS land. BTTS has occurred in the last 5 H2H; County lost the last 4-1, and will be keen for revenge.

Ross County v Motherwell BTTS @7/10 (Marathon Bet)
BTTS + RC Double Chance @ 11/10 (Marathon Bet)

ICT kept a clean sheet at home in their last match v Partick, but it was incredible that the match saw no goals. Prior to this, ICT had conceded in every match back to October 26th, and I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet here. Leiston home matches are full of goals and BTTS has occurred in 4/5 for both teams home and away respectively.

    Treble pays just under 2/1:

Leiston v Folkestone Invicta – Both Teams To Score
    Hamilton to score
Ross County v Motherwell goal in both halves

Inter host Lazio in the Coppa Italia tomorrow and it’s hard to look by them. It took them extra time to get past Bologne in the last round however watching the game you always felt Inter were a safe bet to qualify even at 2-2. They looked dangerous going forward and should bring top scorer Icardi back in to start this game as they look to reach the semi finals of the cup.

They have run over the top of most teams at home this season, dropping just 7 points from a possible 33 scoring 25 goals in the process. They have won their last 7 at home including a 3-0 win over Lazio in December.  Pioli has done a great job since coming in. He has stated he wants to win the cup and says we haven’t seen Inter hit their peak yet.

Lazio’s away form has been patchy and clean sheets have been hard to come by for them.  If we look a bit closer and break down their away games between teams from the top half of the league and teams from the bottom we have:

    Top – Played 6 conceded 13

    Bottom – Played 4 conceded 2

Not that surprising that they are faring better against poorer sides but it does show they consistently struggle to defend against better quality opposition. By contrast Inter have put two or more against every top half side they have played and their home form has only been blighted by a poor start to the season when De Boer was in charge. H2H is favourable for a few Inter goals also with them averaging 2.5 TGs in their last 4 games against Lazio at the San Siro.

    Inter Milan V Lazio

    Inter Milan O1.5TG

    1/1

    Morning gents,

Hardly covered myself in glory yesterday with the NLN 0-0 scoreline but sometimes you have to whistle and move on…

It’s a cracking card and there’s no one game that stands out so my selections are made up of different combinations.

I see Burnley are being well backed on the site and completely agree at the price not giving them enough respect.

Chelsea are big at 2/1 and another team of interest are Rotherham away to a Forest side who aren’t in great shape on or off the field – listened to an interview yesterday with their Chairman and a lot of bad feeling at the club currently won’t be helping the players perform.

Rotherham are dire themselves but I think they’ll find the net tonight as they did twice in the last H2H.

    BURNLEY
    CHELSEA
    ROTHERHAM

    OVER 0.5 TG TREBLE…1.56/1
    ???

    ****************************

Goals-a-plenty in the Northern Challenge Cup as ever this year (4-1 and 1-4 in last night’s) and the same in the Northern Div 1 games.

There’s 5 tonight and all should see goals – I’m going to add in Stjarnan’s Cup game against Vikingur which, again, oughn’t to be a low scorer:

    BUXTON
    FARSLEY
    LEEK TOWN
    PRESCOT CABLES
    SHAW LANE
    STJARNAN games

    OVER 2.5 MGS 6-FOLD…8.77/1
    ?

I mentioned the glut of second half goals in Shaw Lane’s games this season and that could be worth exploring if the market becomes available with Coral later.

Best of luck with all bets ?

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Cheers Jim (apart from the random bit – varied maybe but never random).

I’ve had a real purple patch since Christmas but runs like that are rare in this game.

Re points, I have every respect for Mr F and Jordan (and others) who religiously track and share their profit and loss.

I did so last year for around 3 or 4 months and Initially I did well splitting bets into UK or Overseas bets. Every time the Overseas bets would outstrip my UK based bets.

Anyway, it all ended horribly mainly based on the Euro 16 tournament and I ended up 20 odd points in the red from memory.

Happy spending more time researching and reasoning games and my betting balance tells me all I need to know about my success or failure over time.

      Best of luck today ?

I am sticking with my penalty bets in the Brentford v Villa game.
Brenford to score a pen 8/1. to miss one. 25/1 Villa to score pen 17/2. to miss one 28/1 skybet.

I am also on a red card and a penalty awarded in the same game 12/1 skybet. the last four times i have done the red card / sendjng off bet I have had it up once and been very close on the other three occasions so i am still in profit if you get it up one time out of twelve you still show a small profit any more than that and your laughing. this represents good value in my humble opinion.

My own thoughts on the Spurs game is Sunderland +2, we do score quite a few but they’ve recruited some new faces and it could be a case of them putting in a big performance against us tonight….was tempted at +1 but with the +2 we need to tear them a new one which i don’t see us doing plus they need points….just my thoughts

  29. craigyboy 7 years ago

In the big one Liverpool v Chelsea. I’d be very tempted to back Liverpool but the odds quite simply aren’t good enough when you consider how in form Chelsea are. I can see why people are tempted to back Chelsea at 2/1, so for me I’m bottling it and not having a bet but if I was to stick my neck out I’ll go with my gut instinct and say Liverpool to stop the rot. I said this was the kind of game Liverpool needed. Who knows – Liverpool tonight and then Chelsea have Arsenal the weekend. The league could look very different next week.

As I backed Wolves the weekend I’d be very wary of backing them tonight. It’s a proper reality check to go to Oakwell on a Tuesday night and we have to remember how Barnsley dismantled us at Molineux 4-0 several months ago. It’s a game that should see goals up both ends of the pitch.

    Nap:
    Arsenal win/over 1.5 goals
    Spurs win/over 1.5 goals
    1.2/1
    Betstars

Arsenal and Spurs should hit two or three goals each tonight. I can’t see Watford scoring and I however many Sunderland score, Spurs will outscore them much like the weekend, and this for me looks a relatively safe double which returns at over evens.

    Two smaller stake accumulators:
    BTTS and over 2.5 goals:

Afternoon gents – two bets from me tonight

    Bournemouth v Crystal Palace

Dean court ( or what ever its called now) for goals! There have been 26 scores in their last 6 at home with 5 of those seeing over 2.5 goals! Watford, Southampton and Sunderland have all gone their this season and scored at least two and despite palaces recent woes I’d expect them to bet here and that should see help us towards 3 goals

Back over 2.5 match goals 10/11 (NAP) (Betfred)

Given the the amount of goals scored in Bournemouths home games, a good % of them have come late on in games – 6 of their last 8 have seen a goal scored lags on

Taking another one here with palace also seeing a number of late goal in their games

    Back a goal after 74 mins 5/6

    Afternoon!

Anderlecht were a disappointment on Sunday following an early Liege red that I assume led them to parking the bus. 0-0 it finished to spoil the chances of both main bets coming in. It was a poor day in all with Rooney also failing to trouble the net against Wigan. It summed up January, really. Early doors I was almost 16 points in the red, yet a few full houses clawed that back. Having trawled through my spreadsheet it turns out that all but one betting day in January consisted of either a full house of winners of full house of losers. The result? I’m pretty much even for the month. So onto today’s picks, with one last day to try and end January in a bit of profit.

I won’t add too much about my selections today but it appears Burnley are favoured on the site. I’ve backed Burnley to score at home on a good few occasions now and the visit of leaky Leicester certainly hasn’t put me off continuing to do so. I fancy Arsenal to get the job done against a Watford side that aren’t exactly setting the world alight right now. Hopefully they will pick up 2 goals in the process. Lastly, I agree with Greg that we should see goals at Bournemouth.

I know Craigyboy has mentioned the Liverpool v Chelsea game as ‘The Big One’, but everyone really know the main attraction tonight is in deepest, darkest South Yorkshire…

SHAW LANE AQUAFORCE VS. BELPER TOWN:

Not going to trot a load of stats out but I’ve flagged this one more than once.

Lost count of the times that 2-3+ second half goals have been scored in SLA’s games and they are on a tidy run at present.

Worth a little look and hopefully my theory stacks up:

    OVER 1.5 SHGS…4/6
    ???

    OVER 2.5 SHGS…2/1
    ?

    LUTON 19/20.

Summary: Luton have recently come into some decent form, winning 3 and drawing 1 out of last 5 league games. The Hatters have won last 3 home games very comfortably, and this evening they face a team in terrible form, Cheltenham! By all accounts Gary Johnson attempted to change formation against Crewe at the weekend, but quickly reverted back to type after things didn’t work according to plan! A point gained at Crewe! Think Luton will prove to strong this evening!

    Tonight’s bet:

    Arsenal -1
    Spurs o1.5tg
    Inter o1.5tg

Arsenal should be able to put 3 or 4 past Watford based on both team’s recent form so should hopefully win by 2 or more. Spurs are on a scoring spree but have been disappointing away from home. Hopefully Sunderland can grab a goal forcing Spurs to score 2 or more for the win. As for Inter at home to a decent Lazio side…they have simply been incredible at the San Siro this season. They have scored 2 or more goals in their last 9 home games and with Lazio more than capable of scoring, they may need 2 or more to win.

Hey folks. Had a good couple of days so ive decided to buy into the wolves feel good vibe.
Just had a look on skybet at odds for a top 6 finish. Hopefully they build up a good head of steam now and this sort of thing has happened in the past. With that in mind I’ve had a couple of small wagers.
    Top 6 finish = 25/1
And on the off chance that should happen it seems daft not to have.
    Promotion = 80/1
Although to be fair the whole thing is probably daft. ?
Good luck tonight. Going to browse the page and make an acca ?

  48. richard 7 years ago

Gonna risk a bit on the following fairly high odds

    Ross Co vs Motherwell

I thought Motherwell were abysmal against Rangers, even when they had a man advantage and Ross County have been scoring for fun lately. I also think the odd on Boyce scoring first are far too high given he’s joint top scorer in the league and 7 of his 13 goals have come first in the game

    Boyce 1st goalscorer @ 5.00
Ross Co to score over 2.5 tg @ 3.40

    Hamilton vs ICT

Billy McKay has just joined Inverness on loan and from what I understand his form has been awful but he was on fire for ICT last time he was there and I think he’s worth a punt

    McKay 1st scorer @ 8.00

  49. wasclueless 7 years ago

    Costa ATGS 13/10

  50. liamw 7 years ago

Billy Mckay just re-signed for ICT and will be desperate to get on the scoresheet:

    Mckay and ICT win 11/1
    1st ICT scorer 7/2

Just put one in the side netting! Yeah if you discount the first season where he was mainly a sub or out of position he had about 55 goals in 95 odd games. Just can’t see Caley keeping a clean sheet 2 in a row though…..goal as I type, boo

  51. nathanufton 7 years ago

    Ipswich V Derby:

After a howler of a start against Leicester with Darren Bents own goal, he managed to level the score with a deft header. Bryson just before the break made it 2-1 to the rams and after seeing Leicester come flying out of the blocks, I told my old dear ” we need another goal to win this game “. Leicester get an 80+ minute goal to take the FA cup tie back to Leicester. Not what either side wanted. Russell was a whisker away from sealing the deal on the back post but we held out quite well for a draw.
I tipped an overs 2.5 match cards and Mark Clattenberg decided not to come to the party. Just 1 card shown all match. I feel he missed 2 penalty’s, both a bit iffy to call but another ref might of given us one of them. Leicester could of had 2 or 3 players carded just on Will Hughes being fouled/held but Clattenberg was having none of it. Derby started to be a little naughty around 50-55 mins, sloppy niggling fouls that should of seen the cards count rack up. But in truth it was not to be.

    Derby team:

    Carson
    Baird/Pearce/Keogh/Ollson
    Butterfield/Johnson/Bryson
    Kamara/Bent/Ince

2 changes, Will Hughes obviously injured during the last match, in comes Butterfield and Russell out ( also picked up a small injury late on in that match ) – in comes Kamara.

On the face of it, its about the right changes for me. Kamara needs to be full of energy and take on their full back, if he does that, we could take the points. Hughes was very workmanlike in the last match and got right in amongst the thick of the action, Johnson needs to use some of his physicality and help keep some resemblance of shape in the middle of the pitch, we left big big gaps in the middle after Hughes was subbed. If this happens in this match, Ipswich could capitalise on it.
Ipswich’s form isn’t all that great and I’d say its a good time to play them. Derby’s isn’t that great but our home form is now the focus of most of our points now when it was all about the away points earlier on in the season. Ipswich is a team we can beat, but they’ve also been busy in transfer window, so they have aspirations of turning their club around. Derby have done bits and bobs, Nugent – surprise surprise – knee injury, but we’ve just signed an 18 year old St Mirren winger Kyle McCallister – one for the future I’d say.

I think I will be playing this cautiously and dropping my pot on a Ipswich cleanseet NO ( 1/3 ) and over 1.5 tmg’s in the Bournmouth game. My £37 might return around £64. bet365.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the cards will be on the high side today and I expect Derby to get most of them. I have also noticed this past few matches ( home and away, Derby have came out 2nd best on the race to X corners. )

It’s not much from me tonight but until I see some consistency, I have to err on the side of caution.

The wheels have come off the tractor at Portman rd, 3 nil, Bent from a corner just before ht. Have to say, its been easy.
Ipswich made 1 early change and brought McGoldrick on 20 mins ago, but its got no better. Bryson’s hit the bar from 25 yards ( gk fingertip job ) – have to say, 3 goals from 6 straight starts, he’s looking for more.
Hopefully more of the same the 2nd half, none of this take the foot off the gas, Lead right foot time.

Have to say my 2nd component of my “safe” double took the 92nd minute to come in.
Credit has to go to Greg, I err’d on the side of caution on his over 2.5 tmg’s in the Bournmouth game and took the overs 1.5.

Derby blew the tractor boys out of the water tonight and whilst I thought we were capable of beating them – if Kamara had a good game, it was game over by ht with the Rams 3 nil up. That’s how it ended and although the 2nd half never quite had the same flow ( not due to Ipswich lifting their game – they didn’t ) The 2nd half for the rams we were just not clinical enough – especially in the passing in the last 3rd.
This could easily of been a 6 nil. Their left back ” Bearer? ” – more like Pall Bearer ( you’d of thought he had a coffin on his back he was undone so many times by Ince and Kamara ).
Next up for the Rams, a really really ” Simple ” game at St James Park ( I’m a football fan, I refuse to promote Mr Zero-hours stadium rename ). On current stats and form, Newcastle tend to field a side worth about £55 mill with £45 mill on the bench. – but look how Burton did with their squad costing 500k they lost 2-1 to the toon army. Newcastle are a big side with a big crowd, we’ve put 3 decent performances against 2 good sides ( WBA and Leicester ) + Ipswich. If memory serves me right, our record against Newcastle isn’t that bad. I can’t bet against my own side, I’ve done that before and it didn’t end well.
Corners flowed tonight, cards were shy. I’m likely to go for Newcastle no clean sheet come Saturday.

Commiserations to those who had a bad night what with Greg’s game being a goal shy, and I’m guessing Arsenal tripped a few up tonight too. Onwards to tomorrow with £64 in the pot.

    ICT v Dundee

Inverness lost 3-0 to Hamilton (2nd bottom) midweek, and look a shambles defensively. However, Dundee aren’t so hot in that respect either. However, I think Dundee really ought to be slight favourites for this match, but are priced at 12/5, with the double chance 8/11. With two teams on poor form theres always the possibility of a scrappy 0-0, but I’m expecting goals – I was wrong last time on ICT so hopefully I’ll be closer today:

    Dundee DC @ 8/11 (2 points)
    BTTS and O2.5 @ 7/5 (1.5 points)
    Dundee O1.5 tgls @ 9/4 (0.5 points)

Thanks to @jordan for the winners yesterday, and @hullshaker for a cracking couple of Paraguayan night owl winners. GL today all!
