    Johnb

The price you quote for Pulsating is 13/2 yet the best I can get is 13/8 at 8-30 Monday night.

    Is yours a misprint

No misprint, I got 13/2 after I posted on here, i really liked this horse last time but had excuses, I just hope tonight’s money is the connections of the horse

          Mr Fixit/Johnb

Please don’t take my comment as doubting that you have got 13/8 it was just a genuine question.

I follow both Mr Fixit and Johnb and have no doubt that it was available.

          Sorry for any confusion

Hi all , followed for a long time but never signed up.
Johnb i see you tip pulsating, i noticed that 2 other runners by same trainer have had a massive move in the market
    3.30 lingfield – according to them – 34/1 down to 3
    And 4.30 lingfield – landscape – 11/1 down to 2,
any ideas why and is this worth following?

    • Profile photo of Johnb
      Johnb 11 months ago

If all three run to near their best form then they can all win, if one wins he will definitely have to explain to the stewards but if all three win then he should be asked some serious questions, if the trainer has organised this coup then good luck to him,

What’s interesting is that since Pulsatings last run, the trainer now owns the horse
I really fancied Pulsating last time but it got badly bumped at the start and never really recovered

It is about a 2 mile (ish) walk, mostly down main road into central Leicester London Road (A6). Should take around 45 mins or so.

It’s just short of three miles down the A6. Best bet to go to stand EE (bus) takes around 15 mins. At least one every ten mins.

Don’t know what to make of this move for Pulsating, if it’s not connections money then i would be expecting it not to win now so hoping it is connections that have backed it, currently as low as 6-5 betvictor

Just to confirm it’s not a mistake, Pulsating was 13/2 when I advised the horse
    Bet365 went 10-1>8-1>13-2>9-2>7-2>3-1>13-8

    Paddy power went 9-1>13-2>7-2>5-2>6-4

Steele left bemused by gamble on his runners

    7:42PM 30 JAN 2017

A POTENTIAL gamble had snowballed on Monday evening, with a trio of runners trained by Daniel Steele all slashed in price for Tuesday’s meetings.

But it was a surprise to the trainer to see the horses had been backed, and he said on Monday night: “It’s nothing to do with me. I got a message to say that all three had been backed, but Landscape won’t run as he scoped dirty this afternoon but I’ve been too busy to declare him a non-runner.”

Landscape, who had also been part of a 2015 gamble, was taken out shortly after 8.30 on Tuesday morning.

Regarding the chances of his other two runners, According To Them and Pulsating, Steele added: “Pulsating has an obvious chance, but I’d be shocked if According To Them won as he’s shown zilch in two starts this season. I’ve booked Gavin Sheehan and put blinkers on but he has to improve markedly.”

According To Them has failed to complete four of his last five starts, but the 13-year-old had been backed into 2-1 (from 40) for the 3.00 at Lingfield. His price shortly after 10am on Tuesday morning ranged from 7-4 up to 10-1.

Pulsating has performed well in plating company, and is a course-and-distance winner. He went from 9-1 to 6-4 for the 3.20 at Wolverhampton on Monday evening, but is back out to a general 7-2 chance.

    ‘Tread with caution’
William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke confirmed the firm had seen money for the Steele runners, but they were not facing large liabilities.

“We have been partially exposed to the gamble but our traders were on top of it very quickly and cut prices accordingly,” Ivan-Duke said.

“These gambles go awry more often than they land and any punters getting involved now have missed the prices. They should tread with caution as they could be getting involved in something that they don’t necessarily know anything more about than we do.”

      One that didn’t work out

Bookies ‘running scared’ of Sheena West runners

      9:22AM 19 NOV 2015

THERE were signs of a potential betting coup on Thursday morning after bookmakers cut the prices of four horses trained by Sheena West and owned by Daniel Steele.

West has two runners each at the jumps meeting at Wincanton and the all-weather fixture at Lingfield and all of them have shortened significantly overnight.

At Wincanton, Fintan (1.20) is 6-4 (from 6) and Landscape (1.50) 6-4 (from 7), while at Lingfield Tee It Up Tommo (3.20) is 7-4 (from 12) and Well Painted (3.50) 6-4 (from 9).

Fintan and Landscape will be making their first starts for West and Well Painted has rewarded market support before for the yard when winning at Windsor in June after being backed into 9-4 (from 12).

All four are owned by Steele, a permit-holder who has had three runners over jumps this season, and were available at bigger prices when the markets opened on Wednesday.

      Bookies ‘running scared’

Steele admitted to putting the quartet in various combination bets. “They [bookmakers] are definitely all running scared,” he told At The Races.

“They were all huge double-figure prices last night and I think everyone has followed on, but I can assure you there is no big money laid down.

“They all have each-way chances, but they are all competitive races, so I’d be delighted if I come back with one winner, never mind four.

“They are all on good marks and are as fit as they can be. We’ve got them in doubles, trebles, Lucky 15s and I’m sure it would be a fairly big liability for the bookmakers, seeing as they are all running for cover.”

After laying the quartet at bigger odds, Betfair face an anxious wait to see how the gamble unfolds.

Spokesman Barry Orr said: “At Wincanton we have laid Fintan at 14-1, he’s now 2-1 and Landscape at 20-1, now 5-2. At Lingfield, Tee It Up Tommo in the 3.20 will be looking to join the club at 14-1, now 5-2, while the gallery will be watching Well Painted, in nervous anticipation, should any combination of the previous three win. He was available at 20-1 and is now just 2-1.”

    Morning all,

Yesterday was a dissapointing day with both my bets running poorly- both horses are swiftly being removed from my notebook. Well done the EW thief who had a remarkable day yesterday! 1 selection for me today but 2 bets will be advised.

14.15 Down Royal – White Arm 4/1 Win & White Arm to place 5/4

I put this horse up on New Year’s Day as an increased selection when he ran at Fairyhouse in the staying chase. I had heard through the grapevine that he had been trained with that race in mind (similar to the previous year). He finished a rather fortuitous 3rd that day- he was trailing in 4th only for a horse to fall in front of him leaving him third, but I maintain that he would have got much closer to the winner had he not been badly hampered 3 out. Ironically in the 2016 version of the Fairyhouse race he was also badly hampered and finished 3rd but critically next time out at Navan he romped home by 4 lengths. With a similar turn of events taking place this year I expect A J Martin will want to get a win into this horse while he remains in peak condition. Conditions should be spot on for him today and he has been dropped 1lb by the handicapper. His Fairyhouse conquer Capture The Drama reposes today but is 7lbs worse off with the selection and with a clear round I am very hopeful the White Arm can but up a bold showing. I will be backing this horse twice today with 1.5 points on him to win at 4/1 (general) and 1.5 points on him to place at 5/4 on the Betfair exchange.

Many Thanks and GL to all

    American Patrol 11/10 NAP/NB bet365 (double stake)

Not much I can say about this horse after last time when he won for us in what was a bit of a coup,
Advised at 13-2 American Patrol won at 11-10
My write up last time highlighted that this horse hadn’t really been given a fair chance to win as he was ridden conservatively and not asked to do much, I also highlighted Neil Mulholland’s record on the all weather especially when calling on the services of Adam Kirby, which is now 3 wins and 1 placed from 6 rides in the last 12 months, I also highlighted that this horse was better than a 55 rated horse and he is now rated 61 but that shouldn’t stop him here as he looks a horse that should be a lot higher and American Patrol should get us off to a winning start for February

    Evening all,

A very small profit for myself today to round of a profitable January. 3 early selections for tomorrow with one increased selection.

    16.00 Hereford – Pacha Du Polder 11/8

The class horse in this field who has been known more recently for his exploits under Victoria Pendleton, but there is no joke about his quality. He showed over the summer he can still mix it in regulation rules races (finished 3rd in the listed Summer Cup at Uttoxeter) and back into a hunter chase tomorrow he can stamp his class on this field. His record in the top hunter chases at Aintree and Cheltenham is impressive (2/5/6) and with a more experienced jockey I think he would have made the places in the foxhunters at the festival last year (finished 5th). He is a supreme jumper of fences and has proved this over the national fences (ignore his unseat at Fakenham- Pendleton thought she was in the velodrome), the slight drop back in trip shouldn’t be an issue as he trotted up over 2 and a half at Wincanton last year. The excellent Bryony Foster takes the ride and her experience will be critical. In my early tissue I have him down as a 5/6 shot so the 11/8 around at the moment looks very generous. With all criteria met I have to increase my stake- but as always nothing is assured (15pnts win).

    16.10 Leicester – Lazer Light 3/1

Drop back in trip should suit and while it is a competitive race he must have a chance if the race is run to suit (1.5pnts win).

    18.00 Newcastle – ReRun 7/1 EW

The switch to handicaps can see this horse confirm his early promise (0.75 pnts each way).

Apologies for the shorter write ups for the last two I will add to these later on.

Many thanks and GL to all

Still reading the thread every day. Must say well done to ew thief yesterday. Absolutely unreal tipping! The thread is as good as ever, with several very good, knowledgeable and profitable contributors.
I picked out 6 for today late last night. Unfortunately laid back luke and coilite caitlin were non runners this morning, so I covered the other 4 in a small each way Yankee.
    Capture the dream – sixth
    Annie Alain – 1st 5/1
    Doitforthevillage – 1st 3/1 (9/2 last night)
    Poetic Force – 1st 3/1

It returned 8x the total stake. Just gutted because capture the dream was my most confident selection of the 4. Never mind. I’ll hit a full house on a multiple bet one day hopefully!
Wish I was half as knowledgeable as most of you on here, and then I’d feel confident sharing my selections.
Good luck all tomorrow and onwards
