JOHNB hopes to make it a winning weekend to wipe out his January losses.
He drew a blank on Friday so is now 24.67pts down for the month with just two days to go but a super Saturday would go down a treat.
Johnb’s Saturday Tips
Un Beau Roman 16-1 NB Ladbrokes
Chef D’oeuvre 10-1 NAP Ladbrokes
Double 0.5 point each way
Un Beau Roman & Chef D’oeuvre 186-1 Ladbrokes
Johnb says: If anyone would prefer to do the singles each way then that’s your choice, I back win only but it doesn’t mean you have to as well.
CHEF D’OEUVRE (NAP)
Eight runners for this Neptune Trial after the defection of Barters Hill to Doncaster,
The bookies seem to be concentrating on Yanworth 5/2 and Shantou Village 7/2.
Chef D’oeuvre won on his second start at Laurencetown point to point on heavy ground over 3 miles, he then moved to the Warren Greatrex yard where he came third in a nhf race.
Next up and last time out was by far his best performance and it came on heavy ground again, he beat the 1/4 favourite Krugermac by 28 lengths.
Krugermac had previously been second to Nambour from the Mullins yard and had also won a class 3 in impressive fashion, so the fact that Chef D’oeuvre had given Krugermac such a beating means he can take this step up to class 1 in his stride.
He hurdled well enough last time only really misjudging two hurdles but they were only minor mistakes.
I may have posted this tip too early because 14/1 is available now and I thought 10/1 was too big
UN BEAU ROMAN (NB)
At first it looks an odd pick this when looking at the form under Willie Mullins. When he got a decent run he wouldn’t really kick on from that, then looking deeper into some of his races they weren’t that bad, beat a length by Ted Veale in a class 1 then beaten 14 lengths by Clarcam,
But since moving to the Paul Henderson yard he has looked a different animal.
Sometimes when you see an outsider win you know it was a one off race, but watching Un Beau Roman win last time it didn’t give me that impression, I felt there was more to come, it actually looked impressive and it doesn’t happen a lot that another trainer can get more out of a horse than Willie Mullins but it does happen and it has with this horse.
