I CONCENTRATED on league games instead of cup clashes and while that was a good tactic I felt I could have done better.
My two Scottish Super Singles looked good value but neither won and I had two bigger-prices winners on the aways – Exeter and Morton – but they were paired with two losers.
No Motherwell goal beat the Top Treble and no East Fife goal cost me an 18-1 homes fivefold but a 15-4 Scottish both to score treble gave me a tiny profit on the accumulators.
Stars of the show were Desmond and Selectabet. Desmond posted 3-1 and 6-4 winners and one loser while Selectabet's 2+ double on Ross County and Scunthorpe gave him nearly 11pts profit.
It's another busy Sunday and while I feel like a broken record the advice for FA Cup ties is see line-ups then have a bet.
Man United should take care of Wigan no matter who they field and it has a 2-0 feel to it. I don't see Leeds going the way of Brighton when they visit non-league Sutton and Garry Monk is likely to put a side strong enough to win. If Chris Wood starts back him to score.
Now to two games where there could be shocks – Fulham at home to Hull and Millwall at home to Watford. If Hull and Watford make loads of changes consider the underdogs.
In the Scottish Premiership Celtic are aiming to break the Lisbon Lions' record of 27 games unbeaten and should do so at home to Hearts. Ian Cathro has made six signings and it make time for his side to gel.
Celtic haven't been putting teams away and four of their last six wins have been by one goal. However, they should get a bit more joy against a side that's conceded plenty including three in two Scottish Cup ties against Raith.
I think Celtic will win by at least two but that pays no more than 4-5 so for a Super Single I'm trying Celtic -2AH at 13-10 with McBookie. Six of their last seven home wins against the Jambos have been by more than one.
I've been banging on about team news and the surprise for Celtic is both strikers Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele are out so Scott Sinclair will be furthest forward. Plenty of attacking talent in the shape of James Forrest, Patrick Roberts and Stuart Armstrong but having seen the line-ups I'm happy to risk 1pt on Sinclair to score first at 9-2 with Betfred.
There are big games all over Europe and my first bet is a both teams to score treble. Sevilla's last nine have gone over 2.5 including last week's 4-3 win at Osasuna. Add Real Madrid v Real Sociedad with both scoring in the last six at the Nou Camp – all won incidentally by the home with an average of four goals.
Complete the treble with PSG v Monaco. It's not a traditional high scorer but this season Monaco have been goal machines with 64 in Ligue 1. This looks tough to call and could be score draw.
Unusually my Top Treble features all aways – Serie A leaders at Juventus, chasers Roma at Sampdoria and Dortmund at Mainz.

I tipped BTTS & Over 2.5 when Eupen hosted Standard Liege on Thurdsay, and Eupen obliged with two themselves. Anderlecht played the night before and beat Westerlo 4-2, scoring 3 before the break. Be interesting to see how Liege handle the two road games in three days. They’ve conceded 2+ in 4 of their last 5, and 7 of their last 9 on the road. Should continue against an Anderlecht side pushing for the title. Not 100% certain but they could have their Algerian forward Sofiane Hanni back for selection after Algeria failed to qualify for the AFCON playoffs.
Feyenoord host Nijmegen in the Eredivise. The hosts are 5 points clear at the top and should get another victory here today. Nijmegen are in ‘decent’ form, or so you’d think. Three wins from their last four, but two of those have come against sides who will likely be battling for the drop come the end of the season. Feyenoord look good for a couple of goals here and a much better price than Ajax today imo.
Bilbao will have their main man back (not Max) but Aduriz after suspension as well as the set piece danger-man Benat. This adds to an already potent attack with Williams and Muniain. They have a decent record at home with only one loss against Barcelona, and with Gijon having a tough time on their travels this season I expect both sides to continue both trends and should be good for a couple of home goals. Gijon kept a rare clean sheet at Betis last week who were missing a key play-maker, so I’m hoping Bilbao are firing on all cylinders.

Adelaide United v Wellington Phoenix:
The Saturday night hoodoo continued for me yesterday in the A-League, with a strange result in Mariners belting Glory. Brisbane did triumph in a tight game as predicted, and Maclaren did threaten, but whilst he did assist in the opening goal, he couldn’t convert one of his own. Alas.
For the final game in round 17, we have Adelaide hosting the Phoenix. Adelaide have had a horrid season, and lost as expected to Sydney, however in the match prior, showed signs of improvement with a 2-1 win over Victory. Mileusnic returns to the squad to give the Reds another attacking option, however they have lost Guardiola, who has left the club.
Wellington enter this one in slightly better form than their hosts. They did lose in a tightly contested match against Roar in their last game, however had several wins prior to that game. I am always concerned in backing Phoenix away from home, as they never seem to travel well. They do miss Rossi in defense, but have a host of attacking options at their disposal.
Cards are a feature in this fixture over the years, and add the absence of key defenders and overzealous attacking players.. given both clubs are desperate for points. I do fancy Phoenix to punish Adelaide, and cards even more so.

Psg vs Monaco
The hosts, PSG, have started 2017 in better form than they finished 2016 and have won all five of their competitive games, two of which have been in the league and three in cup competitions. Focusing specifically on Ligue 1 and PSG struggled towards the end of 2016, losing at Montpellier and Guingamp, with a draw at home with Nice sandwiched in-between. Unai Emery has found life tough in the French capital since his move from Sevilla and the club have been spending heavily in the January transfer market, picking up Julian Draxler from Wolfsburg and Goncalo Guedes from Benfica. However, neither player is expected to start this match but may have an influence later in the campaign.
Despite their struggles, PSG have been good at home this season and come into this match undefeated. However, they have dropped points on three occasions, in draws with Saint Etienne, Marseille and Nice.
Monaco have been in superb form since the start of year, winning both of their league matches against Marseille and Lorient. Monaco continued their great from in the Coupe de la Ligue in mid-week, defeating Nancy at home 1-0 and Leonardo Jardim’s team can make a huge statement in the Ligue 1 title race by defeating PSG on their own turf.
Playing away from home will not deter Monaco, despite PSG’s impressive record because they are undefeated in their last five matches on the road and have scored 8 goals in their previous two away league games. The counter-attacking display on show against Marseille in the Stade Velodrome was excellent and Jardim will be hoping for more of the same in this match, as the onus will be on PSG to come forward.
PSG have conceded just 3 goals at home in ten Ligue 1 matches this season but Nice showed they can be broken down and Monaco have scored 64 goals in the league this season, which is 23 goals more than PSG have managed. Away from home, Monaco have scored 27 goals in ten games, at an average of 2.7 goals per game and they will expect to find the back of the net at least once in this game. The question is, can they prevent PSG from scoring? Something which has only happened once in the last fourteen Ligue 1 matches at the Parc des Princes.
This is going to be a great occasion and one not to be missed. Monaco are going to create chances but so will PSG and the best bet is for this game to end in a draw

This is a good one to get on the goal lines in play – Europa FC beat Manchester 8-0 on the 7th January and they have a poorer goal difference than Lincoln RI who won the league last season by ten points (and will be remembered for the 1st leg performance against Celtic), and also won their last match against the basement team 15 – 0. I don’t think the scoreline will be quite that big but can se it being 7, 8 or 9. The Guru Nanak Stadium will be witness to the efforts of Trevor Morgan’s uplifted Red and Golds as they seek a fourth consecutive win. They vanquished the defending I-League Champions Bengaluru FC in the last game and the British coach will want more of the same resolve and spirit. Mehtab Hossain’s form in midfield will be key after dominating the last game while the participation of Robin Singh, who scored his first goal after returning to Kolkata, will need to be decided upon. Also, Willis Plaza and Wedson Anselme will need to put their best shooting boots on, particularly the former who missed a host of chances in the previous game.
The home side, Minerva Punjab, sit at the bottom of the I-League table and desperately need a revival of some sort to kick-start their season. Three consecutive defeats have followed their opening weekend draw and they have the worst goal difference in the league. But, they are playing their first home game of the season and coach Surinder Singh will hope that might prove to be a catalyst for his side to improve their performances.

Saturday’s have started to become a gold mine for myself following yesterday’s 3rd Saturday full house on the trot. It’s just a shame the midweek’s are letting me down. ;) Onto today, where I had Anderlecht earmarked following the goals Liege shipped at Eupen just a few days ago. Anderlecht have really hit their stride as of late and, in what is usually a highly competitive fixture, have to be considered big favourites against a Liege side who have disappointed this season. Anderlecht are priced a best 3/4 (Boyles) to grab two today and I think that’s cracking value.
However, I’m taking an extra risk and pairing them up with United to score a couple at home to Wigan in the cup. It’s always a risk to do so before seeing team news, but I’m pretty confident we will see a similar line up to the side that swept aside Reading in the last round. Mourinho has effectively confirmed that Shaw, Martial and Rooney will be starting – there should simply be enough big hitters in their XI to get the job done.
Add Cagliari for a little treble fancy at lower stakes. They mirror Burnley in that they’ve scored 0 in their last 3 away, yet 8 in their last 2 at home. They are a much different proposition on their home turf and hopefully they can notch against a Bologna side that are not prolific travellers.

Hoping to get back on track after a couple of poor days on Thursday and Friday!
Got a good feeling we will run over Hearts today. Last few home games have been relatively tight but we are creating lots of chances and will only be a matter of time before we score 4 or 5 against someone again. Been clinical without being ruthless and I think a game like this with both teams really fired up will get us going again .

has anybody got an idea why the odds for Bolivar and The Strongest in Bolivia are so high (5/6 and 7/5)?

I think the odds are generous but home teams are always generally favoured in Bolivia as I think the altitude each team plays at differs quite substantially
San Jose are unbeaten in their last 6 at home but the last team to beat them was Bolivar so I wouldn’t put you off them but I can maybe understand the odds
The Strongest on the other hand look far too big at first as Guabira have lost 4 of last 5 at home and The Strongest are unbeaten in last 11 away. However The Strongest are playing in the Copa Libertadores 2nd round on Thursday so I’d be careful of team news.
I think mainly because it’s a new season we don’t know what to expect. Also away wins are rare
