JOHNB got back on track with a cracking winner on Tuesday as Copper Birch struck gold.
The 13-2 shot romped home at Taunton and with it being a nap and NB double stake it cuts January’s deficit to 21.72 points.
Dan Emmett 6-4 NAP-NB Paddy Power
Joint nap & NB means double stake for Dan Emmett. But also advising a double – No Through Road & Dan Emmett 4.94-1 Paddy Power
Dan Emmett (NAP)
“This horse stood out a mile when 4th on hurdling debut and he must be screaming out for this step up in distance. Anyone who hasn’t seen the last run by Dan Emmett really has to watch it. Out the back most of the race and never really given a chance by Andrew Tinkler but Emmett finished off strongly without really having a chance with the front three.
“It was one the the best debuts by a horse I have seen for a while without winning. Ran 2m 2f on the flat so this sort of distance hurdling will be no problem and he should want further in the future.”
No Through Road (NB)
“I must admit that when this horse ran last week I thought the handicapper had got to him. I went for Arc Warrior that day but the way No Through Road won means that even another 7lb rise in the weights doesn’t look like it will stop him which is quite remarkable because this horse has gone up 42lb – that’s 3 stone – since October.
“He is turned out quickly here but that’s not a worry because this horse won 4 times in the space of 20 days. He just seems to win on the bridle every time he runs, even when he fell two runs ago he was well clear at the time and fell at the last. Yes the handicapper will catch up with him but it doesn’t look like it will be this race.
“No Through Road is also actually running 2lb light today as he is meant to go up another 2lb after this race. Here’s hoping for a nice Michael Scudamore and Tom Scudamore double.”
