WHAT a day it was for punters faced with an incredible set of FA Cup results. Most people are aware of the pitfalls and I hope those who back favourites heeded the warnings.
It was an OK day for me thanks mainly to my Super Single win. I stuck up Hibs as a three-pointer and in the end they were comfortable winners at QoS. That's two in a row to move back in the black but it would be nice to really kick on now.
Hearts and Liverpool were among teams who let me down but three out of four aways thanks to Hibs, Celtic and Huddersfield gave me a small profit.
There are three more FA Cup ties to look at for anyone brave enough to try to call any of them. We have Bristol City v West Ham, Aston Villa v Bournemouth and Brighton v Arsenal.
The Gunners are now second favourites to lift the trophy but face a rejuvenated Brighton. West Ham are fourth in the outrights and Sam Allardyce has said he fancies a run so they're worth a look at the League One promotion chasers.
Aston Villa v Bournemouth is one that's been talked about a lot and if Bournemouth go full strength I'd be interested in backing them but that's unlikely as the Championship have prioritised promotion to the Premier League.
My Top Treble has to start with Lyon who have won their last nine home games against a Metz side with just two points in their last nine on the road. Lyon are 2-5 with Stan James and I'm taking as the Super Single Alexandre Lacazette to score at any time at 34- with William Hill.
Lacazette is on fire having netted in his last eight games – 12 goals in total. I also like Lacazette at William Hill, Betfred and others to score first at 3-1. An amazing stat is the fact he's scored 20 league goals this season – one more than the whole Metz side.
Next on the Top Treble are Juventus -1 at home to Chievo. The leaders have the best attack in Serie A and face the weakest strikeforce and having netted 13 in three games you have to fancy the Turin giants to win by at least two which is 1-2 with firms such as Betfred and Ladbrokes.
Complete the treble later on with Porto at a Maritimo side who last 4-0 at home to Benfica last time out and who have netted in just one of their previous six outings.

Metz did beat Lyon at home back in August but hit a very dry run of form shortly afterwards and are currently winless in 9 with 2 draws and 7 losses, having been outscored 17-6 in those games.

Long time reader – first time poster.
Just wanted to share my thought on a particular game that stood out to me today, VALENCIA v SEVILLA.
After doing my research on the teams & stats my super single would be VALENCIA @ 5/4
I also think both teams will score, and it will be a match of over 2.5 goals, which has prompted me to also take on VALENCIA & BTTS @7/2 with William Hills.

I remember you putting up your 2/5 Wilder tip a long time ago, saying it was as close to a sure thing as possible, great bet.
Next weekend i’m seeing Celtic priced at least 2/5 and bigger for the win against Rangers, plus 1/2 for over 1.5 goals, 7/5 and above for over 2.5. I think the Celtic win ranks as close to a sure thing here. By no means are Celtic firing but i think with a full house, good big playing surface at Hampden and the team / fans fully motivated with the return of this fixture for the first time in years, i see Celtic being well up for it and more than likely score 3 plus goals.
Not much needs said about Rangers, the club is a complete shambles from top to bottom. Purely on footballing terms, they are a very very poor outfit, there are a couple of decent sides in the Championship, your team and your rivals. If Hibs can demolish them by 4 goals, it’s not a stretch to think Celtic in the mood will be taking a few off them. Who knows the next time we’ll get to humiliate them, i do think they’ll try their best to park the bus but that’ll just keep it down to 2 or 3 at best.

Wow what a great set of results yesterday!! Not many big guns left in the FA CUP. Thankfully only a very small stake lost on yesterday’s bet as I was out playing footy and hate betting decent stakes when I cannot monitor. I was listening to the commentary on the Chelsea game and Bradford were 450-1 to win at half time. That’s a fair point, i might start medium stakes and see how it’s looking in play. They might well get a couple and take their foot off the gas.
One thing with Deila though is the jury is still out on him, if he lost to this Rangers side it would easily rank as one of the worst results in the clubs history and he would struggle to win any long term faith. Brighton have seen their form pick up since Chris Houghton took over, but face an uphill task against Arsenal. We saw a lot of shocks yesterday but the cup holders will be tough to beat. They have won their last 3 league games to nil and were impressive against Man City last week.

Alan red cards are possibly the biggest problem in betting as if you take the Lyon game today for instance Lyon had more space playing against 11 when Metz went down to ten men it was all about keeping the goal difference down to aid the fight against relegation. So Lyon although had all of the play had very little clear cut chances. If your side gets red card or it the side you want to lose gets a red card it changes the whole dynamic of the game I don’t like red cards in games I am betting on because it can relax the team thinking we are playing ten men it will be easy. I never see 10 men and think this will be 3 or 4 goals now as I find it can be a lottery when a red card is shown . Just my opinion anyway

david t, I’d edge towards Valencia but Sevilla are a decent side so it’s not a game to go big on. The Lyon and Juve games were. Don’t read too much into a player saying they need the points – everyone in the Sevilla side will say the same. In fact I’ve never heard anyone come out and say they don’t need the points.

Since today has been kind for many of us I will attempt to reinvest some of the profits. The money has started to come for Valencia. It is of note that there has not been a draw in this fixture since 1993/94 -11 home wins and 6 aways, source opta. Valencia has a very good home record and this game will be tight since both teams are well positioned for the Champion’s League places. moswei, on current form it was a shock as most Porto defeats are. Maritimo had scored in one of their last six league games – and look at today’s stats. Porto had one of those days in front of goal.

Can I ask you why these site changes seem to be taking forever ? reason I ask its really getting quite hard to follow any questions that are getting asked as answers seem to be all over the place at times and it takes quite long to get the full story.
AnOn I am merely a contributor mate but it seems it is down to admin as to when any changes may or may not happen. Site actually works well as it is in my opinion.

raaljaca, changes were and are being considered. A lot of money was invested setting up a new site but you hit the nail on the head when you said this one works well. As long as traffic continues to grow admin are worried about altering a winning formula. There is no doubt however minor changes are needed and this will be done with some bits and pieces freshened up.

It looks like Porto have screwed up the treble tonight. I am so angry. I have been watching the game from start to finish and the amount of chances they have spurned is incredible. why do i back the sunday french 8 o clock game for btts.they are nearly always devoid of goals.hate the french league.

Mr F will the bank builder be banker bets or Inplay bets really curious because I changed my betting style by going for banker bets as singles then double and so on to the point I had 5 banker bets yesterday. I had 2 today all these have won but don’t get me wrong some do lose like Man U the other night. I have kept a excel sheet of all the bets and the results speak for themselves. I stick to level stakes no matter what and it seems to be paying off. Ideally a £1000 to start and £100 bet per bet (£10 for me) but up too £590 off a pound. I just think banker bets are looked down on way too much. Feel free to shoot me down but it seems to be working wonders for me

Surely they can’t count it as treble when it was ht at time of bet? Also the slip shows yesterday’s date at 17.00 kick off?

People are so fickle it makes me laugh! Mr F could have ten great days, a dodgy couple of days and will get slated for the bad results. They don’t remember the good days!
For example, today I’ve had a great day (Nearly 5 out of 5; all odds against) but next weekend I could have 0 out of 5! There is only a limited amount of info at your disposal for your research. Sometimes I put in loads of research and have a poor return, other times I put in very little and get some cracking results. It is very strange.
Sport Tipster, that’s how it works. Sometimes I over-think things if anything when maybe I should go more with my gut feeling – as in Espanyol today. They were certs for my treble until a read a couple of things that put me off.

Some good wins today including the 2 tips I posted earlier, and a couple more speculative bets which I decided not to post. As I said earlier I’m new to this and I’ve just started keeping track of my betting and performance. Does anyone else do this and find it useful? If so what tips would you have? I’ve made myself an excel spreadsheet with records of bets, odds, results, and profit. At the beginning of today I had a bank of what I’ll call 2.5 units. After day one (early days, I know) the bank currently sits pretty at 22.2 Units, which is a 19.7 unit profit.
What do I do now though, up the stakes or continue with my 1 unit and .5 unit bets, and play it safe for when the losses start hitting?
