Jan 23: Jordan’s Sports Tips & Chat

Jordans_SportsTips

IT’S anyone’s title at the Australian Open now after Andy Murray followed Novak Djokovic in crashing to an early exit.

Murray was stunned by Mischa Zverev in the last 16 and golden oldie Roger Federer now stands as title favourite at 10-3 with BetBright, closely followed by US Open champ Stan Wawrinka (4-1, Paddy Power) and Milos Raonic (9-2, 888sport).

Rafa Nadal also hasn’t given up hope of adding to his sole Melbourne crown and he’s in fourth-round action this morning against Gael Monfils while the sole remaining British interest, Johanna Konta, takes on Ekaterina Makarova in the women’s last 16.

Let’s hear all your tips and chat and keep an eye out for Jordan’s US sports tips below.

    Obviously not a happy bunny with what’s going on in Atlanta, but Cooks yards are in, as is the first part of the advised double 👍🏻 I said the winner would have to put up 30+ to win, but this is ridiculous. Horrible way to end the season for the Pack but that’s the game. All on Mr Brady. Updates on the bets after the Pats game.

    So there it is for the Pack. A season over but considering we had an 8% chance to make the playoffs after our fourth straight defeat, it was a hell of a ride to get to the NFC Championship, beating the #1 seed along the way. I only posted one tip for the Packer game (hours before kick off and not five minutes after) and it was a winner with Jared Cook seeing the most targets and receptions, only being eclipsed for 4 yards by Cobb.

    Jared Cook (Green Bay Packers) Over 50.5 Receiving Yards @ 4/5 @ 365 – 5 points/Over 53.5 @ 5/6 @ PP – 3 points **WIN/WIN**

    To Run

    New England Patriots AFC Winners @ 11/10 @ William Hill – 7.5 points (Posted Week 10)

    Dion Lewis (New England Patriots) Anytime TD @ 7/4 @ Bwin – 2 points

    Advised Double

    New England Patriots ML – PENDING
    Packers/Falcons Over 51 Total Points – WON

    41/50 @ 365

    Cover there if anyone took it but you may not need it. Pats go up 3-0 early.

    Well done those of you that got bets up before the game started. Always good if you want to get followed.

    All American Football totals will be updated after the Super Bowl, but here’s an update for the Ante-Posts with a few that were tipped a few weeks ago, such as Matt Ryan to win the regular season MVP and the Patriots AFC winners a couple months back.

    Green Bay Packers NFC North Winners 8-11 @ betfair – 11 points **WIN**

    Ezekiel Elliott (Dallas Cowboys) Over 1110.5 Rushing Yards 5-6 @ 365 (now 1196.5 @ 4-5) – 6 points **WIN**

    Oakland Raiders to make the playoffs 5-4 @ 365/Betway – 4 points **WIN**

    Green Bay Packers – Super Bowl Winners 17-2 @ Skybet– 2 points **LOSE**

    Green Bay Packers NFC North
    New England Patriots AFC East

    51-50 @ Skybet– 8 points **WIN**

    Green Bay Packers NFC North
    New York Giants NFC East
    New England Patriots AFC East

    9-2 @ Skybet– 2 points **LOSE**

    Lamar Jackson Heisman Trophy Winner @ 11/10 @ PP – 10 points **WIN**

    Clemson +7 (College Championship) @ 3/4 @ 365 – 8 points **WIN**

    New England Patriots AFC Winners @ 11/10 @ William Hill – 7.5 points **PENDING**

    New England Patriots Super Bowl Winners @ 3/1 @ Marathon Bet – 2.5 points **PENDING**

    NFL MVP – Matt Ryan @ 5/4 @ PP – 4 points **PENDING**

    Not overly bad for somebody who ‘is wet behind the ears’ when it comes to NFL betting 😂

    Poor game from dieng getting into foul trouble in first half.poor choice really.never got going…on to the next day..

    Well done winners..

    NBA player prop record
    62 wins
    51 loss

    Cleveland Cavaliers -5.5 @ 4/5 @ Marathon Bet – 5 points

    The Pelicans are coming off a loss giving up 143 points to the worst team in the NBA. LeBron & Co off a hard fought loss at home against the Spurs. Davis still banged up and is questionable. Cavs don’t have a good record in New Orleans but should be winning these games. I can see this line being closer to 8 by tip off.

    Morning all, your main man Max here, I landed 4 out of 5 tips :-)

    I said a fortnight ago throwing “hail Mary’s” wasn’t the sign of a good team, it shows desperation, no QB or HC wants to be throwing Hail Mary’s but some got carried away by the packers. Last week a clutch catch and a 50+ FG won the day, but the big turning point was Rodgers calling a timeout to give him 20 seconds left. Newbie fans don’t always understand the game and the situation.

    Atlanta fully deserve their day in Houston 35ppg continued as they ripped apart the packers. The saving grace was this wasn’t the Superbowl, you want a great game, end to end, this unfortunately was done by half way through the second Quarter, as Rodgers folded like his O-line. I tipped his record of not throwing a pick would end last week (IT DID) and he lobbed another one tonight for a pick.

    I called it well again, Big Mo landed the TD on the first drive of the game, and I have said throughout the season/post this GB secondary is shocking, and Ryan easily covered his totally, think he put his slippers on in the 2nd and ended up with 390+

    NFC Tips

    Ryan O312.5yds WON
    Sanu O44.5yds WON

    Sanu 7/4 WON (1st TD AT 16/1)
    Cobb 11/8 Lost
    Jones 4/5 WON (Got a brace)

      Confirmed Superbowl will be Atlanta v New England

      Should be a cracker, two top franchises with great fans, especially Atlanta who’s loyal fans (more than 2yrs) deserve the chance in the sun, don’t right them off after they destroyed the cheeseheads.

    Pats go up 36-9 with six to play. Safe to say this one is over.

    New England Patriots AFC Winners @ 11/10 @ William Hill – 7.5 points **WIN**

    New England Patriots ML
    Packers/Falcons Over 51 Total Points

    41/50 @ 365 **WON**

    Dion Lewis (New England Patriots) Anytime TD @ 7/4 @ Bwin – 2 points **LOSE**

    Been a good couple of weeks in the playoffs. Think early lines for the Super Bowl were Pats as big as -9 against Atlanta but that’s yet to be seen. Offense vs Defense. Panthers vs Broncos and Seahawks vs Broncos are the two most recent that spring to mind. Brady will get his fifth ring imo. Cover should be available if anyone followed on the Pats to win the Super Bowl 👍🏻

    @jordan like the cavs choice mate good luck man….

    going for a early one too ..

    Early Double….

    Cavs -3.5
    Spurs -4.5
    Evens – bet 365

    cant see spurs slowing down after their overtime win against the cavs – they should beat the nets by at least 10 so adding them to the double with cavs- Leonard is unstoppable at the moment ..

    Great to see Rafa and Fed rolling back the years. Slightly up (only just) on the Aussie Open bets. Lots of upsets and strange results and as shown set betting definitely the way to go.
    Like the look of the over 3.5 set double on the Stan/Tsonga & Dimitrov/Goffin games at 6/5 (bet365). Will have a punt on the Nadal/Raonic game once more markets come out. Should be a a cracker!

      Also on over 31.5 games in the Fed/Zverev match at 4/5. Should be at least 4 sets but even if Fed wins in 3, I reckon one of the sets will at least go to a tiebreak so over 31 games has a good chance.

    @jordan at a fist glance Cavs -6 looks a real gift. There’s a lot of talk on twitter etc this being a trap-line.

    Honestly, Why isn’t the line like -9/-10? Is there something we don’t know? Lebron gonna be rested?

    So at first glance they really should cover this line but more often than not when we see a line that feels strange the outcome proves to be on the other side of first glance logics.

    Maybe a game is best left out of betting…

    Keep up the good work!

    • Profile photo of raoul duke
      raoul duke 1 year ago

      First up ‘trap lines’ Don’t exist. This is an idea that stems from betting paranoia, people get a bad loss on a line they don’t understand and start talking rubbish about a ‘trap line!!’.. it’s an excuse and paranoia.

      Cavs -6 makes perfect sense to me. They were -9 at home against New Orleans.. take away 3 points because Pels are the home team this time around. Simple as that.

      Lines have drifted to 7 because the public are putting heavy cash on Cavs. But I wouldn’t expect it to move much more.

      However, this line will drift alot if Davis is out.

    • Profile photo of Jordan
      Jordan 1 year ago

      Me and Raoul must have the same thoughts. Trap lines are a myth. Oddsmakers know exactly what they are doing when it comes to setting the line, and it is up to us as the punters to try and take advantage. You read too much into things sometimes mate. For instance I never go by h2h in NBA. The margin of a missed shot compared to a made shot is minute. Cavs will see public money every time they play, just because of LeBron, but public money doesn’t move lines, it’s sharp money that does. Trust me, I’m a Sports Trader and the company I work for has the power to move any line we like at Pinnacle, one of the largest US bookmakers.

    Roger Federer – Mischa Zverev
    Roger Federer :
    – after the premature removal of the top two favorites, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, Roger Federer has become the favorite to win the tournament;
    – Federer won against Nishikori in the previous round after a marathon 5 sets match, which lasted 3 hours 23 minutes;
    – to reach the quarterfinals of this tournament, Roger Federer won against Jurgen Melzer 3-1 , Noah Rubin and Thomas Berdych in straight sets;
    – Roger Federer won the tournament four times , the most recent performance was in 2010, when he defeated Andy Murray;
    – last year, Federer has reached the semifinals in this tournament, being eliminated by Novak Djokovic;
    =====================================================
    Mischa Zverev :
    – Mischa Zverev makes the greatest performance of his career, managed to qualify for the quarterfinals of this tournament;
    – the best performance at a Grand Slam for the German player before the Australian Open, was in 2008 3rd round at Wimbledon;
    – Mischa Zverev managed a very good tournament, being with Istomin, one of the pleasant surprises of the tournament (or not for punters :) )
    – in the first round, Zverev past Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 3-0, then, in the 2nd round won against American John Isner 3-1 , in round three Malek Jaziri 3-1, and in the last round, passed by the world leader, Andy Murray, 3-1;
    =====================================================
    The two players have met twice before, Federer won both games.
    The most recent confrontation took place in 2013 at Halle, Federer won with 6-0 / 6-0.
    Roger Federer has the first chance in this game, and I think it hard to believe that Mischa will succeed another surprise, after he won against Andy Murray. Usually, players who manage such performance have a fall from a mental standpoint.
    I’m counting on an easy victory to the Swiss, and I think we will see a success in straight sets and i’m counting on a less number of games that bookmakers are offering.
    ======================================================
    Bets to consider : Roger Federer – Mischa Zverev
    – under 32.5 games @ 1.87 (NB)
    – under 33.5 games @ 1.72 (NAP)
    😉

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit

      The Halle defeat has to be discounted. Zverev is a different player now and injury free.
      Federer is four years older but rightly hot favourite.
      I don’t see him winning in three but good luck with the bets.

    Not touched the basketball since my winner when the Warriors thrashed the Cavs.
    Back on nightshift tonight and i am going to back the following to make my night go in easier.

    Cavs -4.5
    Warriors -4.5
    Spurs -4.5

    9/5 – 2pts

    Really speaks for itself, Warriors and Spurs should easily win, Cavs the dodgy one but they are overdue a big performance.

    Cleveland Cavaliers @ New Orleans Pelicans

    Pick – Pelicans +6.5 @ 1.90 (PP)

    I’m going against the general consensus on this forum tonight.

    Cav’s haven’t been playing great lately, and losing to Spurs isn’t enough reason for me to back them tonight. They had a really poor West Coast road trip.. losing b2b games in Utah and Portland, and getting absolutely destroyed by Golden State, they lack consistency and heart.

    Prior to the Brooklyn game, New Orleans had been winning games at home, 5 of the previous 6 before that embarrassing loss against Brooklyn. This is a loss that some players have called the ‘worst of their entire career’, now that is a statement.

    The Pelicans usually give the Cav’s a tough game, and with the added motivation of putting that embarrassing loss behind them, I fancy the Pels to at least cover the spread.

    Good luck.

    Oklahoma City Thunder @ Utah Jazz

    Pick – Thunder +6 @ 1.90 (PP)

    Been going over this one most of the day, and was waiting on news on whether or not Steven Adams is going to start… but I’m not staying up much longer, and decided to play it anyway.

    Rotoworld states that Adams has traveled to Utah, so one would expect him to play…

    No time for a real write up – Thunder are on 4 days rest and looking to get revenge over Utah Jazz.

    2 underdogs tonight, lets hope its a decent start to the week.

    Good luck all.
