    Vibrato Valtat (NAP)

I can hear the outcry now, how can you Nap a horse who is running against Un De Sceaux or even Sire De Grugy

I am going to start with Un De Sceaux and jump straight in and say Who has he beat?
Yes he won the Arkle last year and won convincingly , but it was a pretty poor Arkle, some people will say Vibrato Valtat was in the Arkle and got beat 13 lengths but I will give my reasons.

Sire De Grugy he isn’t the horse he was and everyone on here knows I think Special Tiara would have beaten him in the Tingle Creek
Vibrato Valtat was in that race as well and he was the favourite.
I tipped Special Tiara at 16/1 because like this race on Saturday, the better horses don’t always win
I like to run the race through in my mind, looking at how it could be run, working out each horse for the course, the conditions and the most likely race scenario.
Sire De Grugy still has some ability but a lot of questions have been asked so far this season with some hard races.

Now Vibrato Valtat, well I will start straight away and say I know he isn’t the best horse here but I strongly believe he will win,
Jockey Noel Fehily has never lost on him, 2 out of 2
He also has a good record at Ascot with 10 winners from 47 rides over the last 3 years but he has also had 18 placed

My belief is Ascot will suit Vibrato Valtat being a stiff course, the conditions will be ideal for him and I like the attitude of this horse.

I expect like everyone else that Un De Sceaux will go off in front, I am then thinking Sire De Grugy & Traffic Fluide will be contesting for 2nd and 3rd with Vibrato Valtat & Simply Ned at the back.
Even with the conditions and stiff track I am looking at Un De Sceaux making this a good pace, at halfway Sire De Grugy to start pressing Un De Sceaux with Traffic Fluide being passed by Vibrato Valtat & Simply Ned,
Simply Ned to be the next under pressure with Vibrato Valtat in 3rd
I want a good battle upfront between Un De Sceaux & Sire De Grugy as I think they will cut each other’s throats and leave Vibrato Valtat to pick up the pieces as Sire De Grugy tires along with Un De Sceaux who’s jumping starts to let him down.

I make it sound so easy

Paul Nicholls has been quite bullish about the chances of Vibrato Valtat, stating that the conditions along with the extra distance will be right up his street,
He says that his most likely target at Cheltenham will be the Ryanair because of the distance and that the only way he would run in the Queen Mother Champion Chase was if the ground was bottomless.

Sam Twiston-Davies has said how disappointed he is not to be riding Vibrato Valtat, he is going to Haydock to ride The New One but said Saturday is a day where he wished he could be in two places at the same time and the reason is Vibrato Valtat

Been looking at vibrato valtats wins.
Not much there, likes of God’s own, dunraven storm, Irish saint etc, honest horses but not top drawer.
He beat sire de grugy in november, but got a lump of weight and grugy has posted a near career best since v sprinter Sacre.
Sire de grugy for me, valtat 2nd, un de sceaux to fall again.

Here are John’s Australian open tips. Unfortunately I missed the first tip which has just won, because I forgot to scroll through 150+ comments on the “other sports” thread.

The later stages of a slam is harder to find bigger odds winners but here goes

    Australian Open

JOHANNA CONTA -4.5 games 6/4 NAP paddy power

    Madison Keys v Ana Ivanovic
ANA IVANOVIC to win 7/5 NB betvictor stanjames

Going to have a very small go on one more
The 3.05 at navan is as poor a race as you get and usually in these type of races something makes the frame at a big price so im going to try SHABRAS BERTOLINI 33/1 Lad. Has won over 2m off 98 and 104 and is in here off 95. His record over this distance is not great though but its such a poor race he might be a bit of value. Boyles are as low as 20s so loose change ew.

I stopped backing both teams to score ages ago because the amount of games that finish 1-1 means it’s not worth taking the shorter odds compared to both to score & over 2.5 goals
I am not someone that backs short odds anyway because there are plenty of bets out there that give you decent odds to just have a single,
Hopefully I have proved this in the tennis, where my only NAP not to win was a player who retired,
my other 5 Naps have all been between 1/1 & 3/1 which is decent going on tennis.

I feel this can be done with any sport as the road to ruin is backing odds on

    Tenerife v Numancia (Sunday 4pm)
BOTH TO SCORE & OVER 2.5 GOALS 8/5 NAP william hill bet365

Seems everyone on here was impressed with Un De Sceaux, I must be the only person that sees a horse that doesn’t jump well, a horse that jumps slow but for some reason jockeys won’t take him on, probably because it’s so close to Cheltenham

For everyone who wants to lump on for Cheltenham, one word of warning he will be taken on in that race

    • Profile photo of gengar
      gengar 9 months ago

personally i dont think he jumps to well but as you say until we see someone actually challenge him were not going to know if its just false praise or if the horse is as good has hes record suggests

    • Profile photo of

Who is going to take him on Johnb ? Ar Mad if he gets entered thats it its got alot to prove going left handed in that class nothing else will want to go that fast early on.
It will be a single figure field the way Un De Sceaux settles now a’m sure he could even sit behind Ar Mad and pick that up turning for home.
You took it on today with a horse thats not in the same class and clearly needs at least 2 and a half miles you also put your eggs into the basket hoping UDS would tire have you ever seen it tire at the end of its race before because i havnt. You must have forgot it pulled 6 lengths clear after the last at Cheltenham and its also won over 2 and half in France on heavy ground its a freak tanks along faster than anything but still see’s out the race better than anything its ever run against.
To say it jumps slow lol you must have been watching Vibrato Valtat a would say it jumped some fences today careful simply because Ruby did not have to extend it i would say its traveling speed like Douvan is very deceiving alot faster than it looks.
Thats the great thing about racing everybody has there opinions you keep taking on the machines from the Mullins stables and we will keep collecting.

      • Profile photo of duncanpoundcake
        duncanpoundcake 9 months ago

Mullins says he will come on for today’s run .If/when he learns to settle properly I wouldn’t rule out a crack at the Gold Cup in the future all being well .

        • Profile photo of

Personally duncan 1 horse i think that could give it a race is Vautour but they wont run against each other but if UDS didnt make Chelt for some reason i know what race Vautour would run in as long as Djakadam comes through its race next week and keeps its fav status for the Gold Cup.

      • Profile photo of Johnb
        Johnb 9 months ago

I was astonished when you took uds on and I’m even more astonished now by that comment. They wouldn’t take him on simply because they couldn’t. He will win the CC doing handstands providing he stays on his feet

        • Profile photo of

I agree duncan thats why i took the 9/4 so i dont have to bet it odds on the Champ chase could cut up badly meaning it will stay a short price. It has fell twice but both times have been 1st time up when its probably been to fresh its never looked like falling in its other races. Roll on Chelt

Discipline is the main thing mate never chase your money on horses you never picked to start with never bet for the sake of it because if that loses youl be p/ssed off and start chasing
If you pick a loser there always the next day or the next ect ect some great tipsters on here but its always an easier feeling losing from your own tips than some1 elses if that makes any sense lol.

That’s what I was doing just betting for sake of it. Boredom more than anything. now I look at maybe 5 horses do my NAP as a single then I throw it in with two other NAPs from on here and it’s working quite well keeping the bank intact and not withering it away on non fancies. My dbl the other day for instance I took one of your pics and alanm’s Nap got it up aswell as my own pic. I’m finding it more profitable. Started on the horses Melbourne Cup not last but year before backing every once in a while. Now I’m getting to know abit. This site has some awesome tipsters 👍Now I’d rather horses or NBA than the football

Yeh your doing great mate av followed horses for over 25 years but a’m not big on low grade races without inside knowledge to much jiggery pokery goes on lol i make my money from big ish stake singles or a double on short ish prices and finding anti post bets i have over 40 running just now mostly on horses with a few dogs. Football is the same singles or doubles.
For me Cheltenham is the best week of the year lol how sad is that

Un de Sceaux is a worthy ante post favourite for the Champion Chase. He may not be foot perfect as a jumper but people were saying that about Kauto Star throughout his glittering career.

I don’t see another horse being able to match him for speed early in the race and still have a chance of challenging on the turn for home. Both Sprinter Sacre and Sire de Grugy are probably past their absolute peak and must be vulnerable to an improving type.

The value may have gone but Un de Sceaux still rates the most likely winner.

Pretty poor stuff tomorrow from a betting perspective as i just hate chelmsford as i dont think ive ever had a winner at the track and havent even looked at the card and most of the leopardstown card looks straight forward so ive had a good look at the 2.30 and 3.25 races.
The 2.25 im going to have an ew on JUST GET CRACKING @ 14/1 b365. Paul Townsend has just the 2 rides tomorrow. Nicholls Canyon and the selection. He has 2 career victories to his name both times when Townsend was the jockey. LTO he was bang there over 21f before fading. The drop back in trip will benefit and running off the same mark today i think the 14s on offer could be value.
The 3.35 was even harder to decide so im going to see how my selection gets on in the 2.25 first before having a bet as if he runs well then i will go for CLAR NA MIONN who beat him by 4L LTO. If he runs poorly then i think ill leave it alone.
