MY Super Single losses have almost been wiped out after Algeria fought back from 1-0 down to beat South Africa 3-1 at the African Cup of Nations.
The 5pt profit means I’m less than half a point down this year – but that doesn’t take into account cover bets that put that figure in the black for me.
There were chances to cover Algeria again when they led 2-1 late on and cheers for those who put up the advice while I watched the Everton game in the boozer and tried to stay awake.
On a night of few games I attempted to put together a 0.5pt Trixie – and it ended with one void (West Brom draw no bet), one loser (Perugia dnb) and one winner Ghana v Senegal btts.
There’s a busy enough card on Tuesday and I’ve put up a separate preview on Liverpool v Chelsea with the advice to be to see confirmed starting line-ups before having a bet.
There is one game in the Scottish Premiership with Inverness entertaining St Johnstone and the Highlanders could edge this. They had a break at the weekend and have won seven and drawn three of their last 11 at home to the Perth outfit.
Inverness are a best 1-1 at Betfred and Billy Mckay, four goals in three games, is 4-1 at McBookie to score first.
African Nations Cup favourites Ivory Coast are in action against Guinea and I fancy them to win well – Ivory Coast minus one is 13-8 at McBookie and BetVictor and is my Super Single in Tuesday’s Daily Record. Man City’s £28million new boy Wilfried Bony is 4-1 at bet365 to score first.
Ivory Coast -1 may follow Algeria as an African Nations Cup single but I want to take a better look at the English games in the morning before making a decision. Cameroon face Mali in the other game and are a best 21-20 with the likes of Betfred and Ladbrokes.
In the Championship there are two games and I like Middlesbrough at home to Cardiff while Leeds entertain Bournemouth. Leeds battled well against Birmingham to beat the Super Single last weekend and while Bournemouth are flying I hate taking teams at such short prices – 8-11 is the best on offer.
Middlesbrough are unbeaten in 10 away – winning their last three – while Cardiff have won once on the road in just under a year but battled well against Norwich at the weekend to lose 3-2 and missing a penalty after trailing 3-0 at the break.
Preston, without a win in four, tackle basement boys Yeovil in League and Doncaster face Notts County while Oldham v Rochdale has already been postponed.
On the Continent there are cup clashes in Italy, France, Holland and Belgium with the likes of Roma, PSV, Lyon, Bastia and Bruges in action. Again team news will be key for these games.
Roma I see have said they’ll field a full-strength team at home to lowly Serie A rivals Empoli. The capital side are unbeaten at home this season and keen to lift the trophy. They are around 1-3.
After checking team news and stats my Top Treble is Middlesbrough, Preston and Roma. Leeds beat Bournemouth at Dean Court and instead of a short away I’m putting that on my both to score line.
For the Super Single I’m I’m taking Dover at home to Wrexham in the Conference as a 3-pointer which allows me two points to play with. And having seen Chelsea’s unchanged line-up I’m putting the two points on them.
Dover are on a run of 12 games unbeaten and hammered Dartford 6-1 at home at the weekend. Wrexham crashed 4-0 at home to bottom club Telford at the weekend and that was a shocking result. They’re a tough side to predict at times but Dover are on the up and should win this.
I’ve decided to put the two African Cup games on the both to score line – only one match so far has been no to both to score – with Leeds v Bournemouth and Nantes v Lyon. The French game has seen both score in nine of the last 11 meetings.
