ANOTHER big name bit the dust at the Masters on Monday and today it's lift-off for The Rocket's glory bid.
Judd Trump was stumped 6-4 by Stephen Maguire, who is joined in the quarter-finals by Neil Robertson after the world No.1 beat Robert Milikins 6-4. Now it's Ronnie O'Sullivan in the spotlight and before hitting a ball in the tournament the title favourite has already been cut to 6-4 (Coral) following the shock exits of Trump and world champ Mark Selby.

In December 2020 we sadly 
Stakhovsky….what an absolute mug. There were maybe two points in the entire match where he actually tried to move Del Potro around the court and he won them both. How does he not know that is what you need to do to beat a completely match-unfit player? Low error count, move them around. Instead we had double faults and unforced errors at the most inopportune moments. Useless.
Oh well, I’m pleased DelBoy is back anyway. The game has missed him big time. He served pretty well and cracked a few big forehands so that’s a good sign.
Luckily Soeda landed the 7/5 nap and Watson upset Stephens which i suggested @ 13/8. A Madison Keys win would be lovely as that will keep my 50/1 title tip alive.
Then it’s up to Kanepi/Bautista Agut and Tomic to bring the treble in and make it a good night.

James, I agree it’s not a shoe in as CG is lethal on her day. But her last match was a joke. There were 10 consecutive breaks of serve in the third set and she hit 23 double faults in the match! I don’t think she will be able to find enough consistency this quickly to get past a KK in decent shape. Kanepi was backed quite heavily yesterday afternoon which convinced me.
However, looking again now and there’s been money coming in for Giorgi. Hopefully that is just people seeing the bigger odds and getting lured in.

Indeed. And the trouble with Giorgi is she doesn’t know how to player her way into a match. She just hits and hits and even if she’s missing she keeps on doing the same thing. if she had a lower gear, a steady rallying game, she could be a top 10 player, because the one gear she does have is almost unplayable when it’s working.

Southampton are my Super Single in tomorrow’s Daily Record going on team news that says Ipswich have beem hit by a virus and have several players struggling. <r F- I'm not sure Ipswich will rotate any more than they did in the original tie nor any more than Southampton do. Both will have one eye on their Saturday fixture but both will be keen to win this too with Palace waiting for the victor.
If this virus has effected the players that are playing then that will make life very difficult for them, but if it just means they're missing the three named as being out because of it then I don't see it being a huge blow. None of them started the original fixture. They will want to put in a good showing in front of their own fans and keep their momentum going.
