SATURDAY sees the Final of the Qatar Open and it's hard to see past in-form Tomas Berdych lifting the trophy.

The world No.3 dished out a drubbing to Andreas Seppi in yesterday's semi-final and has yet to drop a set on his way to the Final where he is 1-2 to triumph. He's up against world No.4 David Ferrer, who squeezed past Novak Djokovic's conqueror Ivo Karlovic in a tie-break yesterday and is 17-10 to grab glory.

Elsewhere, Stan Wawrinka is the even-money favourite for the Chennai Open title and today the Swiss is 1-2 in his semi-final against 9-5 outsider David Goffin.

And there's final action in the women's singles with Maria Sharapova 2-5 against Ana Ivanovic (13-5) in the Brisbane International this morning.

It's a big night in the NFL with New England Patriots v Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional play-off followed by Seattle Seahawks v Carolina Panthers in the NFC.

At the South African Open golf England's Andy Sullivan holds a one-shot lead at the halfway stage but is only second favourite for the title at 7-2 behind closest challenger and former Major champ Charl Schwartzel (7-4).

There's also semi-final action at the BDO World Darts and plenty more betting opportunities on a jam-packed day of sport so post your tips and thoughts here.

    NFL Ravens @ Patriots

I said last weekend, when Baltimore hammered Pittsburgh that this was the matchup I was really looking forward too, in the divisional rounds. Yes there will be plenty offence elsewhere, but in Foxborough in January its going to be cold and if you, like me like your NFL smash mouth and tough defence this is the game for you. New England are red hot favourites 1/3 and most NFL experts take the Patriots to win, but I am taking the Ravens +7pts on the handicap at 10/11 Coral.

The reason I like this game and I mentioned it last week, is I cant wait to see the matchup between Tom Brady versus this Ravens D. In a dome its Brady all day, outdoors it could be different. Ravens are only 4-4 on the road this season, while Pats are 7-1 at home. This is the big reason pats are huge favs and fancied by many. History tells you that most home teams in the divisional week wins, more than any other round in the playoffs, Oh and Brady has won 56 out his last 59 at home.

These two sides are very evenly matched, Ravens defence is ranked 23rd against the pass, while Pats are 17th against the pass. C J Anderson will find running lanes tough against the ravens run d who rank 4th, whilst Pats rank 9th against the run, most of the time they are in the lead and forcing opponents to throw the ball, so they run less, leading to better stats. Ravens wont have Ray Rice obviously but he ran for 270+yds and 3tds in 3 playoff games recently versus Patriots, with Baltimore winning 2 out the last 3 playoff games. It is worth noting “Gronk” didn’t play in 2 out those 3 games.

I fancied the Ravens defence to give Brady trouble having watched them last week, they sacked Big Ben 5 times last week, and while I don’t expect them to dominate the Patriots line, as Brady is the main man in New England and you pay those big O line men the big money to protect your franchise, however they could rush him, force him backwards in the pocket, get some knockdowns, and take away the run game.

To go to Brady’s and Belichick’s house and beat them is tough that’s why the Ravens are 5/2 underdogs, but against all experts and analysis, I am sticking my neck on the line and taking the 7pt start, and if there is a shock this weekend in the NFL, it maybe this one. For me it simply this, who do you like more Brady v Ravens D?

BALTIMORE +7PTS TO BEAT NEW ENGLAND

Good luck if your having a bet

Chief CJ plays for Denver. You have Peyton on your mind again haha ;)

I don’t think you’re wrong about the Ravens hence why I’ve left the Pats out of my main double. I’d never back against Brady and Belichick at Foxborough though which is why I’ve taken the bet bundle for all the homes to win on a smaller stake.

    in play:

    Wozniaki to win 2-0 v Williams @ 4/7
Just sealed the first set v comfortably.

Serving well. Playing. Giving little away. Breezy conditions suiting her.

My bets are all guts so not necessarily tips. I’m giving the 17 point start for Carolina as Luke Kuechly and the Carolina secondary showed they were in the playoffs for a reason last week. Holding the Cardinals to 78 total yards albeit a 4th string QB. Wilson and the Seahawks a big step up in opposition, but Carolina managed to hold the Seahawks to 13 points in week 8. Losing 13-9 in Carolina (5 field goals and 1 Seattle TD) I think the 17 point lead is more than enough as the money has been seen all week for Carolina on the 11 point spread. Seattle have only scored more than 20 points twice in 7 games.

The Green Bay Packers have had the extra week to rest against the Cowboys, and it’s a good job as Aaron Rodgers will be playing through a torn calf muscle. The top two QB‘s in the league if you go by ESPN’s QB ratings, will be facing off together in the Cold of Wisconsin. Dallas haven’t played in temperatures under 32 degrees F all season. Weather permitted is set to be the low 20’s. I have a had back and that suffers in our UK weather so no doubt Romo will be struggling in a short week having only practiced from Wednesday. The last time we saw Romo on a short week was Thanksgiving, where they were pumped 33-10 at home by the Eagles. Aaron Rodgers has thrown 29 TD passes with no INT’s at the Lambeau. Although Dallas are in the playoffs, they rank 26th against the pass on the season. Not a stat you want to be taking into a cold night at the Lambeau field. Green Bay have covered the -2 at home in every game this season, fingers crossed Rodgers calf holds out the whole game.

The TD scorers are more or less the highest scoring players going up against the oppositions weak points. Lynch is capable of punching in a TD against anybody (13 rushing TD’s this season and 4 receiving) with CJ Anderson scoring 7 TD’s in 4 games for the Broncos. A first and goal for both teams will have a high probability of named scorers converting. The same with DeMarco Murray for the Cowboys who has a TD in each of his last 6 games.

Good luck if anybody follows but if I wasn’t confident I wouldn’t post.

  6. Jordan 9 years ago

My reference to Romo’s back injury is supposed to say ‘I’ve had a bad back that suffers in our UK weather’ :D

Wasn’t good odds for usual Bonkers Bet markets so instead I’ve gone for an Insane one.

New England Patriots by 1-6 points
    Seattle Seahawks by 7-12 points
Green Bay Packers by 7-12 points
    Denver Broncos by 13-18 points

@ a measly 712/1 @ WillHill (I’ve put a tenner on it but might be worth a pound for anybody interested)

F**king womens tennis! Really grinds my gears sometimes!

Venus goes from looking just terrible in the first set to looking her best in the second, and Wozniaki goes from her best to looking terrible. If this was men’s tennis i’d lump on Venus after that set. But that’s exactly what I did after the first and look where that got me!!

(Apologies I did post in the previous thread not realising this one was up)

Attila, Huggy and others for a bit of a fun rolling bet I would be interested in seeing your daily recommendation for a single or double @ around 1.5 (points total or alternative spread)

    So:
    £5 rolling @ 1.5 per day would be around £85 after 7 days (14 days £1459).
    £10 rolling @ 1.5 per day would be around £170 after 7 day(14 days £2919).

Obviously I know 7 straight is a lot to ask for let alone 14, but just to give an example of returns. It’s definitely something I’m considering when the baseball season starts, with total runs, total hits, team runs and team hits.

  11. Ad 9 years ago

    Serena to beat Radwanska 2-0 @ 8/11
    (07:00am Hopan Cup)

If this was a mid season match and this price was available Id be going big! It’s not though, so keeping stakes level. But serena always beats Radwanska 2-0 and its just not a good matchup for the Pole. Serenas been a bit off so far this week but it would be a mighty shock to see her shocked here.

  12. Ad 9 years ago

    Another nudge:

If you haven’t backed Nishikori to win the Australian open yet….do it now! He won’t be at 16/1 for long. With cilic/ tsonga not playing and doubts over Rafa he may not even have to beat anyone other than one of Novak/ Roger! And I think he could manage that anyway.

Raonic is serving and playig very well but Nishi is still somehow comfortably on top. No breaks yet but I think he’ll get there in the end. I’m off to bed and really hope I don’t wake up to a Raonic win and egg on my face!

    @ Huggy and co

Looks like the rolling acca idea has some legs, may I suggest/request Huggy that you highlight your stronger bets (singles) so we can cherry pick and have a go at the 10 in a row using your stronger singles, i.e rolling up your strongest bets but not on a daily basis (one a week would do me) . You mention earlier that you increase stakes from 5 pts on those selections you feel extra confident wit, these are the ones I would suggest using in a rolling acca !!
    Cheers M

Heads up on a good banker bet for tonight. Rola is 2/5 to beat falla who is desperately struggling on serve. he was broken 5 times against a guy ranked outside the top 1500 in his last match. This is a problem I noticed at the end of last season and he clearly hasn’t fixed it. Odds will fall so take it early if you like the sound of it

  26. huggybear 9 years ago

thanks guys , kind words , hope your all with me when i get it horribly wrong. Last night was a good night and called them to near perfection , long time till that`ll happen again.
level stakes guys , dont get carried away with my run of luck.
Attila shocker of a result phillys getting a win smells a bit fishy to me , hope you made money off that treble . sadly i went 1 point win but its all ££££`s.

Rolling acca is placed and iv`e done 2 sides i like backing , taking the higher spread to keep this going , probably till 4.00am lol…

chicago should beat the young bucks after 2 blowout defeats recently but iv`e taken a large point spread at a low price thinking young legs will keep em near , also my favs in action again , utah again houston will and should win but also believe in utah`s ability to stay in the game with another large points advantage.

so the rolling acca is on

    bucks +14
    utah +18

they lose by more than that they deserve shagging …..

    £20.86 returns £37.08

    fingers crossed !!!

  27. Ad 9 years ago

Woken up to a rubbish set of results!
Can’t believe Raonic overhauled Nishi, the Japan man was threatening to break all the time, that serve and forehand can keep you in any match I suppose.
And furious I didn’t go with my initial instinct that Radwanska might upset Serena and gave in to the compelling stats instead. Never again!

Halep and Sharapova both won their tournaments so that’s an 11/4 and a 9/4 winner landed. Could do with Goffin upsetting Stan to give me a shot at another.

Chardy is evens to beat querrey over the weekend that seems generous to me. Any thoughts

    WTA Sydney

    Kvitova @ 5/1
    Keys 50/1

Petra will be delighted with the draw in Sydney. Sitting at the top of the top half, number 1 seed Halep’s path to the final looks likely to be: Pliskova, Lisicki/Svitolina/Makarova, Radwanska/Kerber…

Sitting at the bottom of the bottom half, Kvitovas path looks likely to be: Peng, Cibulkova/ Petkovic, Keys/Wozniaki….

That’s a significantly less testing run in my opinion, and coming off a title run this week Halep may have a little fatigue, though it’s probably too early in the season for that to be a real issue.

All in all I like Petra’s chances and can’t pick a winner from the other half of the draw as there are too many dangerous players there. It’s for that reason Keys is my second best pick this week. In the weaker half as well she has the game to beat Wozniaki and everyone else around her if he plays her best tennis. That’s not a given by any means, but makes her worth a risk at these odds.

  30. Attila 9 years ago

My Single tonight is JAZZ +11.0 @ $1.92.

As huggy says, they’ll keep it tight even tho Rockets should win by a couple. Young Jazz team are quality and have moved away from their poor early season form.

Am also on the rolling double :-)

Btw Huggy – wasn’t on ur Treble cos I didn’t express confidence in it and I’ve lost all mine, LOL.

    • Attila 9 years ago

*sorry, meant to say cos ‘you’ didn’t express confidence in it, lol

    • Attila 9 years ago

*I actually got Jazz at +11.5 at that price, so that’s the tip…not +11.0.

  31. heimdall 9 years ago

Ad, petra is the most inconstant player of top100.
just send her to hell… and forget her .

Never bet on her and against her on small odds.

  32. huggybear 9 years ago

no i see that mate , always the way , ones you dont have great confidence fly in…

love if we could take the rolling double somewhere

  33. Ad 9 years ago

Heimdall- yes, Petra is definitely very frustrating at times. But she’s also definitely not the most inconsistent in the top 100! She won Wimbledon and New Haven last year and made back to back finals in China. She made the semis before being upset this week and she’s certainly made worse starts to seasons! She could have a shocker and go out in the first round, but I think it’s worth backing the real Petra to turn up @ 5/1. If she does thats going to prove a bargain.

  34. Ad 9 years ago

I do agree with not backing her to win individual matches though, the value is often in backing the upset.

    Del Potro v Stakhovsky

    Sydney, Sunday 22:00

Delpo is one of my favourite players on tour and a world beater on his day. However, this is his first match in nearly A YEAR, and im surprised he is so short for the win. Id love to see him come back with a bang, but 19/10 for Stakhovsky, who is a decent player and strong behind his serve, seems like the value bet.

    In play-
    13/8 Berdych to win

Berdych has just dropped the first set to Ferrer. He started slowly but has hit his groove now and if he starts the second well i think he will go on to win this match. He has the extra power to hurt Daveed and I think he will make it count.

    Baltimore @ New England

I have posted my thoughts on tonight’s game, and these are my anytime and player props for the game, starting with a prop from each team I like Forsett to rush for O65.5yds at 10/11 Ladbrokes. Baltimore don’t really want to get into a shootout with Tom Brady, so they will lean on Forsett, he leads the league in yds per carry at just over 5yds even though the pats run d is good, Forsett should get enough carries to sail over this line, and one missed tackle and the big guy is gone, I can see him going closer to 80yds.

The Patriot prop revolves around star QB Tom Brady (only Stan James ive seen have this market, but could be worth keeping an eye on closer to kickoff for any Brady Specials) and the bet here is Brady to throw an interception at evens. He as only thrown nine on the season but patriots may struggle to run the ball and especially if they fall behind expect Brady to be throwing 40+ times tonight, with pressure coming from tackle machine CJ Mosley and the pass rushing duo Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumerville. They destroyed the Steelers and Brady doesn’t move in the pocket like Big ben does, so every chance he throws a INT if not more if his offensive line doesn’t hold up.

In the anytime scorer, no surprise I am sticking with my guy Forsett. he has 8 rushing tds this season and is 11/10 William Hill, and for the Patriots ” Gronk” is pretty short so I am going with WR Brandon LaFell who as 7tds. The Baltimore safeties are probably the weak link of their defence and I expect the pats to put the game in Brady’s hands so LaFell 11/8 William Hill for me.

    Prop Bets

    FORSETT O65.5yds 10/11
BRADY TO THROW AN INTERCEPTION 1/1

    Anytime scorers

    FORSETT TO SCORE 11/10
    LAFELL TO SCORE 11/8

Good luck if your having a bet

Unbelievable. Berdych has absolutely bottled it today. On every big point he has crumbled in dramatic fashion. How does someone as experienced as him play so badly in clutch moments against someone hes played so many times before. Three set points a moment ago and he blows them all, then goes on to get broken straight away. Bad start to the weekend.

Rola was pointed out by Brian tennis to beat Falla and that looks a good pick. 2/5.

that 5-fold pays 6.24 and I’ll be on that. But take the ones you like the look of and leave out the ones you don’t.

Chief top tipping on the Pats game mate. How about it from Edelman? What a game!

  73. Ad 9 years ago

    ATP Sydney

    Stakhovsky @ 66/1
    Kyrgios @ 20/1
    Kohlschreiber 10/1

The headlines in Sydney are all about the long awaited return of Juan Martin Del Potro. The defending champion has been out of the game with injury for nearly a year, and has been given a wildcard and a decent draw here. However much Id like to tip him, it doesn’t seem realistic to expect him to come back firing on all cylinders after so long out. His quarter of the draw isn’t particularly strong though, with a slumping Fognini waiting for the winner of his first round match with Stakhovsky. It’s a risky pick as the odds suggest, but I’m backing the big serving Ukranian to get past a rusty Delpo and a disinterested Fognini.

Staying in the top half of the draw im taking another risk on young Nick Kyrgios. The talented, charismatic, huge hitting Aussie will have home support on his side and certainly has the weapons to beat everyone here if he’s on form. As he hasn’t played yet this season there’s no way to know if he’ll hit the ground running, but a first round match against Janowicz could be good for him, and if he gets through that he could go very deep indeed.

Finally, and less speculatively, I’m backing Kohlschreiber who’s sitting in the bottom half of the draw. He hasn’t played yet this year as opposed to Goffin who’s the title favourite @ 9/2 after a semi final showing this week. But I’d rather go with the German at double the price in what is a very open field. WTA Sydney

Decent picks Iddy, I think there are slightly safer ones out there though. Cannot see past Safarova, but we shall see. Nothing’s that safe at this point

  75. Ad 9 years ago

Safarova/Rola/Johnson is my best bet for the night.
    Pays 1.74
I’ve posted the other players I like above and am on all of them too.

I’m a little wary of Gajdasova Id. She’s got big shots and she will be a real threat in this one if she plays well and Petkovic is a little off. Home advantage etc etc.

  77. Jordan 9 years ago

    4/4 chief excellent mate!

  82. max 9 years ago

Chief thanks for those Nfl tips only took the anytime scorers as I did with Kane and Berahino and Hazard, and Ravens with the start so cheers buddy. On to Jordans double now fancy Carolina to stay within 17 tonight :)

  83. Jordan 9 years ago

    Here’s hoping Max. Good luck!

  84. max 9 years ago

cheers Jordan, hope Carolina get a touchdown first then it should be plain sailing for tonight, then onto Green bay tomorrow :) Do u fancy man u this afternoon mate?

  85. leecunliffe 9 years ago

Chief just woke up after afternoon session amazing tipping onto tonight game

    Seattle -11.5 10/11
    Anytime scorer Stewart 9/5
    Dough Baldwin wincast 2/1

  86. leecunliffe 9 years ago

Oh yeah mashawn lynch anytime scorer 4/6 he will have big game tonight don’t know if you can back home to score more yards second half than first but think he will trample carolina 2nd half

  87. Jordan 9 years ago

I’d like to think we’ll win. It’s a big 3 points and we only have Ashley Young injured so I can’t see why we can’t win. Won’t be on the game myself mate.

  88. leecunliffe 9 years ago

Hey Jordan long time no speak just posted on main thread or will have if my post has loaded as lost one on here few hrs ago annoyingly but I gone 2-1 to us we can have all defenders back but they ain’t good enough still expect us win tho so gone 2-1.

  89. Jordan 9 years ago

Hello Lee hope you’re well mate. Yes I took an oath with myself to not bet as much in the new year so sticking to the NFL with my money mostly. Yeah seems about the right sort of result for me mate. Open up a nice little gap for those champions league places :) Be interesting to see what line up we go with. Still don’t think Van Gaal knows his best team.

  90. leecunliffe 9 years ago

Will be interesting to see if he goes 3 or 4 at back mate and if rojo comes back in I hope he keeps the 3 at back as that seems be his philosophy and let’s face it compared to last season debacle it’s more impressive

  91. max 9 years ago

Cheers Jordan and lee, I fancy a man u win just curious if u liked saints to score against ur side, thinking 10 quid out tonight’s winnings on 2-1 man utd at 8/1

  92. Jordan 9 years ago

I’m going to go out on a limb and name the side.

De Gea, Shaw, Rojo, Smalling, Jones, Valencia, Carrick, Di Maria, Rooney, Falcao, Van Persie.

Can’t see it being too different to that. Won’t see us almost EVS at home too often this season so might have to take a small wager.

  93. Ad 9 years ago

Saints to get something at Old Trafford I reckon. I’ve not been very impressed by United over their last few games. Blunt going forward despite all that talent up top. Especially take second half performances against Spurs and Stoke. Though Di Maria could make the difference for sure.

  94. Jordan 9 years ago

Hmm dunno Ad we’re a lot better at home since our opening day defeat although agreed on our performance against Stoke. We should have tucked the game away in the first half against Spurs if I’m honest though. Freshest squad we’ve had all season. Mane out for Saints. All things point to 3 points for United and get a bit of breathing room for a week or so. That’s what my heart says anyway :D

  95. huggybear 9 years ago

well the super single became void as pistons won 98-93 so no money lost there , but here`s the reason why we got no wedge today when waking up….

0:06 91-98 Brandon Jennings misses free throw 1 of 2

0:06 91-98 Brandon Jennings misses free throw 2 of 2

missed 2 free throws with 6 seconds left with the score at 98-91 , wat a bellend….

    post on todays thread 2
