I'D like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and let's hope for some punting success in 2017.

There are only two Premier League games to look at on New Year's Day ahead of a busy Monday card and while I probably shouldn't I'm going to put up a Super Single or Daily Double featuring the Arsenal v Crystal Palace and Watford v Spurs matches.

Spurs' form has picked up since they were knocked out of the Champions League and they were impressive 4-1 winners at Southampton on Wednesday after conceding an early goal. They netted two against 11 men and two more after Nathan Redmond was sent off and I can see them scoring 2+ against an injury-hit Watford side with one win in six.

That's a much better price of 5-6 with Paddy Power than 7-10 to win the game and the odds are just about OK for a Super Single.

Back on-form Harry Kane is evens with Marathonbet to net at any time while Dele Alli is 2-1 at bet365.

Arsenal should beat Crystal Palace but there is the Sam Allardyce factor to consider and they are half the price of Spurs at 7-20. Big Sam's side were immediately better at Watford and would have one barring a missed penalty.

Finding value in the Arsenal game isn't easy. However, having looked at stats maybe over 2.5 goals is the best bet. Allarydyce has visited the Emirates 12 times as a boss, losing nine and drawing three. Interesting even though he'll try to keep it tight his sides have conceded 26 goals so again Arsenal to score 2+ is likely at 2-5 with boylesports.

Arsene Wenger's men bounced back from defeats to Everton and Man City by digging deep to beat West Brom 1-0 so should have enough to take the points against a side missing a few players such as Joe Ledley, James McArthur and Damian Delaney.

I'm sure we'll see National League tips from people who know that set-up better than me. I was tempted to have a look but come one it's Hogmanay into New Year's Day and time for a couple of beers.

My Super Singles total for December finished 9.5pts up after Southend conceded a last-minute equaliser against Charlton. I couldn't advise cover as I was driving to the office but I'm sure anyone on it will have checked.

Elsewhere the accumulators fell just short with the biggest disappointment the both to score treble. Clyde v Annan came up nicely and Morton kept it alive with a last-gasp equaliser at St Mirren.

I could have covered the treble when Liverpool netted early against Man City but expected a goal from Pep Guardiola's men but it never came.

Well done to Greg Browning and Jordan with their winners and Desmond's both to score double landed again thanks to Morton.

We have two matches today in the A-League, and given it’s a public holiday today, please bear in mind that there are early kickoffs.

    Wellington Phoenix v Adelaide United:
Wellington Phoenix are no powerhouse in this league, although one thing that has been consistent over the years in the A-League, is that they seem to make the Westpac Stadium a fortress. They rarely lose here, and whilst their dominance here in previous seasons has faded a bit, they draw massively on the home support (whereas away, they are usually fairly craptastic).

Enter Adelaide United who are downright terrible. This is the team who were champions last season, and just can’t seem to do a thing right this season. Coach Amor seems to have no clue how to fix things, and the players just aren’t looking like they really care. Adelaide are at the bottom of the league, and look unlikely for that to change.

I can’t back the result here, as I just don’t trust Phoenix to get a win. They really should… but yeah nah. However Krishna always looks a threat, especially at the Westpac, and I like the generous odds on offer for him to score anytime.

Western Sydney Wanderers v Perth Glory:
Now this should be an entertaining and open game! Both sides have not been getting the results go their way, which really comes down to their inability to defend. Wanderers haven’t kept a clean sheet all season, and Perth isn’t much better, having conceded 12 goals in their last 5 games… Scoring goals is not a problem for either side however, with goals coming from all over both squads. Picking a goalscorer is a bit harder though, as Santalab is the only consistent scorer for Wanderers… but he’s out today for being a naughty boy last game. And for Perth… well I do fancy Keogh to score, possibly more than I should, as he hasn’t had much joy in the last 3 games.

    Roy Krishna – ATGS… 2.60 (3pt)
    Western Sydney Wanderers v Perth Glory – over 3 goals…1.85 (2pt)
    Andy Keogh – ATGS… 2.62 (2pt)

Hows the above work then ?What stakes are you putting on gregs and mr fs bets and those of your own? Plus are you including all your rolling challenges in these totals? Thanks l

€40 on gregs unless he states low stakes then its €20 but i dont do the goals in first 10,20,30 mins and i do mrf stated stakes. and every bet i post here and if i do any bets from anyone on the site (i will reply on it if i do) will be included in my figures.

Flagged this up earlier in the week with reasoning, and it’s still Evens. A FG fan has told me that his side doesn’t concede too many at home but look at the last 5 games, in which they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet. OK Torquay haven’t potted in their last two aways but they put 4 past FG on Boxing Day in the opposite fixture.

Forest Green v Torquay (3pm) BTTS YES

No way of mitigating today’s results – pants! Though we weren’t far away with the teams to score treble, it was an unfortunate way to end the year. Anyway, onwards. New Year and all that so I’m getting these up now as who knows what state I’ll be in come tomorrow. ;)

There’s one fancy tomorrow that stands out the most and that’s a Chester side at home to Solihull. When the two sides met on Boxing Day, Solihull ran out 3-2 winners in an exciting game. Though victorious, the scoreline is indicative of Solihull’s defensive struggles. Just recently they were involved in a 4-4 thriller at Dagenham. With 21 goals conceded from their 13 away games, they might succumb to a decent Chester side this time round.

Chester are a completely different side at home. 8 of their 10 wins and 26 of their 39 points come from home fixtures and in those 13 home games, they average more than two goals scored each time. I like their chances of notching two tomorrow as they look to avenge the Boxing Day defeat.

Elsewhere, we’re looking at small stakes. FCUM and Chelmsford should win and do so convincingly in their games, so I fancy having them involved if Chester do the business. In the National League North, the form is little harder to read this week with the reverse fixtures. I do, however, fancy BTTS equally in 3 of the games. With none of them particularly standing out over any others, there’s no harm in rolling them up in a treble in that case.

  10. HullShaker 7 years ago

    Happy New Year!

Mr F, Scott, Admin and all the site regulars (and irregulars) – hope 2017 is a cracker for you all ??.

Away out for a few in a bit (neighbours doing champagne, bacon butties and fireworks at 1.00am ?) so will put tomorrow’s selections up before everything gets a bit messy and I advise a huge misguided stake on some “nashionall laeug gamesh”

    ****************************

I’m focusing my thoughts on the NLN where we see a full card including Curzon Ashton’s game on Monday and first stop is The Shay – I once went there many moons ago to watch Bury and it really was a sh*t-hole, made worse by the addition of a huge wasp nest in the away end terracing ?.

    HALIFAX TOWN VS. DARLINGTON 1883:

No surprise I’m backing this one and I stated at the start of the campaign that Darlo’s games would be worth following for goals…they’ve certainly not let me down!

Initially, team goals were the way to go but that has given way to BTTS or general match goals of late and the reverse fixture last week didn’t buck that trend with a 3-2 scoreline!

Darlo’s last 5 games have seen: 5-3-5-4-4 match goals and although – understandably – prices are much tighter than earlier in the season, there is potentially still great value to be had for a team that scores (and now concedes) with such regularity.

    3 selections to consider here:

    BTTS…8/15
    ?????

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…4/5
    ????

    BTTS BOTH HALVES…9/1
    ?

    ****************************

    CHORLEY VS. FYLDE:

Chorley managed to do the dirty on Fylde with a 0-2 win at their place last week and many, myself included, didn’t see it coming.

In only 4 of their last 27 have they failed to score – Flyde are a great side within their own division and they won’t stay down for long!

Though Chorley themselves are no mugs, their win away to high-flying Fylde has led the bookies to put out some hefty prices and I’m confident they will right a few wrongs from that last game.

    2 selections here:

    FLYDE OVER 1.5 TGS…10/11
    ???

    BTTS 1ST HALF…3/1
    ?

    ****************************

    Team Goal Double:

    AFC FYLDE OVER 1.5 TGS
    DARLINGTON OVER 1.5 TGS

    Double pays 2.8/1
    ??

    ****************************

Lastly, I’m going to welcome in 2017 with a NLN Longshot – all 15 games to see OVER 2.5 MGS…pays just over 191/1 ?

    Good luck!

  11. HullShaker 7 years ago

    *11 games sorry (hic!)

  12. kierons 7 years ago

I stayed away from the Wellington game as silva scored two thirds of his goal talky in one game and Roy krishna would struggle to get into my Saturday league team. However the Perth vs western Sydney should be a goal fest.

Like obi I’ll be backing keogh to score even though when he plays with tagget he can sometimes get lost in the game.
Another name to look out for is diego castro he came back with a bang last time and I think he will bag again today.

    Over 3.5 mgs 11/10
Over 1.5 first half goals 6/5
    Over 2.5 bits 4/5
    Atgs
    Castro 3/1
    Keogh 13/8
    Martinez 2/1

  16. warktheline 7 years ago

    Small stakes as follows:
    CHESTER 4/5.
    TRANMERE DNB 8/11.
    BROMLEY 7/2.
    SOUTHPORT 13/8
    SOUTHPORT goal before 5/6
ALLEN (SOUTHPORT) to score anytime 2/1.

    Summary:
CHESTER have been very consistent on home turf! BROMLEY form currently good, and they’ve already won on a plastic pitch this season! With Mellon in charge, TRANMERE are always worth a punt ! It could go goal crazy at SOUTHPORT, they really go for it on home soil, and although WREXHAM have become reasonably tight on their travels, they normally concede! ALLEN likes the odd goal from midfield, and is good from the spot!
As I say small stakes, enjoy your day ?

Class from the rest here today. Hull nailed it and well done to those posting BTTS at Forest Green. 5-5 with a few minutes to spare, good grief.

As for myself.. not the best way to start the year. Chester absolutely humbled at home to Solihull. You could’ve given me all of 2016 to guess and I wouldn’t have seen that coming. A late Tamworth goal might save my day with the BTTS treble but I can’t see it coming. But again, well done all, plenty of winners today. :)

5-5 today and 4-3 on boxing day, proper old school christmas scorelines for my boys!! apparently their 5th was well dodgy too!! still i’d have taken four points off one of the top teams if you’d offered me it beforehand!
managed to pick all the unders out today, its a rare skill, trouble is i backed overs! grrr ebbsfleet, nuneaton, fc united!!

yeah i no, but sometimes when his bets are winning but i think are starting to look dodgy i dont cover instead i will cash out this works for me sometimes other times i will have missed out on a few euro extra, so sometimes you will see i my stats show better profit sometimes less.

Great spot – one day into 2017 and your first dig at me is up already.
We all know how Kelly operates so they won’t be identical. They are her profits and her stakes using my tips.
Hope you can chill out in 2017.

    • shortee 7 years ago

exactly mr f, TOO MANY PEOPLE QUESTIONING OTHERS

remember to look after your own stakes and never worry about questioning others, people on her are all trying to help not be little each other or play games

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Totally agree but we’ll always get one or two who visit for the wrong reasons.

    Happy new year gents!

I finished the year with a couple of sore losers, which has opened my eyes that i must keep a track of my betting totals.

Majority of my bets come from football/nba, i am a horse racing fan as well so bet occasionally too. As you all know time means you can’t post everything but i will be strict with myself and record all bets.

Started 2017 with a decent winner

    Spurs O1.5
    Arsenal O1.5

    1.22/1 – 2pts

Could be worse Crane, if she’d really taken it to heart, could’ve been a case of ‘your dogs in the dinner’ ?

    • elvis parsley 7 years ago

For anyone who bet on Bangor today I apologise for my teams inept performance.
Cost me 10 to get in, 15 train, 10 for a taxi and was treated to 90 minutes of dross.

      And SHAKER.
you were right, nardiello is finished, runs like someone with 2 groin strains and a broken leg.
      Booooooooooo

    • elvis parsley 7 years ago

Oh, and we have signed ex Motherwell striker Michael higdon, who makes nardiello look like usain bolt.
For someone who played Scottish prem, he has a 1st touch like a giraffe trying to trap a rugby ball.
      Donkey !!!!!!!

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Ahahaha Parsley – if its any consolation, you just made me snort my cuppa back through my nose and all over the telly…poor Mrs Hull’s not impressed ?

Not heard the girraffe/rugby ball before ?

    Thanks @wasclueless
Good quick win and more than just me on it which is good to see.
    One more for later.
Gary Anderson vs Peter Wright. Under 25.5 180s in Match. 10/11. Ladbrokes. Winning from above going onto this.

**WON** was 25 180s in match exactly turned a stake into 3xs (nearly) what is was, happy man today
    2 out of 2

was going to do van gerwin match but cant see any REAL VALUE in it as mr f would say, I’m a sucker for a value bet or priceand in saying that I have to say just incase anyone thinking of championship tomorrow especially my preview mate @nathanufton READING @ 23/10 AND DERBY @ 15/8 ARE MASSIVE

might bang the winning on a plus 1 double of both

  65. crowman 7 years ago

    My thoughts for monday,

    Doncaster
    Plymouth
    Exeter
    Colchester
    Cambridge
    Carlisle

    Each around evs.

Who’s gonna be my let down?

    • shortee 7 years ago

Plymouth and Carlisle look good, my opinion is stay away from Doncaster, have let me down many times before as the ONLY team on a Ladbrokes coupon 5 team acca and have had many free bets as a result of them but I would rather a winner than a free bet

  66. HullShaker 7 years ago

    Evening gents,

Tomorrow sees a pretty impressive card to choose from and unsurprisingly, I’m looking at both the National League North and Northern Premier divisions to provide the entertainment…

    CORBY TOWN VS. SPENNYMOOR TOWN:

Corby Town’s season isn’t going very well. Fact.

They have won a staggering 2 whole games all season and are the NP’s whipping boys. The Corby defence is modelled around a colander and has succesfully managed to ship the following goals in their recent 9 match ‘run-in’: 0-4-3-4-5-2-3-1-2.

With a goal difference of -28, Corby may well be (and I use the correct technical term here) ‘shitting themselves’ at the prospect of tomorrow’s visitors -Spennymoor.

4th placed Spenny’s own g/d is the best in the division by some distance at +22 and they’ll be looking to close the gap on those teams above them with what is potentially the ‘easiest’ away day in the Northern Prem.

After an ‘iffy’ November, Spenny had a very solid December playing 5 games in total and winning 4 along with 1 draw – the previous H2H finished 1-0 to the NE side back in August and no doubt, they’ll hope to beat that scoreline here.

In fact, if you discount the Boxing Day 0-0, the two selections would have been winners in each of the last 4 Corby games!

    SPENNYMOOR -1 H/CAP…7/5

    OVER 3.5 MGS…6/4

    Best of luck ?

  67. HullShaker 7 years ago

Not an avid follower of Antiguan football it has to be said but judging by the stats here, it could pay to have a low-stake flutter…

    SAP VS. LIBERTA (23.00 KO):

Liberta are rock bottom and have taken a fair bit of heat – no time or inclination to put up stats/reasoning but H2Hs /recent form point to a few goals!

    OVER 1.5 FHGS…11/10

    OVER 3.5 MGS…EVENS

    Low stakes ?

    • shortee 7 years ago

curse you hull stuck a fair few points on under 3,5 at 4/6 there lol hope its 2-0 half time for me and you both to at least get a winner

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Just the 1 fhg so looking better for thee sir ?

  68. shortee 7 years ago

hope so hull, be a nice start to 2017 for me

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

There you go Shortee…low stake loser pour moi…winner for you pal ?
