MY first five to follow on anytime scores produced two winners out of five – but there was a 100 per cent vote for me to have another go.

Out of 10 players I suggested on Wednesday, five scored, so that’s a decent enough omen. They were Didier Drogba, Emmanuel Adebayor, Olivier Giroud, Billy McKay and Steven Thompson.

So this weekend I start with Thompson who has been in a rich vein of form. The experienced St Mirren striker sealed the win against Celtic in the League Cup semi-final on Sunday and of course hit the winner against Inverness on Wednesday night.

Former Burnley star Tommo has netted six in seven games and there is every chance he’ll be on target in the William Hill Scottish Cup clash at home to St Johnstone. The Paisley men have boosted their attacking options with the capture of Esmail Goncalves who has netted in his first two starts.

Next look at Blackburn’s Jordan Rhodes who shows no signs of losing the goal trail. The Scotland striker has also netted in six of his last seven games and goes looking for his 100th league goal of a short career at home to Bristol City.

Rovers romped to victory last weekend and are in decent form and with Rhodes also on penalties there is every chance of him reaching the century mark before heading off on Scotland duty.

My third choice is QPR new bos Loic Remy. The Frenchman netted on his debut at West Ham and looked the part against champions Man City in midweek even if he didn’t find the target.

The point was a welcome one for Harry Redknapp’s men but he knows they need to start picking up wins and a home meeting with Norwich gives them as good a chance as any. And if they are to survive the goals will need to come from Remy while fellow bew boy Chris Samba shores up the defence.

Now for a player who owes us a goal. I tipped up Matej Vydra to net for Watford at Bristol City in midweek but Gianfranco Zola rested his star striker and paid the penalty with a 2-0 defeat.

The one consolation is that the Czech striker, on loan from Udinse, will be fresh and raring to go for the visit of Bolton. Watford have netted seven times in their last two home games and Vydra should be on target here after netting doubles in last three outings and 18 this season.

Finally, look at Southampton’s Rickie Lambert at Wigan. Lambert went close on a couple of occasions at Man United on Wednesday as Saints’ second-half display was hailed by Alex Ferguson as the best he’s seen at Old Trafford. Praise indeed.

Lambert doesn’t go many games without scoring so will fancy his chances at a Wigan side who have conceded in their last six matches.

If you don’t fancy some of the ones I’ve picked others to consider are Reading supersub Adam Le Fondre – although he rarely starts – Man United’s Robin van Persie or Demba Ba who returns to Tyneside with Chelsea.

And remember to post as a comment the market you want me to cover next weekend whether it’s scorers, correct scores, handicaps, corners or even race to two goals.

John, I thought about putting him in but not all bookies take League One scorer bets and at the end of the day he’s your find so I’d have felt guilty.

  14. John 5 years ago

John, pass marks I suppose. I should have gone with St Mirren’s Goncalves.

  15. Arnie 5 years ago

I vote this too. I permed 3 of 4 since i knew Remy was injured. I almost put Rooney but didn’t want to jinx your selections

This anytime goal scorers is very good Mr F.

Its something different and I vote we keep it

Arnie, you were unlucky with that one and it was toss-up for me between Thompson and Goncalves. The Portuguese new boy has scored four in his first three game so is one to watch.

  16. Tommo 5 years ago

I vote for this too, hopefully be a regular bet you tip

  17. John 5 years ago

I was going to put him in too but i couldn’t find a price for him on paddy power or boylesports list of scorers, i don’t know why
