JOHNB was left cursing the jockey on his NB Haines yesterday whose poor ride cost him a winner with the horse ending up second.
Our man, now 12.4pts up for February, has a double-stake tip as his sole Tuesday pick.
Johnb’s Tuesday Tip
SIR PITT (NAP/NB)
Yes, it’s 1954 days since this horse last run on the flat when 2nd in a 1m 7f race on heavy ground. He has run twice at Southwell when trained by John Gosden and owned by the Oppenheimer’s and won both of those races very easily and really took well to the Southwell surface. His two wins came ove 11f and 12f and was rated 68 and 70.
For most of his time over the last few years he has been hurdling and the form is pretty decent, Sir Pitt ran 5th of 23 at the Cheltenham Festival in the 2011 Triumph hurdle which was won by Zarkandar, Sir Pitt was beaten 7 lengths.
He beat a lot of good horses that day, most notably Smad Place, his handicap mark went up substantially after that run which hindered his progress. His latest run was in November but that was after 574 days off and he ran well enough till being pulled up two out “he was still with the leaders till three out” but will have come on massively for that run.
So although it’s been 1954 days since his last flat race it’s only 90 days since his last hurdles race. Oisin Murphy is a reasonable booking but does have a good record for David Bridgwater with 2 wins and 3 places from 8 rides.
