snookerballs

SHAUN MURPHY is a  man on a hot streak and victory in the German Masters snooker final today would give the English ace his fifth trophy in 12 months.

Murphy – who bagged Masters glory last month to complete the career triple crown of major titles – saw off Liang Wenbo in the Berlin semis yesterday but despite his recent success goes into the Final as slight underdog at evens with Betfred because of who stands in his way.

His opponent is reigning world champion Mark Selby, who thrashed Stephen Maguire 6-2 yesterday and is 4-5 at Betfair to gain revenge on the man who edged him out 6-5 in the first round of the Masters.

Sunday also sees the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open and Malaysian Open golf as well as the likes of club rugby union, rugby league and NBA action.

Good luck if you're having a punt and post your sporting tips and chat here.

    ***POSTED YESTERDAY***

    ***WON*** – MAIN DOUBLE; Bucks ML, Mavs/Blazers OVER 199.5 @ $1.80 (6 points)

    ***LOST*** a– 8 FOLD: Virginia +7.5 (NCAA), Pelicans +12.5, Wizards +5.5, Warriors -4.5, 76′ers +18.5, Mavs +8.5, Bucks +5.5, Kings +15.5 @ $2.70 (4 points)

***The Double won easy in the end but did need overtime in Dallas. All legs in the 8 fold actually sailed in, except the Pelicans who were annihilated by Bulls. Annoying thing is, I tipped the Bulls earlier on but changed my mind after too much procrastination.

So in the end, was a break evens day with nothing lost.

You got any multi sports on this morning Attilla?

Also thanks to Jordan for the double tip :)

    Dodin d Schiavonne @5/6
This one will be on the youngsters racket. A relatively clean performsnce and sh will win this. She has too much pace for Schiavonne on this surface. Shes too inexperienced for this to be guaranteed, but she is more than capable.

    Mathieu d Melzer @ 11/10
Mathieu is playinf well right now and mustbbe confident. Melzers not impressed me unduly in recent times. At odds against it has to be the Frenchman

    Bacsinszky
    Kokkinakis
    Sharapova
    Kuznetsova

    Pays 2/1
    Good luck

Hi Lloyd, here’s a nice 4-FOLD starting soon:

    – Reaktor Nizhnekamsk WIN (ice hockey)
    – Woori Bank Hansae Ladies WIN (basketball
    – Halep WIN (tennis)
    – Sharapova WIN (tennis)

    Pays odds of $2.50

    • Attila 9 years ago

For a bit safer take Halep +4.5 Handicap…nrings odds down to $2.20

somehow bucks managed a grand total of 2 points in the last 6 minutes of the 4th quarter…

    great effort lads….

  6. Attila 9 years ago

Hey Ad, I’m on your 4 fold mate, looks sound. Cheers! (I don’t like taking the high odds singles cos can’t do the inplay covering, etc).

  7. Calacoe 9 years ago

Attila any chance u can post what league the games are in or what event, spent 5 mins looking for your picks and still can’t find some of them. Many thanks

Kutnetzova to beat u Radwańska 2:0 at 1.9, great price

  9. kevka 9 years ago

when I saw huggy tipping bucks-7 I started to sweat, but I was lucky and both doubles landed, the safe one with celtics+12.5 and the risky with +7
but if it wasnt for the OT on the PTB/Mavs neither would have won,it was more of a low scoring match than I thought
let’s hope that the luck continues tonight

  10. Lloyd 9 years ago

    Cheers Attilla!

  11. Attila 9 years ago

Halep never got going…let down my 4 fold. Sorry for any1 who did it. Other 3 legs are sound…should have just done the treble, I wasn’t sure of Halep…

    • Ad 9 years ago

hard luck mate. Muguruza is always going to be dangerous on an indoor hard court against someone like Halep who she can outhit if she plays a great game.

  12. Ad 9 years ago

Mathieu wins 2-0. A nice 11/10 winner to start the day.

Hopefully Dodin can turn things round.

  13. Attila 9 years ago

@Mac – great spot! U.Radwanska is rubbish compared to her sister. I’ll have some of that, near Evens is great value.

  14. Ad 9 years ago

    Another tip for Monday:

    Pospisil d Kohlschreiber @ 17/10

Kohli showed in his two matches this week why he isn’t great indoors. He is too passive and vulnerable to aggressive play, especially from someone with the weight of serve and shot that Pospisil has. Pospisil already has 3 good wins to 0 defeats indoors this year and really should make it 4 if he puts in a decent performance. Great price in my opinion

  15. Attila 9 years ago

    Here’s one I’m confident of:

    – HK Riga ML (Russian ice hockey)
    – HK Lipetsk ML (Russian ice hockey)
    – Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod ML (Russian ice hockey)
    – FC Augsburg And Draw (footy)

    Pays odds of $1.88

I added in Mr F’s SS at DBL chance to get odds up near Evens.

  16. Ad 9 years ago

    Another Monday Tennis Tip:

Bellucci to beat Klizan @ 4/5. Only finding odds with Betfair exchange at the moment with this one, but I’d be surprised if there are better odds available when they’re out across the board. Bellucci was good in Sau Paulo, just falling short in the semi finals to Estrella Burgos in the end. Klizan was pretty poor, getting taken down 6-2, 6-2 by the same man. This match takes place in Brazil, where Bellucci has very fond recent memories having secured his country a memorable Davis cup there last year. He also beat Klizan there last year. I fancy him to add to his recent success on home soil. Klizan isn’t a man I’m impressed by lately.

  17. Attila 9 years ago

Hey AD, Kuznetsova game cancelled. Anyone know why? Shame, it was a banker both to win and finish 2-0.

    • Ad 9 years ago

I’m not sure it was a 2-0 banker Atilla, those are hard to come by in women’s tennis. But I certainly think she would have won.

  18. Ad 9 years ago

In play- Ymer to beat De Bakker @ evens.

  19. Ad 9 years ago

Gajdasova is a set down to Petkovic and worth risking for the comeback at smallish stakes. She beat Petkovic 2-0 in Sydney last month and has the big shots to hurt her on this fast surface if she gets into her groove and can keep the points short. Home advantage reversed here, but she has a shot if she starts playing a little better. She lost her first set to kerber yesterday before coming back and winning 2-1, so she knows she can do it.

    5/1.

  20. GruntBunny 9 years ago

Anyone else fancy Magic to keep the Bulls to within 9.5 points (odds of 1/2) tonight? I know the Bulls had a good win last night, but hard to do it twice in a row on the road, isn’t it?

    Tonight:
    Estrella Burgos v Lopez

    Over 22.5 games & 1/1

Hard to call this one with confidence, with both men in good form this week. I’m tempted by Estrella @ 2/1, but the pressure of being in contention to win his first ever ATP title might take its toll on him. I can see three sets, or at least 2 long and tight ones, and theres a good chance it will go the distance.

    Bucks ML
    Mavericks/Blazers over 196.5

Seen somebody else moaning about us talking on the thread? I’ll talk as much as I want to on this thread I’m afraid. It’s not my thread but I think I give enough to the US sports to be able to confer with any other regulars. United scored (just) so it’s fingers crossed for Ghana. Yet to look at the games but will hopefully have something up after.

    • huggybear 9 years ago

in that case , catch up , bb be there tomorrow , those 3rd and 4th spots are up for grabs , us minus sanchez = ordinary…

    • Ad 9 years ago

I really don’t think not having Sanchez had anything to do with it mate. Ramsey and Cazorla were b*ll”cks. That’s why we lost. If they had played well i have no doubt we would have won. If they defended better we wouldn’t have conceded, and if they’d not given the ball away so cheaply and done a lot more with it we would have scored more. Sure, if they, and we as a team generally, played like they did but we had Sanchez on the pitch we might have still got something from the game, but unlike Sp*rs who would incapable of scoring without Kane, we can do it without Alexis. Gotta play far better than that though.

    • huggybear 9 years ago

I do take what your saying . Its a bit tongue in cheek , just saying how a good a player sanchez is at the mo.

did think kocienly ( spelling naff ) looked nervous all match. leciester home tues should win that ?

  35. Jordan 9 years ago

You could cover Pacers HT as that’s the first option you need to win but even if the Hornets are winning at HT you’d have to cover again on FT.

  45. Jaseos 9 years ago

Ad – Let me start by saying your tennis picks are top draw mate, you really know your stuff and appreciate the posts…
BUT… I have rarely read someone’s opinion on a football match and disagreed with every part of it – Those “Gooner glasses” have to come off my friend! Spurs outplayed, out-fought and downright embarrassed your lot yesterday. Sanchez WAS as huge miss for you and is as important as Kane is to us at the moment.

Your natural Spurs hatred aside, it is plain to see that nearly all 11 of our guys played better than yours (not just the 2 midfielders who were owned by a couple of Spurs rookies) and we wanted it more!

Having said all that, I still think you will be above us again this year… next year though????

    • Ad 9 years ago

Jaseos- i dont not have gooners glasses on mate! I never do. I don’t disaree with a single word you said about yesterdays match. You were easily the better team and deserved the win. All I said was the reason we lost isnt because we were missing Sanchez. It’s because we didnt play well, Cazorla and Ramsey especially. And your lot did. Partly because we let you, in large part due to the performances of those two players, because they are so pivotal to the game plan we were trying to execute. It was the same gameplan that worked so well at City, but it relies on us keeping hold of the ball in tight areas and moving it quickly and accurately when we have it. That broke down because they simultaneously had shockers, and that, for me at least, and from an Arsenal point of view, was the biggest factor in our defeat. I’m taking the fact Spurs played well as a given, it’s not in my nature to discuss such things directly!

    • Jaseos 9 years ago

Ad – Haha, that’s cool mate, completely understand!!! I watched the Man City game and feared that Arsenal had stepped it up a gear and left us behind, again. The tactics and hunger were spot on that day, added to the lightning counters and it was a perfect performance.

However, yesterday was a polar opposite of everything that was good and what worked… that’s the beauty and agony of football eh!

    • Ad 9 years ago

Indeed! First Chelski, now the Gunners, enjoying some heady days under that hamster cheeked Pochettino! Been slightly cheered up having just seen a picture of little ‘arry Kane in an Arsenal shirt celebrating the unbeaten season back in the day. I guess every rotten barrel’s got a good apple in it eh!

    • Jaseos 9 years ago

Ouch! I saw that earlier. He had his reasons (excuses) ready but I guess we all did some stupid stuff when we were kids. I forgive him… just. It’s like knowing your partner’s *** history… you pretend it doesn’t bother you but it grates at the back of your mind.

  53. Attila 9 years ago

    NBA GAME PLAN:

    SS: Rockets -4.5 @ $1.92 (5 points)

    DOUBLE: Timberwolves +8.0, Pacers -2.0 @ $3.69 (2.5 points)

    5 FOLD: Suns ML, Bulls/Magic O189.5, Hawks/Grizzlies U206.5, Spurs/Raptors O192.5, Pacers/Hornets U192.5 @ $3.83 (1.5 points)

GL today guys! Pretty confident of today’s card.

  54. Attila 9 years ago

Also – best Over/Under at 10/11 is Bulls/Magic O198.5. Main reason, the ‘Over’ is 7-0 in Orlando’s past 7 games against teams from the east…
I might have a little dabble on this as well .

    – Bulls/Magic O198.5 @ $1.92 (1 point)

Brings my game plan up to 10 points play total.

  55. Ad 9 years ago

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say Estrella Burgos, who just captured his first ever ATP title at 34 years of age, will not be able to back that up in his next match.

He is scheduled to be playing fellow Dominican Jose Hernandez on home dirt tomorrow (though I assume it will be moved to Tuesday as he was competing in a final today) and it could be a huge comedown for him. Not only is he bound to be out partying tonight, but trying to stay focused and motivated against a nobody in the first round of a small tournament after the biggest week of his career is going to be hard work. I know little about Hernandez, but his record on clay suggests he is no mug, and he is likely to be the more fired up and focused of the two. I remember well Jo Wilfried Tsonga’s first round thumping at the hands of Youzhny last year a couple of days after one of the biggest weeks of his career when he beat Murray, Dimitrov, Djokovic and Federer on the way to the Toronto title. Hangovers happen, even at the top, and @ 10/3 it’s worth risking it to happen here.

  75. huggybear 9 years ago

Attila did u read the link posted earlier last week. Stats are there its just using em.

I feel your anger though . 1 point losses hurt.

  76. Jordan 9 years ago

Luck? C’mon Attila. I’ve lost two bets this week. Is that luck? 1 point losses hurt but no need to try and make others look bad by calling it luck mate.

  77. Attila 9 years ago

Haha, don’t take it personally bud…am just pi$$ed off right now that I can’t pick NBA anymore. You have to admit tho, all gambling has a big element of luck in it ;-)

  78. Jordan 9 years ago

All gambling has an element of luck, but you have to pick the winners too, which I’ve been doing consistently. Too many selections mate if you want my honest opinion. One bet up to three selections (less the better obviously) around EVS, if it loses, go again the next day. There was that guy telling huggy it was easy to pick one team on the spread every night, where is that loser now? Nowhere.

  79. Attila 9 years ago

Just seems the more research I do, the worse my results. Might stick to other sports for a while and just follow yours for the next while Jordan.

  80. Jordan 9 years ago

Makes me laugh cos people follow one night then they see a loser and stop. I assured everyone they’d get their stake back when OKC and the Grizzlies lost the other night. 4/5 and 11/10 the next two days, but not a peep from anyone. Luck comes from the teams playing, intelligence comes from the markets selected. Home form the first rule, then rest, home form vs away form, h2h (mostly this season) then players in/out. Doesn’t always work but I pick seem to pick em more often than not.

  81. huggybear 9 years ago

Soon as the house gets sorted I’m going big on research and gonna do my best to get a ss up and running ..
attila luck yes but mixed with knowledge . I’ll bet u that you got the ability to post 1 a night

  82. Jordan 9 years ago

Huggy that’s it mate. Attila we see you say almost everyday that you’re gonna follow or do one bet with smaller markets (like the one you did last night basically mirrored mine) then tonight you go and do 5 bets. Doesn’t make sense sometimes mate. I don’t want you to follow me because you think it’s luck haha

  83. Jordan 9 years ago

I’ve seen huggy say enough times that I know how to pick em which I’m quite proud of to be honest considering his knowledge, and considering I never tipped NBA until October/November. I’ve just go the eye I suppose, certainly isn’t luck.

  84. V P 9 years ago

Atilla go more with your instinct with smaller stakes for a bit and see where it takes you. I like looking at your NBA selections.

  85. Jordan 9 years ago

Trouble is we’ll be effed when May comes. No NBA, no NFL :(

  89. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

Has huggy says home advantage is key especially with 2 average teams like Suns and kings..Kings +8 was a steal and in the home team without the+8.

    Cheers tickety mate!

Lee I know mate I’ve seen enough highlights on AP to know what a back he is! Will be good to see him in action if he’s eligible though. Wish I was watching in the Randy Moss days too! DeMarco would be a more than decent replacement mate haha, who knows what will happen. I’ve seen the Packers have got rid of another Linebacker so he’ll be in a Vikings jersey soon :D
