Feb 6: Scottish Junior Football Tips

EVERY Saturday William Hill‘s Owen Scott and McBookie‘s Paul Petrie do battle in the junior football challenge and their back after a festive break.
The dynamic duo will be putting up trebles every weekend and Owen leads the way with winnings of £206.48 to Paul’s £14.44.
Last week Owen’s treble became a winning single on Linlithgow at 10-11 so he extends his advantage slightly.
For those who don’t know anything about junior football the level of the top clubs is equivalent or in some cases better than Scottish League 2 outfits and we can gauge that easier now with the champions of the three regions – North, East and West – qualifying to play in the William Hill Scottish Cup along with the Junior Cup winners.
The term “junior” has nothing to do with players’ ages and it often confuses people outside Scotland. Some of the top clubs such as Auchinleck, Hurlford, Irvine Meadow and Linlithgow pay bigger wages than most League 1 and League 2 teams and therefore attract players who could be plying their trade at a higher level.
And Linlithgow have proved their ability this season with a run to the last 16 of the senior Scottish Cup and they’ll be tested to the limit on Saturday by League Cup finalists Ross County.
McBookie list all games online and take bets on every junior match while William Hill only take bets in shops. Here are this weekend’s tips from Owen and Paul.

Owen writes: One game survived last week and they won so it’s another little boost to keep me in profit for the year.

Like every other Saturday just now it seems to be a fight against the weather but hopefully we’ll see a few more games played this weekend.

I’m starting my treble with Kilbirnie who are 4-5 at home to Troon. Troon had a great result last week at home to Hurlford but Ladeside are in good form and I think they will take all three points.

Next I’m on Blantyre Vics at 1-2 at home to Bellshill.  Blantyre are under new management and I feel they will get all three points in this match which will put Bellshill under greater pressure to stay up.

Rob Roy (8-13) at home to Shettleston will complete my treble. Rob Roy have dropped some points lately but they can get back on track with a win in this one.

Paul writes: First up in the West Region I am backing Kilbirnie to beat Troon at 5-6. There seems a lot of confidence among Kilbirnie fans that they can make a serious title bid and there is no doubting they have made some impressive signings in recent weeks. Troon had a great result last week against Hurlford but lack consistency so I am going for the home side.

In the East Region I am backing Kirriemuir to beat Kinnoull at 8-15. Kinnoull have been disappointing this season after starting the campaign as one of the favourites but are always capable of putting in a good performance so it won’t be easy for Kirrie. However, Kirrie are very much still in the promotion hunt and these are the games they need to win if they are going to move up the league.

Finally, in the North Region I am taking Stonehaven to beat Colony Park at 8-13. Colony Park are red-hot favourites to win the First Division East and will be full of confidence. However, Stonehaven are also flying high in the Super League and this should have enough class to beat their lower-league opponents.
