Feb 27: Jordan’s Sports Tips & Chat

Jordans_SportsTips

SCOTLAND’S Six Nations game today has been billed as the biggest in their history as they travel to Rome to tackle Italy.

The Scots are on their worst run the tournament for more than 60 years – nine defeats in a row – and the Azzurri clash is their best chance of finally chalking up a victory.

Despite their awful form Vern Cotter’s men are 4-9 at Skybet and bet365, which looks far too skinny, while the hosts are 13-5 at bet365.

The Azzurri won 22-19 at Murrayfield last season and in 2014 it was a last-gasp 21-20 win for the Scots in Rome. So another tight affair looks likely and a value bet could be Italy +7 points at evens with Ladbrokes.

In the day’s later match England look to continue their perfect start under new boss Eddie Jones and are 3-10 (William Hill) at home to back-to-back champs Ireland (7-2, Paddy Power).

At the Dubai Tennis Championship, Stan Wawrinka takes on underdog Marcos Baghdatis in the final and at the women’s Qatar Open it’s Jelena Ostapenko v Carla Suarez Navarro.

There’s loads more highlights on a packed Saturday of sport – including a fight night spectacular between Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg – so let’s hear all your tips and chat and good luck with your bets.

Also might sack off these doubles.. more often than not they’d win as a single anyway.

Dallas last night. Ok it was close, but wins a win.

    Besiktas @ Istanbul (13:00GMT)

Will keep it short…..Besiktas season hangs in the balance and will be desperate for a win against a poor Istanbul side. Besiktas need a win to stand any hope of reaching the playoffs where anything less would be a huge failure for a club of this stature.

Decent start to the Super Rugby season yesterday. Main bet of Cheetahs +7.5 won and the treble came in too (Lions -5.5, Cheetahs +15.5 and Wales ML 1.55/1).

Today my beloved Sharks get their season underway. I do expect us to hammer the Kings but being the 1st game of the season there may be some rust. So I’m gonna double up the Sharks -6.5 with the Stormers to beat the Bulls as my NAP (0.96/1 bet365). Btw Keep an eye out on the du Preez twins for the Sharks-future stars in the making!

I’ll also have a small double on the ‘more tries or penalties’ market in the 6 Nations games. I’ll be on ‘more converted penalties’ in both games (Poms vs Ireland and Italy vs Scots) for odds just below evens for my small bet of the day. Lots of Rugga today. Enjoy!

    • Profile photo of gunner
      gunner 9 months ago

NAP: Sharks -6.5 and Stormers ML Winner. My boys were mighty impressive in destroying the Kings and the Stormers easily took care of business against the Bulls. My small double is still alive with the 1st part in already (Italy vs Scotland) and already 3 penalties and no tries in the Eng/Ireland so its looking good. Solid weekend either way!

    Boxing

Super Bantamweight IBF & WBA Super unification

Scott Quigg vs Carl Frampton – Scott Quigg win 11/8

Exact method of victory – Scott Quigg KO 7/1

Frampton went twelve rounds with Kiko Martinez and couldn’t get him out of there whilst Quigg destroyed him in two. I can see this developing into a war at some point with both throwing bombs but Quigg is generally the more ferocious of the two and throws huge clusters of shots with nasty body shots to the liver and kidney areas. If it does develop into said war then I cant see it going the distance and Frampton, who was floored twice by unfavoured Alejandro Gonzalez Jr recently, will surely get knocked out.

    WBO Super Lightweight championship

Terrence Crawford vs Henry Lundy – Terrance Crawford to win in rounds 1-3 8/1

The outcome is not up for debate, Crawford will win and could possibly do it within the first three rounds as many of his opponents have touched the canvas in that period. Lundy has been floored in round one twice and has been floored in various other rounds by opponents so its fair to say his chin isn’t the best. Crawford is an entirely different animal to anybody lundy will have faced before. He will counter and throw punches from all types of angles and I’d expect Lundy to have no solution to it until he is inevitably stopped or KO’d in the early period.

    Prices with Bet365

    Good luck all

    D’Angelo Russell (Lakers) Over 21.5 PR&A @ 5/6 @ Paddy Power – 1.2 points **WIN**

As I said the only thing that would scupper these is if the Lakers were blown away and low and behold, they lost every quarter. Swear this is one of the worst teams in history. Hurts to lose by 1 but only a small loss thanks to Russell.

    Well done to any winners.

You could well be right and I know it’s a risky bet but I think this kid could cause an upset! She has the power to overcome Navarro as she did at Wimbledon. Experience might well be her downfall but think there’s value to be found @ 9/4.

CSN has started this year playing more aggresively and shes doing it well, dismissed Bacsinsky, slapped Radwanksa who started of playing well but found herself being outclassed . CSN looks a different player with this mindset however to execute the gameplan is obviously more difficult. Ill get on her should she make a slow start and CSN odds are evens , the youngsters second serve is crap which will
            Hurt her ,

    Miami Heat @ Boston Celtics

Interesting match-up here, Heat have been playing well since the All Star break, winning 3 of 4. That loss was against the Warriors, a game which they led for long periods.

Tonight they face another tricky opposition as they travel to Boston, who are on a 9 game winning streak at home.

Win or Lose, the Celtics tend to start home games strong and have been up by half time in 19 of their 28 home games this season (68%), with a huge 12.2 point average lead in those 19.

I’ve taken a closer look at their 1st Half record.

Conference games they’ve gone 13-5 (72%), with an average 12.4 point lead.

And Conference games against teams with a 50% win record and higher (i.e. Play Off teams) Celtics have gone 6-3 (67%) with an average 9.5 point lead by half time.

I’ve also picked apart Heat’s away 1st Half Record, away Conference games 6-10 (37.5%), and 2-7 (22%) against Conference teams with at least a 50% win rate.

The market isn’t open on Bet365 yet, but William Hill have -2.5.

    Pick: Celtics 1st Half (-2.5) – 2.1 Points staked.

    Good luck.

    hey guys

@bullseye i would be very wary of taking those plays bud. low stakes advised!

boxing fans have been saying frampton has been very tight at the weight for a while now, i saw the weighin yesterday and it was the other way round!
frampton looked great and quigg looked extremely gaunt!

this has been billed as a 50/50 matchup.
i do not agree at all. there is a saying ‘you’re only as good as your last fight’ which is why the odds are close and people are picking quigg.
quigg destroyed kiko in a few rounds and frampton got dropped a couple of times in their last respected fights.
i feel people are reading into this a little too much.

kiko was/is EXTREMELY shop worn and had already been practically retired by frampton, quigg was just feeding on his leftover’s.
and frampton has a style which leaves him off balance at times, yes the 2nd KD was legit but he won 10/11 rounds of 12.

If we’re talking chins here, you should look back to quigg getting dropped agaisnt a journeyman a few years back.

quigg only has a chance of a KO here, absolutely no chance he will outbox carl.
i honestly think frampton will absolutely destroy scott. he will brutally KO him after outboxing him, scott will come in with his chin up with his wild looping hooks and get put to sleep.

As for crawford, while it is a TOTAL mismatch, crawford isnt known as a puncher mate, if he is stopping him it will be mid to late.

    • Profile photo of bullseye
      bullseye 9 months ago

@mulac I think everyone’s opinion on Frampton Quigg is subjective to some degree. Frampton is talking a good game saying he will outbox him and Quigg doesn’t have a boxing brain but I guess we will see. Kiko certainly wasn’t practically retired when he fought Quigg, he was still highly rated by the various governing bodies at the time and in actual fact has moved up to featherweight and is fighting for the WBA championsship tonight. Anyone is beatable in boxing regardless of what they have done or achieved previously but my gut is telling me Quigg will get rid of him in what could be a partisan crowd.

The Crawford bet I’m more confident on. I was going to take the victory between rounds 4-6 at 4’s but what swayed it for me was the quality of his opponent. I cant say I’ve seen much of Lundy as for the most part he’s been a domestic level boxer but according to boxrec he’s been dropped in the first round a number of times and at various other stages in fights. Crawford is the type of boxer who can throw a punch out of nowhere and if Lundy does get up wounded he will pounce to close it out. This was the case in that epic fight with Gamboa and Dierry Jean (whom he floored in round one in his last fight).

  21. Profile photo of captain
    captain 9 months ago

@mulac absolutely spot on regards to kiko Frampton should win. I’ll wait for an inplay price that i like 4 frampton. 2 short at the moment

    • Profile photo of mulac
      mulac 9 months ago

a good value bet would be leo santa cruz for a late stoppage agaisnt kiko

its the worst mismatch of the night after crawford.

kiko better HOPE he get’s stopped early for his health, but it will be a brutal beat down as leo does not carry one punch power, kiko will be retired from boxing in this fight,.

also huck v ola to go to the scorecards, both have iron chin’s

huck on points seems likely, his career is over if he loses this.

i was thinking bisping looks good for the odds!

        khabilov 2/5

no mate i mean he’s taking this fight as his last paycheck and will retire, i mean he’s 40 years old and just got busted for steroids..

he hasnt won a fight for 5 years?
+ bisping has never lost in england…

it’s likely the price will shorten mate, unless frampton is KD early like he was in his last fight.
he outboxes quigg in a cagey first few rounds.
