I CALLED the big games correctly on Tuesday but it was one small one that nearly got me down.
Barcelona were a side I really fancied and it should have been much more than 2-1 at Man City while I predicted both to score as the best bet at Juventus.
However, League Two Portsmouth looked to have sunk the Super Single at the same time as my 31-10 Top Treble of Middlesbrough, Brentford and Wolves was sailing in.
I'd written off Pompey and was already defending my pick on the site when they decided to fight back from 2-0 down to beat Tranmere 3-2 so happy days.
That's five trebles I've landed in four days at prices ranging from 2-1 to 6-1 and I'm not sure why they're doing better than the Super Singles at this moment – although a 9.4pts profit is better than a loss. I'd prefer the singles to win but from a profit viewpoint I'll do fine as long as one of my main bets come up.
Wednesday's a much quieter night with two more Champions League fixtures – Arsenal v Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen v Atletico Madrid. I'm on Arsenal and Atletico and there is a separate Champions League preview post.
In the Championship there is just one match as Nottingham Forest entertain Bournemouth and that's not easy to call with the home on a good run under new boss Dougie Freedman.
There's not much else to look at – some Swiss games and a pile of Portuguese second division so if anyone has a steer on them don't be shy.
Nothing much has put me off Arsenal and Atletico Madrid today although I accept Atletico could settle for a draw to take home to the Vicente Calderon. For that reason the Super Single is a double on Arsenal to win and Atletico not to lose.
I've tipped Arsenal to win to nil against Monaco so for a low-stakes top treble will start with no to both to score at the Emirates and over 2.5 goals at Leverkusen. Bayer recently lost 5-4 at home to Wolfsburg and have conceded nine in their last three matches. If they're as wide open again they'll be picked off by the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Mario Mandzukic.
Complete the treble with both to score at Forest-Bournemouth. Forest have banged in 14 in four games since Dougie Freedman replaced Stuart Pearce but kept just one clean sheet. Bournemouth's last four matches have seen both score and earlier in the season Forest won 2-1 at Dean Court.

Dale, never go big on a 7-1 treble – it has a one in eight chance of winning. Arsenal are the safest bet and Atletico should win but remember they’d take a draw. Bournemouth would be the one that concerns me most with Forest on a good run and Bournemouth stuttering a bit.

Morning all , well the two rolling accas were busted last night , but it was fun while it lasted and now I’ve got the bit between my teeth to at least hit my 67 goal, so I’m going to start again. I feel like Arsenal and Athletico will win tonight, had I followed my instincts last night I’d have won a lot more than I ended up with. So tonight I’m going for it. Having a double of:

Wsw have left a load of players at home and are currently running last in A league. They were unlucky against adelaide at the weekend but this is not the same team.

Interesting you should mention that petermac. Have been looking at the asian champions league. Past matches have seen a lot of BTTS come in. Thought BTTS in this Brisbane Roar game was a banker but the away side look very sluggish (lack of match fitness) and Brisbane whilst they’ve had a lot of possession have created nothing. I can’t see Arsenal not winning. Think they’ll manage a 1-0 or a 2-0 so its a no brainer to have a smaller stake on this than a slightly larger one on just Athletico to win. My only concern in the Athletico game is that if it gets to the last ten mins I think they will be delighted with a 1-1 and won’t push too hard to win it on the night if they can take Leverkusen back home level with an away goal.

My reasoning behind this is that although Bournemouth sit 3rd in the table they have only the 9th best head to head record against the other 11 clubs that make up the top half of the championship. Bournemouth have the best record of all the top half clubs though against sides in the bottom half and average around 2.6 points per game against bottom half sides but only 1.1 points against top half sides. Forest are averaging around 1.5 points against their fellow top half clubs, around 5th best, so seem to perform better against the top half teams than Bournemouth. These are simply averages but at a reasonable price for 2 goals I think it is worth a bet. Dougie Freedman has got them scoring goals again and 14 in the last 4 games, 3 3 4 4, albeit against bottom half sides shows he favours a good attacking style and Bournemouth are not known for shutting up shop so hopefully we will see a game with plenty chances and with a bit luck a couple of Forest goals.

Can I just say that there seems to be a lot of the old I backed this and I backed that stuff again on here. Does anybody really care who backs what other than if you actually follow a tip? If someone wants to tell everybody they backed a winner then so be it, only a tiny percentage of people on here actually know each other and the rest are simply names. Gambling is not a normal hobby as it can lead to addiction and cause massive problems if done wrongly and it is also known for bringing out the worst in people. From my experiences I know for a fact many many poor gamblers who lose big tend to put on a brave face and only highlight their occasional winner as it is such a rare occurrence it actually seems much better than it is. I would love to see every single person on here winning every single bet as it would put bookies money in their pockets and improve their lifestyle but that will never happen. Why not just allow people to post anything they like regarding wins or track records and leave it at that? I judge peoples opinions by what they have tipped and posted in the past and I also happily post my own stuff for anyone to either follow or ignore. I can admit to losing heavily over the course of my betting lifetime as I do not have an ego to feed and also know my strategy these days pays dividends as several guys on here have been decent enough to highlight that they now win money regularly as opposed to losing constantly before doing what I did and switching to a market that gives us the edge over the bookies. Live and let live guys.

A good result for Derby yesterday and nobody else around us slipping up. Bournmouth really need to be at the races today and I have mixed feelings about that match. I think Florist will scrape a win – but I’d like bournmouth to beat them – because I’m a derby fan, but in reality whatever the result, however it ends, Derbys fate is now for the first in our hands, win all our 14 games, we win the league. We’re not daft though and we know theres little chance of us winning 16 games on the bounce, but I do expect us to chalk off another win away @ Fulham on Saturday. We’ve hammered them home and away ( league cup and league fixture this season ).
Bournmouth have had a rocky few games and dropping points at their current rate could see them fall out of the top 6 – 4th to 7th is separated by 1 point so it is entirely possible that those positions could and probably will rotate around at least once a week for the next few weeks. Ipswich have been quite consistant, middlesborough have bounced back with a win and Watford/Brentford/Norwich all want a piece of the playoff race spots. Exciting stuff.

I could reel off endless stats to support this but I will keep it very brief but please refer to odds checker for the opta stats. Arsenal currently enjoys a good record against French opposition under Wenger and Monaco does not concede many. I have checked the last 10 fixtures for both teams and most games tend to end fewer than 2.5 goals. Again this will be irrelevant unless the bet lands! I fancy the Arsenal win but can never quite trust them since the 3-3 and the debacle surrounding the “technical glitch” that removed the 365 cash in. Hands up if you remember that? I think this is an outrageous price considering the trends associated with both teams although be weary Monaco have a few defenders out. That might make a difference it might not as this meant to be top level stuff. I am going to take a chance on the below.

Raal I think we’ve been pretty consistent at home to be honest. And tend to start strong and quickly at home too, especially in champions league. at the anderlecht game we were in complete control and it was just complacency as we were in too much of a comfortable position. I can’t see that happening tonight as we don’t have a second chance, we need a good home result. We started very well against dortmund and even last season against bayern we battered them until that stupid penalty miss and red card. I really can’t see them dealing with the pressure we’ll put on them, and we’re a different kind of opponent to what they faced in their group with benfica & zenit. Going for a half time bet tonight and the game is Arsenal v Monaco.
Thinking along the lines of Arsenal coming out all guns blazing at the start and with Arsenal avoiding the so called big guns this might be a game that Wenger thinks as 1 of the easier ones tho he would never come out and say that.
So i reckon a bit of value would be Arsenal to be leading at half time 6/5 various bookies.
Monaco only managed 4 goals in the six group games and all of them came under 2.5 and so has 14 of the last 15 away games they have played priced at 8/11 @ skybet, so don’t see much value in that myself so would leave that alone over 2.5 is best priced 13/10 and might be worth a nibble for some small interest.
But for me Arsenal to lead at half time seems a good bet adding the 4-5 Monaco players missing i seen then even more reason to think Wenger will get them up for a quick start.
One stat that is a bit worrying is Monaco only conceded 1 goal in the group stages as well as only scoring 4 so this has to be taken into account and stakes will be relatively small for me, but saying that Arsenal must be thinking this fixture gives them as good a chance as any of going through to the next round as they have been eliminated at this stage the last 4 seasons and for this reason i reckon Wenger will have them pumped up and in top gear from the off.

They are consistent with winning their home games and Monaco are not in full strength. 1.60 for home win is too short for me, Arsenal to score 2 goals or more for 1.95 as well, so I decided to try a bit underused market which is Anytime Correct Score. Arsenal is often having great first halves, so I will go with 2-0 as anytime score for a juicy 2.75

My Bet Of The Day however will be Atletico Madrid to beat Bayer Leverkusen. Germans are not in a good form at the moment and on a run of 5 home games without a win. Atletico won 3 out of their last 4 games and that 2-0 defeat by Celta Vigo shouldn’t really matter today. Simeone’s men will try to reach the Champions League final again and this time win it and they are not without chances if they play like with Real Madrid when they won 4-0 recently. This is an away game for the Spanish team and bookies see it again as low score – I can see Atletico winning 0-2 or 1-2. 2.75 is a fair price in my opinion and I will take it. Monaco will be without both central defenders and while they have a good domestic defensive record this Arsenal team will be as good as anything they face in Ligue 1. Arsenal have scored at least 2 goals in their last 5 games. I will be on Arsenal O1.5g at 20/21 Boyles.
In the goal scorer market, Giroud, Carzola and Sanchez is who I was looking at and I have opted for the latter. Sanchez is 6 games without a goal, but as scored 3 in five in the Champions league and all 3 coming at home. He was brought for these big games and I will be on him to end his drought. He looks a good price at 17/10 Betvictor.

You need to view from when Wolves win the ball back. Twenty whole passes before Sako drops the shoulder and unleashes a thunderbolt into the bottom corner. Also note every pass was in Fulham’s final third unlike the Argentina super goal of WC 2006 when the first ten passes were barely over their half way line. One of the greatest goals I have ever witnessed live. If it had been a Premiership team that had done that they would be showing it twenty years later.

I’ve tightened up the criteria, moving Over picks from 50% (based on 02.5 this season) to 60% and 50% to 40% for Unders, as this significantly reduces the number of picks per day, this stricter acca combines both O0.5MG and U5.5MG together, to make a new “Please score but not too many acca”
Where the bet is O0.5MG it will show O next to the team name and U for when the bet is U5.5MG

Something I’ve been considering in the past few days is an unlikely trixie. Basically, three outsiders but with reasonable chance of an upset. Not necessarily the biggest priced outsiders but ones who have a chance afterall it needs at least two winners
It would only be small stakes but winnings could be surprisingly good. Nothing decided yet but if the three outsiders in tonight’s main games were backed in a trixie then I’d be happy right now. Worst thing is, it’s always the last match of your acca that lets you down…. 5 accas… burnt to a crisp by Arsenal’s lacklustre performance.

Your entitled to your own opinions but it was boring I felt. Quiet crowd – Arsenal was terrible – Monacco was just passing the ball around like you would in a playground.
Maybe it would of felt a good game if I had a bet on it but glad I didnt.
What was good about the game ? Monacos performance ??? They don’t have only conceded 1 before today in the group stage so no biggie. A boring game to watch and the pundits also agree. They are saying the same thing.

I don’t always go with stats and this was one of them games, where as yesterday’s winner and the day before wasn’t. Hope this explains my thinking but I’ve had 2 very recent BTTS winners 1/1 & 11/10 all against stats. Each to there own but it definatley works a treat for me.
