BAS DOST! Sounds like cursing in a foreign tongue but it's not. Bas Dost is the Wolfsburg striker in amazing form and two goals against Sporting added to three he recently notched in wins over Bayern Munich and four at Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend.

I think Dortmund have finally shrugged off the awful first half of the season. They have scored 7 goals in their last two games, those two teams were Mainz and Freiburg who currently sandwich Dortmund in the table. At Stuggart today who anchor the Bundesliga, having only won once at home and drawn twice, losing seven. Only 4 goals scored in 10 games conceding 19. Dortmund have scored 2 or more in their last four games against Stuggart and I’m hoping they continue their good run having had a weeks rest.

Think I may have found a bit of value for tonight. There is a game between Dundalk and Drogheda in Ireland listed as a friendly. It is actually a yearly contest for a cup that will go to extra time and pens if no winner, hardly a friendly! Bookies have made Dundalk overwhelming favourites even though the last time they claimed the cup was in 2010. You can have Drogheda at 17/2 for the win, 11/2 dnb or 5/2 double chance. Worth a couple of quid. I’d like to hear what Sean Ireland has on this. My punt on Whitley bay so very nearly came off with Blyth equalising on 88 minutes. I bottled it and cashed out anyway! Love trying to spot a bit of value in obscure games.

If memory serves Drogheda won it last year on penalties. Not I game I would consider betting on. It has a competitive edge, it’a local derby after all, but it is essentially still a pre-season friendly.
The prices on Drogheda do look half decent though. Mind they beat Dundalk 4-1 in the first league game of last season? Thing is, Dundalk have a very settled squad which is unusual in LOI football. They have lost Pat Hoban but Richie Towell re-singing is huge result for them. Their captain Stephen O Donnell should be fit after missing much of last season and they have signed Ronan Finn from Shamrock Rovers who bags plenty of goals from midfield. They’ve changed keepers with Glasgow’s Peter Cherrie heading North to the Irish league, replaced by Gary Rogers from Sligo Rovers and that’s another good signing. Jake Kelly is another interesting signing who could prove to be a diamond.
I will be keeping a keen eye on David McMillan who scored a monstrous amount of goals in the league cup and games when Hoban was missing. If he maintains a starting spot he could be a good shout for leading scorer this season.
Just seen that Ronan Finn has scored 5 goals in four pre-season matches so far. He’ll be one worth looking at fir FGS in the coming season I should think.

VTB Stuttgart vs Borussia Dortmund seems to be serious bank builder. Stuttgart have been struggling at the bottom of the table for some time now. Their home form has been horrible – They have only got 5 of their 18 points at home. This has largely been due to the lack of goals they have scored – They have only scored 4 home goals this season with the last one coming all the way in October.
Borussia Dortmund have also had horrible season but they seem to have taken a turn after Reus’return with 7 points in their last 4 games hitting 7 goals in the last 2.
It seems like this should be straight forward bet with Dortmund to win @ 1.73. However, with all that said it is worth noting that in the last 9 games against these two – 5 have been a draw and the rest Dortmund wins.
