BAS DOST! Sounds like cursing in a foreign tongue but it’s not. Bas Dost is the Wolfsburg striker in amazing form and two goals against Sporting added to three he recently notched in wins over Bayern Munich and four at Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend.
He’s one to watch this weekend for sure and I was pleased to tip him to score first last night. Bas Dost is a best 7-2 at Paddy Power to break the deadlock at home to Hertha Berlin on Sunday. I also backed Xherdan Shaqiri to net for Inter against Celtic – remember the tips don’t lie!
My scorer tips disguised an otherwise disappointing Europa League night with Young Boys being well cuffed by an Everton side who played their best stuff in months.
Celtic also put on a show to come from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 in a thriller with Inter Milan but it’s asking a lot to go to the San Siro next week and win – or score four.
On Friday we have Raith v Rangers and there will be a separate preview on that one. Rovers are a biggest 9-2 with bet365 but I’m advising caution.
There are two games in England with Wigan entertaining Charlton in the Championship and Accrington being backed to beat Cheltenham in League Two.
In Serie A Juventus are a short price at home to Atalanta, Getafe face Espanyol in La Liga, Nice welcome Monaco in Ligue 1 and in the Bundesliga Borussia Dortmund travel to Stuttgart.
There are as usual the popular lower-league games in France and Holland so plenty to look at. As usual I’ve been concentrating on my weekend Daily Record columnsbut have managed a quick look at the games.
After successive wins I’m on Dortmund at basement boys Stuttgart and I expect Standard Liege to beat Beveren as the countdown to the end of the first part pf the complicated Belgian season starts. That double is today’s Super Single.
I can’t trust Wigan despite their defeat of Reading in midweek and while Accrington were being backed that was before Cheltenham sacked their manager so it’s a game to beware. My thoughts on Raith-Rangers are clear in the preview post.
