I CALLED both Champion League matches correctly last night and hope to do the same again with ties in Italy and Turkey.

However, while I’m confident Galatasaray will beat Schalke I’m not sure if tournament favourites Barcelona will take a lead to Spain for the second leg.

So let’s start with the less glamorous of the two matches which sees struggling Schalke head for Istanbul.

Fans famously love to taunt the opposition with “Welcome to Hell” banners and it could be a nightmare for the Germans who are in disarray having won just one match in 12.

Huub Stevens was replaced by the inexperienced Jens Keller but on the pitch nothing has improved and even Dutch hitman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is suffering having failed to hit the net since November.

Galatasaray, meanwhile, are on the up having taken advantage of a lucrative TV deal to sign Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba.

It was of course Drogba who inspired Chelsea to glory against Bayern Munich before heading for pastures new in China. But he’s back in the limelight and has hit the ground running at his new club.

Galatasaray are 13-10 at Ladbrokes and Blue Square and Drogba is 11-2 at Blue Square to fire the opener.

Drogba will look to take advantage of a Schalke defence that’s conceded 13 goals in five games – with just one clean sheet – but if the Ivory Coast ace is marked tightly his team-mate Burak Yilmaz could prosper.

Yilmaz, with 11 goals in his last 13 matches, is 13-2 at William Hill and BetVictor to break the deadlock and 21-10 at BetVictor to net at any time.

Schalke may have defensive deficiencies but have netted in 13 of their last 14 European ties so both teams to score is worth considering at 3-4 with BetVictor.

So now to Milan and what could be a blockbusting tie against Barcelona. Not surprisingly Barca are massive favourites at 4-7 with William Hill to win in the San Siro while Paddy Power offer 1-7 on them them to qualify.

It’s always tough backing against Barca but there’s a chance a Milan team who have won six in a row at home will give them a decent games. However, they’ll be missing the cup-tied Mario Balotelli who has made a flying start on his return to this homeland.

For anyone interested Milan are 11-2 (various) but the best they’ll get is a draw (10-3, Ladbrokes, bet365) and only if the likes of Lionel Messi has one of those nights.

Milan struggled through their group but have improved dramatically since then, losing just once in 11 games. Barca are the best but are not invincible as Celtic showed so a draw is a possibility and they’d be happy enough to finish the job at the Nou Camp.

Messi is on a record-breaking scoring run in La Liga so it’s diffiuclt to ignore him for first goal at 9-4 with Coral and just 1-2 at Stan James, unibet and Coral to net at any time.

With Balotelli out Milan will look to Stephen El Shaaraway, expected to be fit enough to start, for a goal. He is 11-4 with Coral and Blue Square to score.

Milan collected 17 yellows in the group stage and 4-6 with William Hill to be first team to receive a card from Scottish ref Craig Thomson.

Strangely, both of tonight’s ties are being handled by Scots whistlers with Willie Collum the man in the middle in Istanbul – where it could be slightly hotter than Dundee-St Mirren for example.

(13-10, Ladbrokes, Blue Square)

Yilmaz to score
(21-10, BetVictor)

Messi to score first
(9-4, Coral)

Milan first booking
(4-6, William Hill)

Last night was the easiest Money i have ever made …. Arsenal are p*ss poor and Bayern at evens was incredible… tonight I am on another double, Gala and Barca … Come on!

  2. Jonathan Grieve 5 years ago

Defo on the same wavelength as u with the Galatasaray v Schalke game Paul. I was actually thinking about putting Drogba and Yilmaz both on 1st scorer e/w. Wot u think?

  3. Jonathan Grieve 5 years ago

Hmmm, didn’t actually know that much about how Galatasaray play so looked in2 it a wee bit………
There is a very good chance that they’ll only go with 1 striker with Sneijder in behind so Yilmaz and Drogba probably won’t both start.
With this in mind,I think i’ll wait 2 see the teams and go 1st goalscorer e/w on whoever starts, and anytime goalscorer on whoever is on the bench as I’d imagine they’ll both play at some point. Might even b worth doing a Chris Guy and go last goalscorer on whoever starts on the bench

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Jonathan, as I said to Danny it’s always better to wait for teams but I’d be surprised if Drogba didn’t start.

  4. Danny 5 years ago

lads careful with galatasaray goalscorers they do still play with 2 upfront with sneider in behind but Bulut will probably start (just and opinion hes better than Yilmaz same amount goals right enough they may even start upfront toghether with drogba on bench) WAIT FOR TEAM NEWS

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Danny, from what I’ve read Drogba will definitely start. Yilmaz is also likely to play with his recent goal record and he did well in the qualifiers too. But as usual there’s nothing wrong with seeing teams before betting on scorers.

Danny, tips are up so off to walk the dug. When I get back we’ll have had our 4 millionth page view so thanks to everyone who supports the site. More than 3 million of those have been in the last 14 months so it’s been really busy.

      • Danny 5 years ago

thats amazing Paul 4 million views mostly good stuff anaw heres hoping for another 4 million

  5. john g 5 years ago

Does anybody think this is a good bet, its in William hill. Barca to win and both teams to score @ 7/4.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

John, if you think both will happen then it’s fine. I can see that price matched by a couple of bookies but don’t see the double any bigger.

  6. Mr H 5 years ago

Without having looked too much into the stats yet I’m thinking of the handicap markets and total goals. Gala -1 with Milan +1 and both games too have over 3.5gls

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Mr H, I’m happy to go with Gala straight win as odds are good enough. As I said Barca are expected to win but if Milan defend well they could hold them to a draw. Not sure about over 3.5 in both games – that’s a big ask.

  7. Danny 5 years ago

thats it does nae harm in waiting for team news

    fancy a treble of goalscorers

    Britt Assombalonga (Southend)
    Mathias Pogba (Crewe)
    Thomas Ince (Blackpool)

Assombalonga really caught my eye with Tomlin missin the midfielder is there top scorer 6/1 first goal

  8. Mr H 5 years ago

I shall bow too your superior knowledge Paul, the laptop is on the blink and trying too study form and H2H between clubs is hard on a 4″ IPod screen and a single browser window. It’s about as useful as a 1 legged man in an arse kicking contest.

Out of interest Paul do u ever bet on the Premier League darts on a Thursday? I scored we’ll last week with all results correct but there wasn’t anyone on here that’s mentioned it before for me too share thoughts with

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Mr H, you ain’t looked hard. We’ve had darts tips up for the first two Premier League rounds and hopefully tomorrow as well. Look back and then see the comments and you’ll find there was plenty of interest and much debate.

    5 * tip for this evening’s football

Galatasary to beat Schalke @5/4 = 5 points bet

and a 1 point bet on each of these doubles

Gala(5/4) to win plus Ac milan to bt barca ( 5/1)

Galla to win plus Ac Milan to Draw ( 3/1)

    best of luck

  10. john g 5 years ago

I think I might go for a lower risk double tonight then, Gala to win and AC Barca btts.

  11. Seamus 5 years ago

I like the sound of that also John. Think I might get on that. What odds is the double offering?

  12. john g 5 years ago

The double works out @ 2/1 Seamus, it looks no bad on paper. In fact if it doesn’t come up I might just pack it in lol.

  13. peter piper 5 years ago

Seamus the double pays 3.96 with betfred and to be fair I think its good value!

  14. Seamus 5 years ago

Thats decent. I will be having some of that Peter. Safe bet, in theory should be easy moeny. If it doesnt come in I think I will join you. Heres hoping :-)

  15. peter piper 5 years ago

But if you want some greed and go for the turks to be win win half time full time it returns 7.2 at betfred.

Think its worth looking at how the turks win their home games as from memory I ithink theydo come out of the blocks fast :-)

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Peter, I’d rather do the Gala single than the HT/FT double. Less risky in such a big-pressue game.

      • Seamus 5 years ago

A might just stick a five spot on that. Will have a proper look when I get home from work. But defo gettin on AC barca bts and Gala.

        Good lcuk mate

  16. al 5 years ago

Had a dream last night as follows
    Ac Milan 3
    Barcelona 3 @ 80/1
    Galatasaray 3
    Schalke 1 @ 16/1

  17. Flyboivince 5 years ago

    Today’s top treble

    Gala over 2.5
    Barca over 2.5
    Reid wins

    Second top treble
    Orlando pirates to win
    Kaizer chiefs to win
    Ferenvacos to win

  18. al 5 years ago

    I’ve done singles and double
And over 5.5 goals ac Milan game
And over 3.5 goals at galatasaray game
    You never know

  19. Peter Brown 5 years ago

    Am going for…

    Galatasaray/Leyton Orient double

    Ac Milan/Leeds both draws double

    And all 4 in a accumulator at 85/1 @ bet 365

    Good luck

  20. john g 5 years ago

Seamus sorry mate wrong price I put up, ac btts is 5/6, I thought it was 8/11. I just done the double I was talkin about in William hill and it pays 3.85 or just under 3/1 in old money. Galatasaray are 11/10 single .

  21. Callum g 5 years ago

IM GOING Yilmaz to score anytime as you say he seems to be a big time player to who shines on the big derbies and euro nights so galatasaray being at home seem to have at least 2 goals in them so being there top goal scorer scoring ont he night seems automatic so 21/10 looks an amazing price to be honest.

it makes you think sometimes as bookies make prices. Yilmaz has scored one more in this comp than messi and hes 4/9 to score tonight and hes away from home .

    Yilmaz to score anytime 21/10

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Callum, bookies now focusing on Drogba who of course wasn’t there during the group stage. I expect him to start but I know a couple of people have hinted at the fact he might not.

  22. Seamus 5 years ago

Sounds good to me mate! Hopefully both smiling come the full time whistles the night peter !

  23. murflufc 5 years ago

any advice for the overs/under market?

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

murflufc, I’d go overs at Galatasaray and possibly at Milan though I can see that being 1-1 or 1-2. Gala should win and Schalke are expected to score so maybe 2-1 or 3-1 there.

  24. Chris Guy 5 years ago

Coral and Ladbrokes doing no ey back specials on the football tonight.

Ladbrokes – will refund losing first goalscorer bets up to a maximum of £25 as a free bet if Messi scores first or last.

Coral – will refund losing first goalscorer, last goalscorer and correct score bets in both games tonight if the first goal of the particular game is scored by a header.

Available in shop, online and telephone betting

  25. Chris Guy 5 years ago

Sneijder (Galatasaray) First Goalscorer @ 10/1 with Ladbrokes.

Iniesta (Barcelona) First Goalscorer @ 12/1 with Ladbrokes.

Sneijder & Iniesta as a Double for First Goalscorer @ 143/1 with Ladbrokes.

Barcelona to win by 1 goal @ 3/1 Ladbrokes
Galatasaray to win by 1 goal @ 16/5 Ladbrokes
Double returns just over 16/1 @ Ladbrokes

Time of first booking in both games tonight under 29 mins £10 returns £33.60 @ Bet365.

Still deciding on an anytime scorer for Galatasary but will await team news.

    Good Luck everyone

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Chris, two Scots refs in charge tonight and they’ll want to stamp their authority early. I think you’re about the bookings. Sneijder and Iniesta are good prices but have so much competition to score first.

    • FATHEAD 5 years ago

Like the look of both teams to win by 1 goal Chris, think I’ll have some of that. Good Luck

  26. alex walker 5 years ago

If scottish refs tonite bet there are pens in both games after all the shirt pulling at parkhead last wk! They will want to make a issue of it! Wonder what price that is!

  27. suzie 5 years ago

Hey peeps,i put £20 on Leicester game btts last night, and won £34..you think i should lump the lot on Milan game btts ???

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Suzie, I’d say of tonight’s games the most likely to be btts is Leeds v Blackpool.

    • Danny 5 years ago

Suzie stick it on Galatasaray race to 2 goals @ 6/4 34 returns 85

  28. Chris Guy 5 years ago

Paul its going to be Sneijder

  29. Chris Guy 5 years ago

Much would you risk on the booking under 29mins Paul. I was thinking about throwing on a ton to get a half decent win. What you reckon? I think both games will be quite fiery.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Chris, I can’t give you a stake, only you know what you can risk. But both bets look good to me and I’d try singles and the double.

  30. suzie 5 years ago

Right guys, ive gone for AC Milan btts,Leeds btts & Galatasaray race to 2 goals…£7.79 Trixie…Returns around £140..Fingers crossed.

  31. Peter Piper 5 years ago

I’ve probably rather stupidly changed my mind

    my double for tonight

Both teams to score and Barcelona to win @ 2/1
Both teams to score and Galatasaray to win @ 10/3

    my logic being …

i fancy all teams to score and barca and Gala to both win … :)

    Good Luck All

  32. Seamus 5 years ago

LOL am the same Peter. Good luck lad

  33. Badham 5 years ago

Glad to see you tipping them Paul cos I need Galatasary for my treble. I had. £30 on United, Bayern and Galatasary. £184 return so fingers crossed.

  35. Jonathan Grieve 5 years ago

    Galatasaray -1 & AC/Barca btts dbl

  37. Kaz 5 years ago

    Hey fellas,

Got a treble of Galatasaray, Barca and Orient on for tonight. The O’s are already a goal to the good, I really can’t look past Barca with the team Milan have put out and really sure Galatasaray will do the business at home. Look a real strong side!

    Best of luck everyone.

  38. Guido 5 years ago

Just Galatasaray single for me tonite good value at 6/4 now hopefully.
ACM v FCB, think anything could happen Barca a bit short at 4/7 to win, if anyone can stop them tonite an Italian team could do it. Possibly a draw wid suit both?..ach bugger ive talked masel into it. I’ll take the draw as a single as well n double it with Gala

  39. gunner 5 years ago

    what a goal PRINCE SCREAMERRRR

  40. gunner 5 years ago

ac millan cmon i had them x1 but didnt need it hahaha had big wedge on it so happy couldent have barca at 1/2 but i made nice proffit

  41. Striker 5 years ago

Yeah right, who in their right mind gonna put a big wedge and lay Barca, a punt maybe but not a lump.

  42. Striker 5 years ago

But then again you’re the same guy who bets against Bayern Munich yesterday, so guess it’s possible

  43. flyboivince 5 years ago

    Today’s top treble

    Gala over 2.5 LOST
    Barca over 2.5 LOST
    Reid wins LOST

    Second top treble
    Orlando pirates to win WON
    Kaizer chiefs to win WON
    Ferenvacos to win WON

  44. Chris Guy 5 years ago

Paul really annoyed was going to back Yilmaz first and anytime but was waiting for team news. On nightshift again, went for a shower then passed out on the bed. Didn’t mean to phone asleep. Woke up at 9am. I would have gone for him @ 13/2 which would have covered my other bets. Glad the yellow cards double came up although only staked £50. Hope I get a few winners tomorrow.

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Chris, the bookings looked a cert and Yilmaz has been banging them in but pity Galatasaray didn’t win.

  45. murflufc 5 years ago

had a punt on yilmaz 1st goal(cheers)no joy on the overs but sure always europa tomorrow night,

  46. Aaron 5 years ago

Hey mr f I did leon clarke and yilmaz fgs$5ew double..thabks for the tip. Firstly as the first goal was an own goal for cov does clarkebstill claim first? Out it on at hills. And secondly I worked it to be $287.80 odds 13/2 6/1.? Any help so I know I don’t get done thanks!

    • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Aaron, own goals are void with William Hill so Clarke would be first scorer. I make your payout £272.50 off the top of my head. Pretty certain they’ll pay you what you’re due anyway.
