I GAVE Barnsley the chop at the weekend and threw away the chance of three successive Super Single winners on the same team.

They were in my aways though as they came up trumps at home to MK Dons in the FA Cup.

Next up for David Flitcroft's men, with six wins in seven games since he took charge, is a home meeting with Dean Saunders' Wolves.

I like the look of Barnsley at 7-5 with William Hill but accept Wolves are slowly impoving and did well to hold Derby 0-0 away at the weekend.

There's a busy card in England and I'll be on Barnsley to make it five wins in six against Wolves.

Leaders Cardiff, 21-20 at BetVictor, should beat Brighton at home and take Crystal Palace, 4-6 various, against Bristol City at Selhurst Park.

Sheffield Wednesday are going well, unbeaten in four, and can win at a Birmingham side booed off after their 4-0 home to Watford at the weekend. The Owls are 2-1 at bet365.

In League One the big game is Tranmere v Swindon – and the visitors will go top with a win. Swindon

In League Two improving Bristol Rovers (21-10, various) can see off a Rotherham side they've beaten 3-1 and 5-2 in their last two meetings. Rovers have won five out of six to haul themselves awaw from the drop zone.

The big game in the Conference is Forest Green v Kidderminster and both have scored in this fixture in the past six seasons. Joint leaders Wrexham and Grimsby should win at Gateshead and Braintree respectively while Woking, 11-8 at Ladbrokes and BetVictor, can beat a Barrow side that's conceded 15 goals in three games.

I’m surprised not to see Stranraer v Arbroath in the BTS line, the last few meetings look pretty good

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, to be honest I had 10 or 11 games I liked the look of so cutting down to five wasn’t easy. Stranraer was one of those and I ruled it out because it’s been no to both to score in Arbroath’s last three while Stranraer haven’t scored in three of their last five. Both have scored in the past four meetings though so if I had to bet I’d be on the yes.

  3. Mr H 11 years ago

I’ll be on Barnsley,C.Palace,Watford and Cardiff tonight in England.

My treble for all comps will be Munich,Barnsley and Palace

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Mr H, I like that treble although I’m more wary about midweek results than weekend ones. On current form Barnsley should win but there is no doubt Wolves are getting there and have only conceded one in their last three away games. So it looks like Dean Saunders is concentrating on a solid defence before looking at the other end because goals have been in a bit of short supply. Palace are so strong at home and should be OK against Bristol City.

Did you have the Bristol Rovers v Rotherham game on your list? Just wondering your thoughts on it

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, it was on the list. Knocked it off because Rovers have kept successive clean sheets but last two meetings have seen 11 goals.

  9. steve myers 11 years ago

    cardiff win 10/11

  10. Danny 11 years ago

looking at my stats rotherham away form looks pretty good last 8 w6 l2 Rovers last 8 homes w4 l3 d1 tough game to call rovers being top of the overall form table and at home could notch it by one goal

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Danny, it’s a game betwen two sides in decent form but as you as Rovers top of the form table.

  11. Stevie H 11 years ago

Rotherham win it puts them in a great position in the league so im avoiding B.Rovers and taking Rotherham (no doubt regret it)

    Watford 6/4
    Leicester 4/7
    Forest 4/5
    Northampton 7/5
    Rotherham 11/8

just sticking £3 on it tho for abit of intrest

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Stevie H, that’s not a good reason for backing a side. All teams want to win and three points always makes their position better, same as it would for Bristol Rovers.

  12. john g 11 years ago

Bayern Munich, Crystal Palace and Barnsley treble, that’s tonights bets. Pays about 6/1
Looks like easy money on paper!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John g, easy money? It doesn’t exist. I like the three teams but got to say it wouldn’t surprise me if one doesn’t win. Don’t know which one though.

    barnsley motherwell mansfield
    porto to draw with malaga

  14. 1plus2 11 years ago

Rotherham have thrown a spanner in the works a few times for me in the past when they are playing great then bam coupon buster.

Since John Ward took over in Dec 2012 Rovers have had an excellent run under him and only recently beat Rotherham 3-1 at Rotherham so they aint playing to shabby at the moment, but it looks a hard one to be decisive on the outcome but on a bright note for Rotherham punters they will have that home defeat fresh in there minds and should be up for it.

  15. John 11 years ago

Also what about Brechin v Ayr, all those goals scored recently surely makes it one of the first to go on a BTS list

    • 1plus2 11 years ago

Aye John Brechin 24 goals at home and Ayr 21 away from home in the league so surely it’s a stick on btts

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

1plus2, Brechin v Ayr was on my shortlist but as John pointed out last three meetings have been won to nil so that put me off a bit. I still think both will score though but I’ve picked my five. Noticed SFL games are on William Hill btts shop coupons but not Ladbrokes this week.

  16. 1plus2 11 years ago

Well my Quest took a small hit yesterday so tonight it’s a rather conservative bet on Cardiff/Draw no bet. Until i can manage to get a half decent bank going it will have to be small stakes.

Looking at some facts Brightons never lost a game when they score 1st this term but they have also not won 1 when they go behind so whoever scores 1st looks like they have a wee advantage to go on and win or at least draw.

Plus the fact that Brighton have had a poor run of results of late so lets hope they get another bad 1 tonight lol

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

1plus2, Cardiff should win but they’ve had a few edgy displays recently. However, signing of Frazier Campbell has given them a lift.

    • AC 11 years ago

1plus2 .. Surely if you are on this quest thing or whatever you are doing you have put a nice big sum on Bayern Mucnich??

    • 1plus2 11 years ago

Well the problem is AC is getting the big lump to put on at the minute, the Quest maybe longer than expected.

  17. Craig 11 years ago

Notts Forest, Stirling Albion and Woking… What you all think?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Craig, if my Forest supporting colleague saw your treble he’d be going mental. Stirling and Woking I like the look of but as far as Nottm Forest goes I’d hold off backing them until you see how they improve under Billy Davies. With Huddersfield you don’t really know what you’re getting these days.

  18. Craig 11 years ago

Stockport County have won their last 3 home games… Surely their 4th against Tamworth?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Craig, I’d say possibly but not surely. As you say Stockport have been good at home recently but it’s a game between two evenly-matched teams. Tamworth have drawn their last three including a 2-2 at Newport so I can’t rule out a draw. Stockport not to lose would be my shout but not at good odds.

  19. John 11 years ago

Just seen a few wins to nil in the last few meetings between Brechin v Ayr

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, first thing to look at is form. Stats count for a bit but quite often it’s different players, different managers and even meetings in different leagues. Look at Ayr’s last three results – 5-2 v Albion (h), 2-2 v Alloa (a) and 3-3 v East Fife (a). On past meetings I’d go for win to nil but on form I wouldn’t.

    • John 11 years ago

So looking at form is the best way to pick games for both to score? I suppose it’s common sense but it’s still a very good tip which i’ve used and found 4 decent weekend games already :-)

  20. Lee 11 years ago

AFC Wimbledon have dropped to the bottom of League 2 after a run of 5 games without a win, although they did win last time out.
Northampton are sitting in the final play off place and have won 7 of their last 10 league matches.
A win for Northampton could see them end up the night in the automatic promotion places and i fancy them to win here

Mr Fix It, do you not fancy Northampton away at AFC Wimbledon? Thoughts?

    Cheers

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Lee, again it’s no certainty. You killed your own argument by saying Wimbledon were on a run of five defeats then won last time out. That victory was against Bradford so deserves a bit of respect. If I look at a game and I’m not sure I tend to leave it out but if you fancy Northampton then back them.

  21. Stevie H 11 years ago

True but given recent games and an incentive to be in an automatic position I would tend to favour Rotherham, it seems as its a game that can go either way so no doubt end a draw and burst both of us haha

  22. ross 11 years ago

  24. Lee 11 years ago

Also Neither teams are world beaters but stenhousemuir are capable of taking all three points back home. Albion are below the visitors by several places and in my eyes shouldnt put up any fight or resistance and should go down several goals to nil. I fancy an away win.

    Thoughts?
    Cheers

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Lee, Albion Rovers will put up a fight all day long. And if you’ve ever been to Cliftonhill you’ll know it’s a tough place to visit. It was 4-4 when the sides met there earlier this season and on current form Stenny edge it but have lost their last two away games.

Also I fancy both teams to score

  35. Muzza 11 years ago

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Weordie, Bayern/Porto double looked good. What happened?

    • weordie 11 years ago

Mr. Fixit, what happened was I got greedy and tried to up my possible winnings by adding in Motherwell and Cardiff… that was a roaring success :-), my own fault.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Weordie, fair enough but I expected Cardiff to win even though I warned they’ve thrown in some edgy displays recently. Motherwell was a strange one. A side in decent form failing to net against one that shipped six at the weekend. But fair play to Dundee Utd boss Jackie McNamara who somehow inspired a clean sheet form his dodgy defence.

    Gambling Problems

Gambling itself is a social problem; gambling problems are wide reaching, affecting not only the person involved in gambling, but also those around him. Apart from the financial liabilities that gambling incur, the physical and emotional damage to oneself and to others pushes the gambler into an abysmal despair; efforts to rise from the pit of destruction most often takes the gambler to more and more gambling sprees.

With the Internet opening up the possibilities of a more private gambling arena, gamblers find it easy to squander money without getting noticed easily. The promise of instant gratification in online gambling increases the chances of a gambler turning into a problem gambler very soon. Several studies also support the fact that online gambling is more addictive and the percentage of gamblers with compulsive gambling disorders are more among the online gamblers. The frequency of the moments of delusions of grandeur is higher in online gambling.

Gambling addiction and gambling problems are not inseparable though the latter is not limited to the gambler alone. While addiction is an illness, the resulting problems are mainly emotionally draining situations that are difficult to control like accumulating debts, physical assault, shame and insult from the society, joblessness, and frictions in relationships. The gambler cannot be treated for the problems; he needs treatment for addiction. Gambling addiction help encourages the gambler to come out of the illusionary world of grandeur, whereas the gambling problem help is intended to support the people around the gambler to cope with the issues that gambling has created. The gambler should not be held responsible for the state of affairs while he is undergoing the recovery program, it will only worsen the negative self image that the gambler has and make him wallow in self pity. The family members must have patience and the willingness to accept the fact that damage once done cannot be reversed. They are taught to live with it while trying to avoid more such situations in future.

When the gambler has progressed in his path of recovery, he may become aware of the devastating conditions at home; it is important to lend emotional support at this time as this realization can be detrimental to the gambler who may want to pay back all debts and reverse all the unhappy moments in life. Make him understand that what is gone should not be cried upon; look forward to a better way of life with optimism.

  90. tank 11 years ago

alex – im not blaming anyone, you could make that point about drugs or other things, but the fact is it destroys lifes, and im fed up of how its paraded around everywhere now days, likes its all glamour and fun, its not, we have alchol responsibilty adverts but why not gambling?

  91. gunner 11 years ago

tank u spot on was n bookes earlyer not one person crack a smlle or lough exept them behnd counter but see what u saying but if u good a bettng why not and have a limit know its hard i go over my limit chasing my loses back sometimes

  92. Guido 11 years ago

Sounds like Tank needs to get Tanked up the night before committing hari kari…depressing everyone on the site!! :-)

  93. Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Tank, if you don’t like gambling and have a problem then don’t come on to the site. We always encourage people to only stake what they can afford. Football betting can be fun and profitable but people who have a problem are more likely to play casinos and slots.

  94. Guido 11 years ago

Muzza – were ya not on Bayern n Porto?…

    • MUZZA 11 years ago

      Yes mate & fkin leicester!!!

    • Guido 11 years ago

      hmmmm ;-(

  95. john g 11 years ago

I got ma treble up, so I’m quite happy tonight Bayern, Barnsley, and Crystal Palace

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, decent treble and Barnsley still flying. My main bet was the Bayern/Porto double but elsewhere, as I warned it might be, it wasn’t the best night … unless you’re a Forest fan.

  96. tank 11 years ago

guido, lol good one, i think i do indeed, but seriously not meaning to depress people but just trying to show the other angle, i mean by all means continue, if you choose, but its just weird how gambling is illegal in alot of countries but in the uk its not only legal but its promoted like crazy, just doesnt seem right to me,, i tell you what id hate to be an addict with all the adverts, and online bookies and a bookie on every corner, some streets in london have 6 bookies within 100 yards,…crazy

    • Guido 11 years ago

Yeah I understand what ur saying Tank…keeps a lotta people in jobs n raises a lot of money for Govts Aas well of course. Bit like anything else I suppose, some folk are compulsive shoppers, eaters, drinkers etc…the vast majority eat, shop and drink without a problem?..ya know?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Tank, I don’t smoke but there are dozens of shops within walking distance of my house that sell fags. I drink sensibly and I gamble sensibly. It’s all about having discipline but if addiction’s in your nature then gambling could cause you a problem in the same way people are hit by drink and drugs.

  97. Milesey 11 years ago

    Don’t be silly ;) ;)

It’s like any addiction you can control it, just cause you smoke, doesn’t mean you have to smoke 50 packs aday, just like gambling, doesn’t mean you have to throw away thousands a day, have a plan and stick to it, you lose then write it off, and come back the next day, always stick to the plan you have for yourself. When you put on some of the bets you people do on here then you must expect your going to lose, 5 team accumulators, both teams to score, your leaving that in the hands of fate more then anything. Only bet what you can afford to lose, and your going to lose so never think your not, the dream of getting rich of a tenner is very very rare, and you need so many factors to go in your favour, if you cut out as many risks as you can, then money will come, SIMPLES !

    Milesey

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, you’re right in what you say, it’s like any addiction. I always bang on about singles being a better option but accumulators are loved by punters who don’t play with big stakes. And at the end of the day that’s fine if you’re betting fivers and tenners – the price of a fag and a pint.

  98. Stevie H 11 years ago

2 teams letting me down. Leicester and Northampton. Leicester are murder past few games so not touching them again especially being 4/6!!

Rotherham were a great bet tonight as I said the bookies are giving them away recently. My treble teams to win their leagues at the end of the season still looks good….

    Prem – Man U
    L1 – Sheff Utd
    L2 – Rotherham

  99. tank 11 years ago

believe it or not guys, ive made alot from gambling, but even winning money can be bad, you can lose work ethic, value of money etc.. its just generally not a good business, but if you can keep it moderate and not let it effect you then thats good, but for people who have the deposible income avialible to chase losses, its not always easy, do you guys think you would have the same control if you had alot of money, or is it more that your forced to not go crazy chasing losses because there is not the finacial means to do it,, yh think about it,, so dont have a false pretence of control

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Tank, I don’t think it matters how much you have. I bet the same way whether I’m flush or not. Most of the people on here seem to pretty sensible and don’t chase losses.

  100. Guido 11 years ago

Paul, uve fair cleaned up yer act..used to smoke like Dot Cotton, drink like a Olly Reed and punt like Jp Mcmanaus…nice to see uve turned the corner!! ;-)

  101. Guido 11 years ago

Milsey gotta nice double for 2moro?

    • Milesey 11 years ago

ha ha ha, 1 winner in 2 days, and you want me to get together 2 winners in a day, could be abit hard pushed to be honest the way some of these races are going at the moment….. NAVAN was very crooked today, was talking to a few people and some strange in play bets were being staked today, so i should have stayed away, but tried to play it safe on my picks, didn’t work out that way.

      Milesey

    • MUZZA 11 years ago

Navan was bent as. 9 bob note! Ruby wants dragging in big time……….!!!

    • Milesey 11 years ago

Chicago Grey in running hit 156. on betfair, and about 200 people all with irish accounts, staked the maximum they could on it ;) ;)

      Milesey

    • Milesey 11 years ago

……….. and it was a shame i wasn’t at work, for this is when you follow and get your money on when you see strange activity taking place ;)

      Milesey

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Milesey, were you at the Stevenage game?

    • Milesey 11 years ago

yes, and another game they let slip away again, the manager needs to go now, his tactics and decisions are laughable, and his substitions to get us back in the games…. well only he knows why he would take off our best striker, who was by far the best player tonight, and replace him with a holding midfielder.

      Milesey

    • MUZZA 11 years ago

I bet they did! I think I seen Lynch & Geraghty on the phone during the race!!!!!!!

    • Guido 11 years ago

Sounds indeed like a few of our leprechaun neighbours were in on the sting Milesey…suppose if u get really small fields especially in jumps its always a possibility/horse “slips” gets on the “wrong stride” for the jump etc

  102. alex walker 11 years ago

By the way mr f. Hope my super single is in the draw as watford was my team. Plus who won the wk before treble as i got that up to! Tank you gamble or you dont. I lv it because i lv footy. Dont gamble on the nags or dogs or anything else! As long as you dont blow the wages on daft bets then no worries!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Alex, all correct entries with price quotes will be in the draw whether you are mentioned in the review or not.

  103. tank 11 years ago

fixit, in fairness im probs aiming my anger in the wrong place, it is indeed the casino games like roulette and FOBT in store that are the real cause of the problems, the odd footy bet isnt bad because you bet what you afford to lose, whereas i used to go in to a bookies with 20 to bet on the roulette and end up finishing 2000 lol, its neevr happened to me on the football so i should make that clear and this website is after all for football…

    • Milesey 11 years ago

Then that’s down to you, you should have more control when you play the machines, the staff within bookie shops can’t stop you pumping money in them, but i know they do advise people if they see them hitting the machines big, and if you can’t control it, then go into the shop with i.d and self exclude yourself.

      Milesey

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Tank, that’s where the problem lies for sure but I see bingo halls, for example, opening early and staying open late so people can play the slots. So unless someone clamps down it’s not going to go away.

  104. alex walker 11 years ago

    Thanks paul.

  105. FATHEAD 11 years ago

Aye some strange results today Milesey, hope tomorrow brings us all better luck

  106. John 11 years ago

You mentioned earlier about being more wary of the midweek games than weekend ones, is that down to the time of day they are played at and players are more tired in the evenings than in the afternoons or just in general do you think?

  107. John 11 years ago

Does anyone ever use those fixed odds coupons that give you, for example, 17/1 for 6 homes or 1O/1 for 4 aways?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, you shouldn’t use them because they’re restricting your choice and I’m sure I’ve said that to you before. if they’re enhanced then maybe but if you look at the long list you can pick and choose your games.

  108. usa man 11 years ago

i told ya lads get on oldham im just a good old redneck.

  109. Stephen Miller 11 years ago

    seed for thought.

  110. John 11 years ago

Yes you did, i was getting 17/1 for 6 homes as a fixed price and if i chose the same 6 homes and done them as an accumulator away from the coupon my odds were something like 7O/1, that is just a crazy difference

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, most of these lines are advertised for a reason – they’re in the favour of bookies. It’s the same as sections which punters should never do unless there are big bonuses on offer.

  111. Chris Guy 11 years ago

    Gunner and Tank

Firstly FOBT in the bookies are the worst ever way of gambling. I myself have lost several thousands of pounds in these daft machines and I know people who have lost their home and everything including marriage etc. saying that there are tons of people who can play them sensibly.

With regards to Mr Fixit making money from people then I don’t really buy into this. Signing up through the links would probably result in some form of payment for Mr Fixit but to suggest he gets paid a percentage of your losses is just silly. Say you win, does Mr Fixit have to compensate the bookie? Also as its already been pointed out you don’t have to sign up through the links and most people have online accounts.

Me Fixit genuinely does his best to win punters money and himself. Remember this is a free site do signing up through the links encourages is an incentive for other bookmakers to become involved with the site and to put out exclusive free bets and competitions etc.

To suggest that Mr Fixit wants people to lose is just complete madness. I’ve been following him for years on the site and the paper and there have been several great wins over the years. On a few ocassions bookmakers have conducted investigations as to the amount of payouts all relating to the same bets before they realise that punters had taken Mr Fixits tips from the paper.

    Cheers
    Chris

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Chris, no tipping site hopes punters lose. If we did no one would visit. This is a free site but what you say is right. Money is earned through affiliate links but this is needed to cover costs. And as you know no one is forced to use these links but if they do it helps the site grow. Also the way most affiliate links work if punters win the balance is wiped every month so doesn’t really hit us.

  112. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Anyway, anyone else have Ambrose up?

  113. John 11 years ago

Chris i was looking at a double of Ambrose and Martinez but done a BTS bet instead, who are you on for tomorrow night?

  114. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Having a wee look now John.

  115. Chris Guy 11 years ago

Seen a decent price if anyone wants to for an early bet in for the Celtic vs Dundee game on Sunday. Celtic I believe will bounce back especially at home and should win comfortably. What about Ledley to score now he is starting? Check the difference in odds

    First goal
    16/1 Coral
10/1 sky, Betfred, William hill, Stan James etc

    To score anytime
    6/1 Coral
    7/2 Sky, William Hill
    11/4 Betfred, Paddy Power

    6/1 is overpriced.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Chris, Lennon said the first half was his side’s best display under him and claimed Celtic would have scored six but for St Johnstone keeper Mannus. So don’t think they’ll have any trouble against Dundee whether Ledley scores or not.

  116. John 11 years ago

Overpriced? I wouldn’t put him down to score 1st but maybe anytime, what sort of player is he?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, he’s a midfielder who attacks as much as anyone and also a decent header of a ball so is a threat at corners. Quite often goes on a run of scoring but has been out injured recently.

  117. Chris Guy 11 years ago

John he is a midfielder and has scored a few goals. If he starts I will back him anytime. If I back a player to score anytime ive also got to back them first goal today even if only £10 or £20 and its a wee added bonus if it comes up. For instance I’d put £100 on Ledley at 6/1 and £20 on him first @ 16/1. Total stake £120. If he scores first £1040 back if he scores anytime £700 back.

  118. John 11 years ago

Sounds like a decent player, might be worth a small bet

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, amazed you haven’t heard of Ledley. Signed for Celtic from Cardiff about three years ago and has 44 Wales caps. Think he has about a dozen goals so not prolific but worth an each-way punt.

  119. Turkish 11 years ago

    Milan – schalke – Leyton – Coventry 4 fold

£5 pays Just under £700. Outsider bet.

    Barca. DRAW
    Schalke DRAW
    Blackpool WIN
    Leyton WIN

    £5 pays just over £500

  120. John 11 years ago

I think you find out more about players if you bet on them and their clubs, since i’ve only been betting a little over 6 months i’m still finding stuff out about players….don’t laugh but i never knew Mulgrew existed either until Chris went on about him :-)
