VENUS WILLIAMS is no spring chicken on the tennis circuit but the 34-year-old can still compete with the best and Wednesday morning sees her try to take a step closer to retaining her Dubai Championships crown.

Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam winner, is 4-9 at Ladbrokes to win her third-round match against world No.15 Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic. Former Dubai champs Caroline Wozniacki and Agnieszka Radwanska struggled with injury and sickness respectively yesterday before winning three-setters and they're back in action today.

Radwanska has her work cut out against Garbine Muguruza and is 11-10 at bet365 to see off the Venezuelan who Ladbrokes make the 5-6 favourite. Then in the afternoon Wozniacki is 4-11 at Paddy Power when she takes on Alize Cornet (13-5, Boylesports).

On the ATP circuit there's plenty of action with the likes of Sergiy Stakhovsky and Gael Monfils in action in Marseille, Juan Monaco and Tommy Robredo on court in Rio and Steve Johnson and Ivo Karlovic among the stars on show at Delray Beach.

There's also third-round action from the Welsh Open snooker today plus the likes of cycling's Vuelta Andalucia and United Arab Emirates v Zimbabwe at the Cricket World Cup.

Good luck if you're having a flutter and post your sporting tips and chat here.

How confident are you on NZ to beat England Harry ??

    cricket tip

5 or over 6s in bangladesh and afgan game 8/13

if both teams get to 250 this is possible but cud be a low scorer however surely they can get 5

  3. V P 9 years ago

Probably want Zimbabwe to bat first to avoid a chance of the same thing that happened to New Zealand against Scotland. The 10 or more 6s and New Zealand most 6s would probably have won easily if they’d batted first. Even though they made a bit of a mess near the end of their chase.

  4. Attila 9 years ago

That’s the main reason I avoid cricket betting as it makes a huge difference as to who wins the toss and decides to bet or bowl first dependent on pitch, etc. The odds for cricket can be way off depending on the coin toss.

    **POSTED EARLIER**

    **LOST**
    NHL DOUBLE:
    – New Jersey Devils – Win
    – St. Louis Blues – Win
Pays ODDS of $2.77 (2 pts)

    **WON**
    COLLEGE B’BALL TREBLE:
    – Baylor (-3.5)
    – Kentucky (-7.5)
    – Wake Forest (+18.5)
Pays ODDS of $2.42 (2 pts)

**St Louis Blues collapsed in the 1st 10 mins allowing 3 goals which downed the Treble & my low stakes 8 fold that u also posted. 2nd place vs 2nd last should not get annihilated like that at home.
Anyways, the Basketball 4 Fold won easily so it was a ‘break even’ day.

Can’t believe the price in-play with PP for Shakib Al Hasan top run scorer for Bangladesh.

11/1 Will have to have a nibble at that.

I’m on this mad Tennis Acca:

    C Suarez Navarro (6.5) 1.22
    S Halep 1.08
    C Wozniacki 1.26
    A Ivanovic (2.5) 1.30
    G Monfils 1.11
    S Bolelli 1.11

Pays odds of $5.50 (1.25 pts on)

After some heavy football losses this weekend I tried something new last night.
I placed £5 on Marinko matosevic to beat john isner 6-3 in the first set, at 150/1.
In the end matosevic won the set 6-4, and had a break point at 5-3, when my selection was down to 1/4

I was v close a single win bigger than any acca win I have had on any other sports, and I would like to know how many people have landed shots similar to these?? I am unsure whether to change my way of betting and go for these long shots instead of picking seletions close to evens like I usually do

    • Ad 9 years ago

Being close to a big winner is always a danger as it can make you think long shots are the way to a fortune. You have to tink of it as the loser it is, not a near windfall. Its all to easy to forget the many long shots that don’t come close to landing and just remember the ones that nearly won, or did win. By all means place long shots on things like set scores from time to time, when you have a valid reason for suspecting it might come in. I’ve had good wins on 6-0 sets before. But i wouldnt recommend it as a habit or a pettern of betting. It should just be for small change. See Mr Fix its long shot trial for more advice!

And for anyone else who enjoys the Russian I’ve Hockey, I did some research on today’s card and hopefully avoided all the landmines:

    MHL 4-FOLD:
    – Avto Yekaterinburg – Win 1.20
    – Kristall Berdsk – Moneyline 1.17
    – Irbis Kazan & Draw 1.26
    – MHK Spartak & Draw 1.15
    Pays odds of $2.03

However, I’ve added these 3 safe Snooker legs:
    – Ronnie O’Sullivan – Win 1.18
    – Neil Robertson – Win 1.14
    – Mark Selby +2.5. 1.06

7 FOLD PAYS ODDS OF $2.90 (1.25 pts on)

  10. insider 9 years ago

Hilly personally I don’t know much about tennis, but the best tips you can be given is. Do your research and put on level steaks don’t bet everything you’ve got on one bet. And also I understand evens is very appealing but the bookies are not stupid. It’s all about finding value and covering as many possible outcomes so you win. I’m currently off work sick and I’ve made £50 a day to make up for it. It’s all about having a very methodical approach

  11. Ad 9 years ago

    Jes*s Chr*st
Woken up to find John Isner bad slumped to his worst defeat on a U.S. hardcourt in living memory. Broken to love in the first set then broken again in the first game of the second. And by Matosevic, who never keeps his head and who could barely scrape a break point together against Dustin Brown last week? Dear oh dear. Sorry to anyone I led astray there. Going to have to take a long hard look at myself after that one. Won’t be going near Isner again anytime soon, that’s for sure.

In more pleasing news Muguruza is a set to the good v Radwanska. If she moves ahead, gets break points second set I’ll be cashing out.

    • Attila 9 years ago

AD – Isner burnt me hardcore about 1 month ago…swore id never touch him again…luckily I stayed true to myself. He remains on the blacklist after yesterday!

  12. Harry 9 years ago

Attila, VP, yes I agree, if it’s going to be a very one sided game then it’s important to wait for the toss before betting on things like team or match 6’s. Lesson learnt with new Zealand the other night. There are still other markets that can be very valuable. My tip for shakib to get man of the match looks good if he gets a couple of wickets soon and tip of Bangladesh highest score after 15 overs is already in

  13. Ad 9 years ago

Radwanska now 50/1. Nice to get a 1/1 winner so quickly after that evens double fell flat at the first hurdle.

  14. OriaZ 9 years ago

    Ad,

Was thinking of this 3-fold :

    – Janowicz to win at least 1 set (I think he’ll win, Goffin might find his tennis level back).
    – Wozniacki to win (but i’m not too confident about this one, don’t know if she’ll feel better than yesterday).
    – Tommy Robredo to win

    @ 3/2 (2.50)

  15. Attila 9 years ago

Muguruza breezed it, Makarova made it too. 5 to go. Bit worried about my Ivanonic +2.5 leg. Confident of the rest.

  16. Attila 9 years ago

$hit, Safarova looks up for it Toda. Breaks Venus 1st game.

  17. Attila 9 years ago

Can’t believe Venus got the break back then threw it away straight after…

  18. Ad 9 years ago

Williams not on it. Safarova is. Hopefully we see some cracks start to appear as she starts thinking about the fact she’s going no to win the match

  19. OriaZ 9 years ago

  21. GruntBunny 9 years ago

Really fancy Kent state to beat Ball State tonight. In the last game at Ball State, Kent won by 11 points. Now that Kent are at home, where they have had 9 of their 11 wins by 6 or more points (Ball state, when they lose tend to lose by more than 6), I fancy them with a -6 spread at 10/19. Gone for the easier spread as not much team news around.

Attila, what do you think of this one?

  22. Ernie 9 years ago

Venus Williams….. What a joke! Womens Tennis…. The most unpredictable sport to bet on.

  23. Rafael 9 years ago

Just had the worst betting day of my life. Had Isner in a fivefold, 4 wins and he blew it, now I went big on Venus and it happened again. Unbelievable

    • BRIAN 9 years ago

      Same, Same man, devastated.
Lost a multi yesterday with a 1/10 on Din on the snooker, that was the start of it.

  24. Ad 9 years ago

I thought Venus was slightly too short for a single pre match but I took her in multiples and in play and she’s just not turned up today. Absolutely did not see this coming, I’m not sure anyone did. Safarova has a horrible record here and Venus’s is sensational. She played an absolute blinder in the first round but has played an absolute stinker today. What a time for her worst performance of the year and her worst ever performance in Dubai. Safarovas played a blinder, but it’s jus been too easy for her.

  25. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

Oh dear The Venus who goes behind then loses her mind has turned up.

Ivanovich & Suarez Navarro double or its game set match today so early lol.

They have a chance but with Isner & Venus out can happen.

  26. Ad 9 years ago

3 forehand winners from Williams?! Thats the only stat you need to know to understand hoe poor they was. Shouldn’t downplay Safarovas performance, that was the best ive seen her play in a long, long time. I do wonder why she couldn’t play like that when I backed her to beat a beatable Pliskova last week though. Typical!

  27. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

    Ad

    Ivanovich & Suarez Navarro double.

    Yes or Dodgy?

  28. Ad 9 years ago

Obv pretty risky mate. Pliskova is dangerous if she plays a blinder or Ana has an off day. I like CSNs chances but it relies on Kvitova having one of those days. If she’s good she wins. there are worse doubles though, like Venus/ Isner for example!

  29. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

Cheers Mate i am on it.

  30. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

Yes, we have a game of it now. Ivanovic much more with it. That big serve of Pliskova is always a problem though. Close call, but I went with Ana (and Venus!!)

  44. mlac 9 years ago

anyone fancy jan lenoard struff ? 6/4 agaisnt a guy hes beaten 4 out of the last 4.

  45. OriaZ 9 years ago

    Ad,

What do you think of these two?

    – STRUFF to defeat Stakhovsky @ 11/10 (2.10)

Stakhovsky has only been faced with medium or unform players in Rotterdam
H2H Struff is leading 4-0 (2 indoor) against Stakhovsky and just beat Mahut.

    – KOKKINAKIS to defeat Karlovic @ 137/100 (2.37)

Kokkinakis already won 4 matches in Delray et didn’t loose 1 set yet. He’s in good form and adapted well to the surface. Karlovic on the other isn’t convincing and had trouble getting rid of Brown. Karlovic also never managed to get passed the 2nd round in Delray.

I’m considering these as singles and a double. Your input?

  46. Ad 9 years ago

I like the Kokkinakis pick better than the Struff one. Karlovic not quite at his best recently and Kokkinakis looking good this week. Not so sure about Struff. Sakhovskys playing really well and I think that’s more important that H2H in this matchup. I didn’t see Struff v Mahut so can’t call it really confidently. If it wasn’t for the H2H I would definitely be taking Stakhovsky at that price though.

  47. insider 9 years ago

Navarro was nursing an injury only 3 days ago, what makes you so positive she’s got this? Because from what I can see she’s still not 100%

  48. Brian tennis 9 years ago

Gonna go against the in form souza today. He beat a player that he had a bad h2h against in the last round and he faces another today. Rola’s return to clay has seen him run Almagro and mayer close, with mayer being a perfect warm up for a match with souza. However my main reason for the bet is that I watched there recent match in the challenger tour finals and souza’s style clearly suited rola. 13/8 is a huge price considering rola leads the h2h 3-0 but it’s the fact that rola looked very comfortable in there recent match, that makes this one I can’t avoid

  49. Ellis 9 years ago

    Oriaz and Ad,

That really has just made me giggle. Before I checked the site, I just went and placed a £50 double. Stakhovsky and Karlovic (I like his serve too much)

Good luck though ! Didn’t know if Ad watched it but Almagro was 1/7 , 1/5 looked in complete control and lost lol

    • Ad 9 years ago

Kokkinakis is actually pretty terrible at returning so if he wins it might have to be via tiebreaks. If Karlovic plays well he will very likely win. I am tempted by the youngster though, not at all a safe pick however.

  50. Ellis 9 years ago

    Oriaz,

Well who am I to question well done with the Navarro bet

  53. Ad 9 years ago

Get in! For the second year running CSN sends Kvitova packing from Dubai. 21/10 a steal, CSN bang in form and Kvitova a bit all over the place in her last match. I feared the worst when she double faulted twice at match point, but she got there in the end!

  54. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

    Suarez Navarro you little beauty.

Its not wise to go against staking plan..sometimes the risk pays off..not often though. If only Ivanovich had turned it round it would of being a very decent day..im happy with small profit after earlier defeats.

  55. Ad 9 years ago

Definitely a day for the underdog. Pironkova @ 7/1 to bash Halep off court anyone?!

For anyone interested ive started doing a rolling bank builder acca.

The first round I did just won at odds of around 4/7 and was made up of Nadal, Ferrer, Halep and Bolelli.
I’m taking 80% of the pot and putting it on the next round, which is: Nadal,Ferrer, Young and Wawrinka. I am placing these with Betvictor who’s odds are generally decent and who void retirements. Not worth risking a rolling acca on someone being unwell or getting injured.

I’ve started out with very low stakes so there’s little scope for disappointment. Will hopefully be able to work my way up to bigger figures.

    • BRIAN 9 years ago

I will follow you for a while,

Ronnie O’sullivan just crashed out at 1/6
This a relentless hammering im taking the past few days.

Im following you for the rest of the week, if i dont im going to go on tilt !

1/5, 1/3, 1/10/ and now a 1/6 that what has beat me the past 4 days all for substantial amounts.

Ive taken the account builder at 10 to start, and will take you safe double at 50 each day for the rest of the week

  59. OriaZ 9 years ago

I’m very interested in that Ad and i’ll be following!

  60. Ad 9 years ago

Good stuff Oriaz. As I said I started small and this second bet only has £7.50 staked on it. If it does lose its bt too painful to start again. Hopefully that won’t be an issue!

7/1 Pironkova a break up against Halep at the moment….

  61. Redboy100 9 years ago

Count me in Ad, starting with tiny stakes but will give it a go all the same.

  66. Ad 9 years ago

    Thursday:

    Safarova d Pliskova @ 4/5

Anyone who saw Venus slump to that horrible defeat today will know how well Safarova played from start to finish. Pliskova on the other hand was very up and down, and had a lot of help from Ivanovic along the way. If Safarova gets close to her level from today she should be too good for Pliskova, barring a supremely consistent serving performance. Safarova had the beating of her in Antwerp but fell away, this time she really should get the job done. Safe to say I won’t be going too big on this, once bitten….

  67. Ellis 9 years ago

    CALLING ALL CRICKET FANS

I’m a massive fan but really really stuck on NZ vs Eng my heart say england at 13/8 with value on side but my head says the 1/2 on form NZ team

    Help/ideas ?

  68. Harry 9 years ago

Ellis you’re definitely thinking with your heart not your head. I don’t even think it will be close to be honest. What’s your thinking behind England having a chance?

  69. Ellis 9 years ago

    Harry,

I have no solid reasoning I’m like you , any other day Id be on NZ

I just think Morgan is under so much pressure to perform we have to get a performance out of them tonight. Surely Morgan, Ali and various others can’t keep going scoring such low totals?

And although I do think zealand are the form horses going into the tournament behind australia I still think it’s a temperamental team which could implode with such attacking players such as McCullum, we seen very slight signs against Scotland

    • JP 9 years ago

Ellis i agree with you. England are a quality team and cannot keep on performing badly. Even i belive they will come through this test against new zealand. England have a soild and highly experienced bowling line up so its just a matter of their very deep batting line up clicking.

  70. V P 9 years ago

Only thing that could put you off is New Zealand’s collapse in the chase against Scotland.

  71. honda 9 years ago

Agree with harry. Wake up and probs watch the last part of the match. Only good thing for england v auzzies was taylor nearly getting a century

  72. Harry 9 years ago

Brian, as confident as possible in a 2-way match. Anything can happen on the day but I don’t see a compelling argument anywhere other than blind faith for England to win.

  73. Ellis 9 years ago

    Ad,

If Karlovic can cross the line it’s been a very profitable day and I was very pleased to see you CSN tip drop in as I didn’t have the guts to back it after kvitova did me so proud yesterday! (I don’t always have chance to comment as I’m at work a
    lot of the time)

I’m considering a mini lump on Sousa at 1/2 ….. I think Rola got away with it a bit yesterday and I also think Sousa is another one who is effective behind his first serve (as you can tell I’m a big fan of people with a high first serve conversion percentage)

    • Ad 9 years ago

Good luck whatever you go for mate. Rolas also good behind serve even he’s on form…Karlovic should have the experience and be able to deliver under pressure in the end, but we shall see.

Muguruza and CSN somewhat made up for the disappointment that was Venus Williams. Might stick to the rolling acca for a while if it goes well…these women are crazy! Wozniaki has stepped it up here now but 4 double faults to get broken then an open court miss to get broken again. The mind boggles! Needless to say I won’t be putting any women in my rolling acca unless I get really desperate!

  74. Ellis 9 years ago

    Harry,

Think I’m just trying to talk myself out of it because 1/2 in the context is such a good price. I’ll be doing New Zealand!

What’s your view on the outright market as I have heavily lumped on australia. Don’t think there is a weak aspect of there team

  75. Ad 9 years ago

4-1 cornet to beat Wozniaki. If she drops the first set I’ll be on again at 10/1 or whatever it goes out to. Well in with a shout here.

  76. Ad 9 years ago

Apparently I spoke way too soon. How foolish of me not to predict that Cornet, a professional, top 20 tennis player, would serve 4 double faults in her first 5 service points to go a break down at the start of the second set. How is that even possibl?! Im nowhere near as good and have pretty poor levels of concentration and I’ve never once come close to doing that in a match!

  77. Harry 9 years ago

Ellis I can’t really see past aussies for outright but don’t think they’ve ever been great value considering the amount of quality in other teams on their day. Can never write off Sri Lanka, SA and India for example as on their day they can all be devastating. Only team I’ve put a bit on is NZ each way because they play all their games at home until the final which should help. With regards to your first point about they can’t keep scoring low totals, the same argument could have been had with man United last season for example, or the England football team at any major finals in the past 15 years. If you were a neutral and looking at form, and our recent record in ODI’s and our record in that part of the world, I don’t think you’d give England much of a chance. I can see trent Boult tearing through our top order in mitch Johnson style.

VP, I think NZ took Scotlands attack too lightly and didn’t show them enough respect, more complacency than collapsing in my opinion. I can’t see them doing the same with us as theyll know a lot more about our attack and will be as up for it as the aussies were if they want to be seen as serious contenders and not under dogs, like they were against Sri Lanka.

JP, on any other day I’d love you to be right, I’m just going with my head and can’t honestly back Morgan & co to get the better of the NZ attack based on current form.

  78. OriaZ 9 years ago

Ad, I’m on your on your bank-builder acca but threw in Real Madrid DNB as well (gets it closer to 1/1)…

  79. Ellis 9 years ago

Harry I will be on Zealand pal and I got good value 11/4 on AUS four months ago

  80. James 9 years ago

Bautista Agut v Pospisil odds are very interesting. I think Pospisil is very long at 6/4. Thoughts?

    • Ad 9 years ago

James- pospisil was pretty awful for a set and a half against Haase. I’ve got Bautists Agut winning this one. Pospisil backhand is a real weakness when targeted by a clever, steady player.

11/4 is good value, I never really had a look that far in advance to be honest. Only out rights I tipped were kane Williamson and dale steyn. Was hoping steyn would have got a couple more against Zimbabwe but he’s still got time against a few more of the minnows

  82. Ellis 9 years ago

Nice one Harry! I’ll have to start sharing my tips with you I’ve had a few decent wins already like machan top Scottish batsman in that match 7/2

  83. Harry 9 years ago

Good shout, he looked composed and fearless. I tipped Ireland to beat windies at 4/1 on my twitter and also backed them at 9/2 on here and twitter to reach the quarter finals, which is now a best 11/8. Always worth posting what you’re on if there’s any reasoning behind it mate

    Cricket tonight:
Masakadsa or taylor to get the most zimbabwe runs at 11/10.

Masakadsa batting at 3 is in good form after hittting a century in their last warm up game and 80 against south africa.

Taylor is a classy player and bats at 4. He is also in good form and usually in the runs.

  85. paul 9 years ago

Small dabble on uae under 220 runs. 5/6

    Lets see

  86. Harry 9 years ago

Zimbabwe to bowl first, GL to all on this game

  87. realwalker 9 years ago

Thought id play safe and took judd trump minus 1.5 in an 8fold, as usual its the last leg that looks to have killed me, need 3 in a row from him here, drives me crazy how many times 1 leg lets me down.

  88. paul 9 years ago

So suddenly the lowest ranked team in cricket who only got 116 the last time v Zimbabwe are playing like Australia.

This is what happens. Maybe I need to do the spread 230 to 260 as well for fear

  89. realwalker 9 years ago

2 down 1 to go, heres hoping.

  90. Harry 9 years ago

Paul I wouldn’t panic yet, they’ve had a few lucky escapes. Wouldn’t be surprised if they collapsed. At least they’ve had no 6’s anyway

  91. Jordan 9 years ago

Carmelo Anthony will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery. Bet against the Knicks every game.

Anyone fancy Makarova to beat Halep?
She just did so 2-0 in Melbourne of course, and the only thing really putting me off is the fact she didn’t look very impressive in the few games I saw her play against Diyas today. Halep though was pretty unconvincing against Pironkova, and If Pironkova was more solid herself she could have won. So in conclusion, it’s two players who weren’t that impressive up against each other. Makarova has the game to beat Halep on this surface and as she also has the better odds, I’m tempted to risk her @ 9/5.

    • sonnyboy 9 years ago

The odds on Maka appear seductive, and the tipsters like it, but I’m going to go against the flow and back Halep.

  100. paul 9 years ago

Yeah attila but theyr playing real well. Will have 5 players scoring over 20 before long. England cant do that. I thought they were the leichenstein of cricket

  101. V P 9 years ago

    Won’t be too far of 260 I don’t think

  102. paul 9 years ago

Yeah vp ive 40 squid on it to return 100 it will sail in. Zimbabwe are sht

  103. Harry 9 years ago

Can’t believe how well UAE are looking after their shakey start. Hoping for a quick wicket or 2!

  104. V P 9 years ago

Bowled well against South Africa at the beginning and let that slip as well

  105. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

    Ad

    Muguruza..Playing very well.
    Makarova..pleased you mentioned her.

    5.5/1 bet365

  106. Harry 9 years ago

VP they looked very good at the start against SA but their middle order is slightly better than UAE, hoping for a quick collapse now only 3 left

  107. V P 9 years ago

Are you talking about South Africa when you say their middle order is slightly better than the UAE because that’s a big under exaggeration

  108. Harry 9 years ago

Yes I was and I know I meant it to be. They’ve been very good though, still going at it too, think they’ve hit four 6’s

  109. V P 9 years ago

UAEs lower order hitting has been quality

  110. Attila 9 years ago

What the hell is Ferrer playing at?!

  111. V P 9 years ago

Should win but 285 is a very decent total

  112. V P 9 years ago

5 6s could be a reach is Mazakadsa doesn’t get going as well

  113. paul 9 years ago

260 sailed in for 100 now a tenner had on uae at 7/1 ill go to sleep in let it run. Though I was right to cash out unders for once

  114. paul 9 years ago

Dont think zimbabwe will get 286

    Well done uae.

  115. V P 9 years ago

I wouldn’t write them off pitch must be good and they have Mazakadsa and Taylor who are quality.

  116. the wet lettuce 9 years ago

Got 3/1 UAE medium stake..surely a good chance.

  117. V P 9 years ago

It does have a good chance but Zimbabwe have a good batting line up and 285 is gettable. They got 262 against South Africa

  118. Harry 9 years ago

Highest first 15 overs – Bangladesh

Team to score most 6′s – Zimbabwe

    Double 1.34 Paddy Power
