Feb 18: Jordan’s Sports Tips & Chat

Jordans_SportsTips

THE NBA regular season resumes tonight after a short hiatus and two of the best in East and West are in action.

San Antonio Spurs travel to LA Clippers, fellow table-toppers Cleveland Cavs host Chicago Bulls and the night’s other game is a closely-matched battle of Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards.

The Welsh Open snooker reaches the fourth-round stage and there’s some tasty ties including Marco Fu against Neil Robertson and Mark Selby v Mark Williams.

There’s also plenty of ATP tennis from Rio, Marseille and Delray Beach as well as week three of the Premier League darts which is always worth a watch.

As for the NBA action, Jordan says: NBA is back but a difficult card in my opinion. You can almost guarantee that DeAndre Jordan will be at the free throw line at least 20 times tonight if the Spurs are struggling in LA. Popovic loves the hack strategy as he knows he’s not breaking the rules and doesn’t care how his team wins, just that they win. Chris Paul and LeMarcus Aldridge were the stand out players when these two met in December in Texas, with the Spurs winning by 8. That was when the Clippers had Griffin. I’m with the Spurs tonight, but as they’re on b2b (in LA) I wouldn’t go too mad.

The Cavs should win in Cleveland tonight against a Butlerless Bulls. Revenge is due after the Cavs lost at home in January against Chicago in what I believe was Lue’ first game in charge. Since then the Cavs have only lost at home to the Celtics by 1, but they have managed to beat the Spurs in that home span.

The NBA is back! That felt like a long week.

I’ve taken a look at the schedule over the next few days and spotted something worth pointing out…

    18/02 – Utah Jazz @ Washington Wizards.
    19/02 – Detroit Pistons @ Washington Wizards
    20/02 – Washington Wizards @ Miami Heat.

A very rare triple back to back scenario for the Wizards, due to a postponed game earlier in the season.

Definitely worth keeping an eye on this.

    Premier League Darts week 3

    Singles:

Van Gerwen vs Lewis, double result Van Gerwen (6 legs) – Van Gerwen 6/5 **NAP**

Van Gerwen vs Lewis, highest checkout score over 120.5 5/6

Van Gerwen vs Lewis, first break of throw Van Gerwen 5/6

Van Gerwen vs Lewis, Van Gerwen over 4.5 180’s 11/8

Anderson vs Taylor, Anderson draw no bet 5/6

    Double:

Wright vs Wade, double chance Wright
Chisnall vs Smith, double chance Chisnall

    10/11 **NB**

The reason Van Gerwen lost against wade in week one was his finishing, only four of seventeen doubles (24%) were taken out. Since then he really has addressed it finishing on 70% against Anderson last week and 75% against Gurney in the European tour final on Sunday. If he puts in his usual display of power scoring against Lewis tonight, who admittedly has been playing brilliantly recently, then he should be able to pull clear after six legs and get over the finishing line first. Also, that recent level of finishing should give him a great chance of getting the first break of throw.

Against Anderson last week MVG hit ten 140’s and six 180’s whilst against Gurney on sunday five 140’s and six 180’s. I think there is a feeling that when he is in an important match or faces any of the big names generally his 180 output is high so I do think he will breach his maximum line tonight. En route to the final on Sunday some of MVG’s finishing was outstanding. He nailed a 148 against Chisnall in the quarter, a 170 against King in the semi and a 152 against Gurney in the final! The highest checkout score line is set at 120.5 which is very achievable for both to surpass.

Smith has not adapted to the Premier league in the same way Huybrechts did last year. Up to now his power scoring, especially the maximums has been limited so he has struggled to make an impact. Chisnall has posted two decent averages of 101 and 98 against Thornton and Lewis respectively and tonight he should get a draw from Smith at the very least.

Wright changed his darts last week so there were a lot of sub ton visits and only two maximums meaning he finished on a poor 88 average. He just fell over the line but did state he would revert back to his old darts for week three. Wade can be very capable on his day as winessed in week one with his high scoring and excellent finishing. In truth it could go either way but I think Wright may just edge it so the double chance will allow for insurance in the event of a draw.

Taylor was excellent last week but what worries me is his consistancy. You never know what taylor to expect nowadays. With Anderson you will always get a high volume of 140’s with the possibility of additional maximums thrown in. For that reason Im willing to back Anderson on draw no bet tonight as he looks to make a statement to reinforce his standing as c world champion.

I wish I had a way to be notified of your tips hunter. CSKA were down 2 but quickly jumped into a 12 point lead to start the 2nd quarter and it was all downhill from there.

To clarify, I saw the tip late. Score was 19-17 Astana. I got on -6.5 CSKA.

The -12.5 still won thanks to a last second putback to end the half :)

Very difficult card tonight. I’m with Raoul and leaning towards the Jazz but you never know with those damn Wizards.

      Double @ 19/20 – 1 point:
      – Clippers/Spurs over 199.5
      – Jazz +7.5

Poor day for the tennis as BOGDAN & RUBIN missed so many chances to break especially Bogdan who if she played to about 70% of her capability would have won her match in two sets but her serving was so poor it was unbelievable
Even though it was a bad day it was only a small loss as the double stake tip on PETRA MARTIC won and as I said she should have been favourite but again the bookies slip up

4 tournament outrights were put up at the start of the week and two are still in, DAVID FERRER 5/1 in Rio and ADRIAN MANNARINO 33/1 at Delray Beach are both in the semifinals

Just wanted to ask on here quickly as I use to bet on NBA a while ago with Jordan and Huggy so know one of you or someone else will know the answer. Looking at alternate handicaps on Coral for the time being and they are offering the same price of 1/2 on the SA Spurs to win as they are for a small handicap of 0.5. Just wanting to double check if this will be a positive handicap, so if it was a tie then the bet would win?

    • Profile photo of shauncpfc
      shauncpfc 10 months ago

And I know that it goes to extra time in case of a draw but is it possible to remain tied after extra time? Just seems a pointless handicap boost if it makes no difference. Cheers

I got on your Mannarino tip John (and Tomic……..) but missed the others as the tournaments had started when I saw your post. Enjoying your tennis tips this week – Rubin looked good and it was much closer than the odds (and score) suggested. Fingers crossed as we get to the business end and it will be a real test for him tomorrow against Dimitrov – the bookies think so too…..

    ingles:

Van Gerwen vs Lewis, double result Van Gerwen (6 legs) – Van Gerwen 6/5 **NAP** LOST

Van Gerwen vs Lewis, highest checkout score over 120.5 5/6 LOST

Van Gerwen vs Lewis, first break of throw Van Gerwen 5/6 WON

Van Gerwen vs Lewis, Van Gerwen over 4.5 180’s 11/8 WON

Anderson vs Taylor, Anderson draw no bet 5/6 LOST

    Double:

Wright vs Wade, double chance Wright
Chisnall vs Smith, double chance Chisnall

    10/11 **NB** WON

Not the worst day but was so close to being better. MVG threw his dart in the wrong bed for a 81 checkout and conceeded the crucial leg to lead after six whilst Lewis wired the bull on a 164 to just miss out on the highest checkout score. Im happy the NB landed with the double chances for Wright and Chisnall on a day where the first draw of 2016 occured.
