I IDENTIFIED my Sunday Super Single quite early and was happy to stick with Guingamp despite a poor record at Metz.
Form was the winner with this selection and on a day of quite a few surprises I was pleased it landed comfortably.
There was a lot of talk on the site about the likes of Atletico Madrid, Lyon and Villarreal being big prices but bookies aren't daft. They know any team going away from home can get it tough and they can suck you in with prices over or around evens.
The results I didn't expect at all though included draws for Roma, Torino and Juventus while Anderlecht and Bruges will have let a lot of people down.
Monday's big game is Preston v Man Utd in the FA Cup and I've posted a separate preview. Eibar tackle Elche in La Liga and there are lower-league games including Brest-Nimes, Catania-Crotone and Jong Ajax-Roda.
I've studied all of these matches and I'm not much closer to picking a Super Single. Nimes have won four out of five and are on a decent run but Brest remain unbeaten at home so a draw is possible.
The Eibar-Elche game looks so tough to call with the consensus on Elche not to lose but if this was a game on a busy night I wouldn't bet on it – so why do it on a quiet one?
Catania-Crotone is also difficult to work out and the only bet I'm confident about is over two goals at Jong Ajax. Their 23 games have totalled 87 goals while Roda have netted 45 goals in 24 matches. Over 2.5 goals pays a best 8-15 at 888sport and of course that's not big enough for a Super Single.
I've got Tuesday's Daily Record column to write then I'll have another look at tonight's games before deciding whether or not to put something up.

I’ve come to the conclusion I should never bet on Sunday’s. I find myself winning a decent amount on Saturday and then losing it on a Sunday. Extremely frustrating.

@Craigyboy. Yeah, Sunday is a bad betting day in general I feel. Possibly because the games that play on a Sunday are the clashes moved for TV reasons and hence likely to involve big teams against decent opposition where they are more vulnerable to drop points e.g. Lyon away, Madrid away to Celta Vigo. On Saturday’s I am happy to bet on results but on Sunday I think I will try and stick with goals bets wherever possible.

Tipped hapoel herzilta draw no bet on friday and game was called off. Looks like the game could be played today but no markets up yet. Dont think it will be easy though but they always find that extra gear to nick a win and can see a 1-2 away win which il also put a couple of bob on for interest. OMG!!! Some of the comments are hilarious, Utd playing to force a draw away in the FA Cup since 1990 to make more money. I think it might be that teams up their game a lot when playing Utd, especially if they have a chance to beat them at their own stadium, which is what makes the FA cup so special, it’s been happening for a lot longer than 1990;). I can catogorically say that in Fergies era, utd would have never played for a draw in an FA Cup game away from home, now Champions league matches are different kettle of fish altogether.
I do think Utd will be too strong for Preston tonight, it’ll be a tough game but I feel Utd will win by 1 and probably only goals in the second half.

Have to agree with ya maccthered we are playing awful but no doubt the ability is there its just not being put together in working order. Rvp isnt much of a loss on current form. I can see a tight 0-1 united away win. Our main problem is were not using the space on the field enough. Were playing very tight and alot of fans are thinking wilson should probably be given a go with rooney as falcaos not living up to the tag either. Cant slate the back line too much as for all the lack of experience there is at the back were still holding together and gaining results somehow.

I see Catania has been tipped here, but they are priced at around 7/10. This is low for a team whose is in 19th position of the table. I think the main reason why Catania has been priced so low is their home form. Going by the home matches only, they sit 5th in the table with 7-4-2 W-D-L. BTW, Crotone’s away statistics is 2-2-8. Catania has scored 2+ goals in 9/12 of their last home matches. Crotone, however, does not concede much in away matches. In their last 12 away matches, they have lost only once by 2+ goals. No high or medium stake bet for me in this game.
Speculative bet for small stake: Catania to win by 1 goal (1-0 or 2-1) at 5/2 since Catania is likely to win, and Crotone rarely looses by more than 1 goal.
Eiba vs Elche is a tough one to grind out. It requires disregarding the usual form book. I am on Elche who are currently sitting 1 point above the relegation door. Elche would definitely fancy winning this game backed up by the huge 2-0 win in the last round away at Rayo.

Not much on today but have a day off and have been having a look at Eibar Elche game. Suggestions are that this will be an open game. Elche average 3 goals (scored and conceded) in their away games and Eibar average 3.10 goals (scored and conceded) in their home games. Both teams can score and concede and have been on poorish runs so this should be an open game with hopefully a few goals as both teams should feel that they can end their poorish run in this game.
Bet365 have over 2.5 goals and btts at odds of 2/1 (3.00) which I think is great value. Even over 2.5 goals is good value, but I am taking a bit of an educated risk.

robbo, harpreet is annoying to some and I’ve told him that but does he deserve to be banned – probably not. Most of the problems are caused by over-reactions to him and people should just ignore if they don’t like him. No offence Mr F but I’ve been following your site for a while now and there is too many personality clashes which takes up a lot of space and people complain about it, I don’t know if it’s doable but it might be an idea to have a section for Harpeet and his follower’s, so to speak, and one where people can post their tips without arguing with or complaining about Harpeet, it just seems like you spend a lot of your time trying to keep the peace or banning people lol, sorry it’s not funny, but is it not a coincidence that when Harpeet was banned, for a while, there was no bickering, just a thought
