THE Super Single got bck on track with West Ham but slipped with Stoke but I'll be hoping to land one on Saturday.

Last week just two of the nine teams on the shortlist won but it was dominated by aways on a tough card. In the end I picked Oxford – who didn't feature – and they conceded a late equaliser at Bristol Rovers.

This weekend's card doesn't look much easier with the FA Cup dominating proceedings. I've got Cardiff and Hull to win ties but much will depend on the strength of team they're fielding against Wigan and Brighton respectively.

Same goes for Sunderland v Southampton and Man City v Chelsea. So here is my shortlist of 10 and let me know what you think.

Fans of clubs featured are especially welcome to comment on my picks and remember this is my first glance at the coupon and teams are picked going by form not team news and head to heads.

Super Single shortlist

CARDIFF v Wigan

Brighton v HULL

SHEFF WED v Charlton

Man City v CHELSEA

Sunderland v SOUTHAMPTON

Bournemouth v BURNLEY

PORTSMOUTH v Wimbledon

St Mirren v ABERDEEN

Forfar v DUNFERMLINE

Morton v COWDENBEATH

Where’s my hibs Paul? :) not even with counterfeit money! Although the positive news for hibs fans is our captain liam craig is suspended! :)

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Sparky, on current form I can’t take Hibs but Aberdeen looks a good one – but might not get evens.

    • Sparky 10 years ago

Aberdeen been well backed Paul u won’t get evens now.

From that list I’d take southampton. Not sure how serious sunderland will take it given their plight in the league and a trip to Wembley not that far away.

I’d also oppose u and take morton over cowdenbeath but that would be a hunch that sooner or later shields will get them to click there more than anything.

Disappointed with stoke outcome tonight I backed stoke at the weekend and had to back them again because they were such a big price! In the end I think the weather worked against us because it was so severe if it had just been a standard gale I reckon we’d of won! Lol!

  2. Davie-S 10 years ago

I think you could pick your four draws from that list, some tight games i wouldn’t like to call…

  3. Bob H 10 years ago

There’s quite a few always on the list …Spurs weren’t considered for Wednesday SS because they were away to Newcastle?

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Bob H, no I didn’t say that. I said I took Stoke ahead of Spurs because they were at home. If you read my Wednesday top tips post it will be clear.

  4. Ted 19 10 years ago

    Sheffield Wednesday for me Paul.

  5. Smfc Mark 10 years ago

St Mirren fan here. We’re a bit of a shambles just now, looks like players have lost faith in Danny Lennon. Aberdeen will beat us comfortably.

  6. Scott 10 years ago

I probably would leave Southampton to be honest. We have been a different team in the cups so far this season and are unbeaten in the 3 games we’ve played against Southampton so far (Drew twice in the league and beat them in the capital one cup), although they probably should have beat us in the league after being 2-0 up in the first half.

  7. Greg Browning 10 years ago

Cowdenbeath to beat Morton Mr F? Morton have made some useful signings and this is a 6 pointer for them! Can see them getting a much needed win here with a draw at worst!

  8. Alan 10 years ago

I like Ross county 10/3 draw no bet Will be good price also. Anyone looking for a super single for Sunday – Valencia 5/2 but not for too much longer I wouldn’t think.

  9. Steve The Pirate 10 years ago

Garrr, I not be liking many of the choices there. Sheff Wed looks decent, while I expect Aberdeen to take care of St Mirren, but they be well below evens.

A couple of spots from the crows nest- Motherwell at home to Thistle are 11/12, which looks staggering value. Also 11/12 are Coventry, they be hosting Bradford, who are getting washed out to sea on current form. Meanwhile Watford are performing much better recently and will fancy their chances of beating Middlesborough, who seem distinctly average just now.

Just noticed this game be on the Sunday, but I’m mentioning them anyways, Nottingham Forest have been on great form to and are priced around 13/10 away to Sheff United, a team struggling in the league below them.

  10. since1902 10 years ago

Motherwell minus 1 v Partick on sat is decent bet at 11/5 for a SS. I’m sure well hammered partick recently.

  11. JKC 10 years ago

I’m trying too pick 4 draws the last 3 months and just can’t pick them .. Any1 have any teams that they think will draw over the weekend ??

  12. maxclover 10 years ago

Southhampton, Southhampton, Southhampton, Southhampton annnnd Southhampton

    • Phil 10 years ago

Why Southampton ?? Sunderland been very good at home in the cups this season

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Phil, depends if Sunderland put out a full team. They need league points more than Southampton do. With every FA Cup tie team news will be key.

    • Phil 10 years ago

looks like being a near full strength 11 for Sunderland with Giaccherini and Scocco getting starts and after last nights postponement its probably gonna be even stronger.

  13. robert miller 10 years ago

strong notion on MORTON Paul…… good point away to Falkirk last week and I keep expecting them to kick on with Shiels in charge………. I realise Cowden have won their last 2……….

  14. phil 72 10 years ago

Not sure about a lot of those picks MR F
Usually one top team gets beat by the underdogs and it could be cardiff
Iwill be doing alot of double chance on the cup games backing the outsiders still get about 7/10
The only one I really like is BURNLEY

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

phil 72, it’s just a shortlist from a difficult card. I’ve said the FA Cup games will depend on team news. Southampton are making noises about fancying a tilt at the FA Cup while Sunderland shouldn’t be too bothered so that might be a good one.

  15. phil 72 10 years ago

COVENTRY looks good to me aswell STEVE

  16. robbo 10 years ago

Sheff weds for me, Charlton are a poor poor side, new owner bringing in players from abroad that chris Powell is being forced to play after selling their best two players to Brighton and Bournemouth in the transfer window

  17. Chappers 10 years ago

Very tough card for Saturday, extremely low stakes would be my advise looking at that list.

  18. alva glen 10 years ago

QOS look value at home v Dundee 9/5.Preston to beat Orient 5/4.Aberdeen are a best 3/4 so will stick them in my acca.

  19. Steve 10 years ago

I’m going for Wigan and Brighton upset in FA cup as a double for me 7/1 bet365 I fancy notts forest as my SS 13/10 at sheff utd

  20. craigyboy 10 years ago

On first skim through the oddschecker list my picks would be:

    IPSWICH v Blackpool
    MK DONS v Oldham
    PRESTON v Leyton Orient
    SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v Charlton

Some very tough games to call this weekend. Sheffield Wednesday look great odds for a home tie against a poor Charlton team…With FA Cup though you just never know.

  21. Steve 10 years ago

My Saturday SS is port vale away at Shrewsbury 13/8 bet365, putting them in a double too with Preston home to woeful Leyton orient 5/1 bet365

  22. Tony 10 years ago

People remember the weather is shocking up an down the country. In my opinion it will give us alot of unexpected results.

  23. Tony 10 years ago

Only 2 a would maybe consider on this list is sheff wed, aberdeen

  24. Bam 10 years ago

    Aberdeen r burnley

  25. slasherjack 10 years ago

Im a Man City fan and i wouldnt bet on our match until you see what team both clubs will be putting out. If we have Yaya and Fernandiho in midfield i would back us to beat anyone at home including Barca.

  26. Troy 10 years ago

Mr F – We need an ‘oor man in Germany’ and a ‘oor an in Holland’………The bookies are extremely cautious on the btts and win market in these countries but reasonably on the win only market! Evidently there must be more goals in these leagues but maybe you should look abroad for a SUPER SINGLE whilst the weather is like this in the UK!

    Port Vale away to Shrewsbury
    or
    Millwall at home to Bolton
    or
    Burnley away to Bournemouth
    or
    Waalwijk at home to NEC

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Troy, absolutely – the more the better. And yes I will have a look at the European card before making my pick.

  27. Hughie 10 years ago

Paul not sure about Cowdenbeath although they are doing well lately. Morton have also picked up recently .
This is a crunch game for Morton and and a defeat will almost kill chances of staying up for that reason my gut feeling is at very least a draw for Morton although I will be going for a home win
This is just my feeling and not a tip good luck all with your bets

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Hughie, I’m not sure about Cowdenbeath either – it’s just a list. Put up for a bit of debate more than anything and good to hear opinions.

  28. John Boy 10 years ago

Cardiff at best are a Championship side who Wigan would like to swap leagues with. Think Wigan will want to prove a point in this match.
    X2 Wigan.

  29. Troy 10 years ago

Paul – Scrub Waalwijk from that list. Up to six players out injured.

  30. MiniDuffman 10 years ago

My last comment didn’t post for some reason.

Not writing it all out again, but Alfreton Town look a good shout on Saturday – Bet365 go 11/8 for the win. I’ll be taking the Win and BTTS at coral at 7/2.

  31. lee cunliffe 10 years ago

I just finished my weekend predictions, Sheff Wed, Burnley and Aberdeen match up with the list, especially like Aberdeen but playing away from home and being the early game could be off putting. Birmingham 5/4 at home to Huddersfield, Oxford home to Mansfield evs and Lincoln home to Kidderminster 6/4 are 3 that stand out for me

  32. lee cunliffe 10 years ago

a match result & bts treble that looks interesting

    Luton win BTS vs Hereford
    Nuneaton win bts vs Hyde
    Gateshead win BTS vs Woking

    pays 33/1

  33. robert miller 10 years ago

walked into Hills to take the coupon price 13/10 on MORTON and said to the guy any price change??? told now EVENS…. ABOUT TURN!!!!!!!!

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Robert, that’s early and by no means are Morton a banker. Cowdenbeath are capable of winning there.

  34. murph 10 years ago

I like Dunfirmline at Forfar. In fact I reckon on btts as well.. Goals are common in this league.

  35. Sham 10 years ago

Preston to beat leyton orient 11/10 is worth looking at, orient have lost ther last three games and Preston appear to be improving at home.

  36. Garath 10 years ago

The games at or above evens I’m on this weekend are –
    Sheff wed 1/1
    Doncaster 5/4
    Burnley 5/4
    Millwall 11/8
    Preston 6/5

So two from your list at the top, I have taken Cardiff but they were only 10/11

  37. John Bryan 10 years ago

Gotta be Burnley on their roll.

  38. Jman 10 years ago

Preston are 5/4 at home to the shocking Orient, phenomenal price!

  39. Jman 10 years ago

That’s with Hills, fire in before the inevitable cut.

  40. Sean 10 years ago

Litle surprised you have Southampton hilighted as a super single choice away to Sunderland Mr F,i was thinking the reverse and these are my reasons:
Sunderland have already proven themselves in cup games this season having knocked Mn utd and Chelsea out of the capital one cup,its true that the saints are unbeaten in 8 all comps but when you see the only teams they beat on that run are hull, fulham and west brom in the lg and yeovil and burnley in cup games you can see why they have a run going. Before sunderlands latest defeat against hull which can be put down to the fact that wes brown got himself sent off in the 4th minute they had only lost once in 13 games all comps, like i said beating chelsea and united in the cups and winning away to everton and newcastle in the league.
Last meeting between the two was a 2-2 draw but the saints took a 2-0 lead in that game but sunderland showed great fighting spirit to come back and level the game its that kind of spirit which is needed in cup games,Southampton also played midweek giving sunderland an extra 3 dys to prepare for this game which is an early kick off 12.45 saturday which may prove significant, these are the reasons i think Sunderland are a great price worth backing at 23/10 or taking the sunderland draw no bet at 11/8 which is stilla lot better than the odds for a southampton win @ 6/5.

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Sean, it’s just a shortlist – anyway have already said it depends on team news. Will Sunderland play a full-strength side?

  41. Derek Swanson 10 years ago

I would say Aberdeen look the best out that lot but think you ll struggle to get Evs or better , also like the look of Southampton , agree with alot of comments over Ciwdenbeath , can see Morton winning this one , I think Cowdenbeaths mentality will be a point is good and that’s a dangerous mindset to go into a game with .

  42. Baldy45 10 years ago

Motherwell look an outstanding bet at 5/6 at home to Thistle. The Well players have had a nice break so should be fresh and injury free to take on a struggling Thistle side. Well destroyed them 5-1 at Firhill already, so this looks a home banker to me. Super Single ??

  43. Ritchie 10 years ago

Wolves -1 11/8 & Sundays SS Sturridge to score for Liverpool 2/1 G`luck.

  44. craigyboy 10 years ago

Haven’t hit this for a couple of weeks.

    Wolves over 1.5 team goals

    Ipswich over 1.5 team goals
Sheff Wed over 1.5 team goals

    returns 9/1 on Bet 365
