IT was one winner and one loser last night so not too bad.

I strongly fancied Man City at Bournemouth but while they won the goals line fell short. Greg was similarly beaten for his nap but well done to Jordan whose 10pts on City to score 2+ was a winner.

My Daily Double landed at 13-10 thanks to on-form Eibar crushing Granada and Hannover hitting back to beat Bochum.

There's a big card to look at tonight with the PSG v Barcelona and Benfica v Dortmund in the Champions League and loads of games in the Championship, League One and League Two plus two Scottish Cup replays.

I've posted a separate Champions League preview and added tips after checking latest team news and the RFO for stats and form. My treble is an all-Championship one and there should be home wins for Brighton, Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday.

My Super Single is Mansfield, seven wins in eight, at home to struggling Accrington. William Hill's 11-10 looks big and they're also tipped to score 2+ by Desmond.

Aye Mr F, totally agree with ya and can’t see past it in terms of value. With Accy being amongst the worse travellers in the league and scoring the fewest goals. I’m more than happy with backing Mansfield at odds against. Benjamin Waterman is worth a small stake at an overpriced 9/2 at 365, has 4 in last 3 victories for Mansfield and is worth a couple of quid on anytime Goalscorer market.

Do you mean Benjamin Whiteman who’s scored 5 goals is he a new player as 5 goals a season not much

    • kyle b 7 years ago

Yeah that’s the one. Has 5 goals in 7 games and 4 in his last 3 appearances as mentioned. Only a young lad, seems to have a good eye for goal from midfield. Thought it was a nice price given other bookmakers have him priced around the 2/1 mark

Got lucky last night but that’s why we gamble. My 10 points on City to score twice was a placed by a dyslexic dwarf, it wasn’t big nor clever. Today I’m focusing on the Champions League after a long break where I think the two teams hold excellent value to grab a goal.

Both Benfica and PSG played Friday so they have a day’s rest over Dortmund and Barcelona (who both played away from home on Saturday).

Barca despite have never kept a clean sheet in Paris and have leaked a few goals to opponents recently, conceding in four of their last six against Atletico in both cup games. They also conceded away from home in the groups against Monchegladbach, and three against City, so they can be broken down. Especially against PSG who have only failed to score once at home this season against Marseille, and if you look at stats from that game, Marseille had 30% possession and zero attempts at goal. We all know Dortmund can concede against most each week, including their 2-1 loss to the basement boys yesterday which was Darmstadt’s first win since October. Dortmund have conceded in four of six group games and on the road against Sporting and Real Madrid in the groups. They also face a national giant who have scored in all of their home games this season in Benfica.

Preston face a Birmingham side who have been poor on the road and haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home since September. Preston are off the back of an impressive win at home against Brentford and are unbeaten in 7 of their last 8 at home. Birmingham are missing a few players but will be rested slightly after their 3-0 loss last Friday evening.

Morning Guys, it is your main man Max here. I like the Mansfield tip they are popular across the betting sites, but for me I am going to split my NAP stakes on 3 BTTS. It is Valentines and I am in Rome with my missus who has just finished her shoot, so I wont be around for much of the day.

PSG have a cracking record at home and have a goal threat in Cavani. Barcelona speak for themselves with the power of MSN. The BTTS is back able as a single. In the Championship, I can see both teams scoring at the Cottage and at Norwich. I will do them both as singles and as a 11/5 Double

    Max’s tips

    PSG – Barca BTTS 7/10 (10PTS)

    Fulham – Forest BTTS 4/6 (4PTS)
    Norwich – Newcastle BTTS 5/6 (4PTS)
    (Double pays 11/5)

    Messi to score 5/4 (2PTS)

Poor day yesterday with my on site tips which saw an 8.5 point loss. I turned a small profit from a couple of bets that I never posted so if you fancy one of today’s tips but see the stake and think I’m chasing a loss and that puts you off, I can assure you it’s not the case. The reason for posting it today is I’ve now won 5 days in a row with it and have a bit of confidence to tip it to other people. Of course that doesn’t guarantee its a winner but nothing is ever a dead cert.

    MANSFIELD 21/120.

Summary: I’ve been backing and banging on about Evans and ‘new boys recruited’ for awhile now, happy to see Mr F has selected them, thus I’m not going to repeat what I’ve been saying these last few weeks!

    MORECAMBE DNB 11/10.

Summary: The home are somewhat resurgent! Now unbeaten in 5, this includes credible draws at highflying Doncaster and Carlisle, and a win at the O’s ( I backed them 1.5 TGS instead of the win) and solid performances and wins on home soil against County and Cambridge! Opponents Barnet are in poor form under December instalment, Eames…a winless streak of 5 games include 3 defeats and 2 draws! Their stats suggest an away goal but their current form and Morecambe’s tightening of defence maybe not! Personally believe the DNB offers excellent value.

Good luck all with bets today ?

BURY VS. MILTON KEYNES DONS (19.45 KO):

With just 1 defeat in 5 and sitting a point from the temporary ‘safety’ zone, it seems The Mighty Shakers have offered up a glimmer of hope.

Manager Brass set up Bury’s most defensive line-up in a long time and by hook or by crook the tactic paid dividends with a narrow but much needed 1-0 win on Saturday.

For once, we have no additional injuries and flying winger Danny Mayor is clear of the stomach illness which has kept him presumably pebble-dashing the Gigg Lane toilets in recent weeks.

Tonight’s visitors MK Dons have put their dire December to bed with a pretty emphatic start to 2017 but I’m heartened to hear that Walsh and Potter are both suspended whilst Wooton and skipper Lewington are out injured.

Teenage full-back Ben Tillney is set to stand in and that could play to our attacking strengths with the expetience of Vaughan, Pope and hopefully Mayor looking to exploit defensive naivety.

Aside from September’s (when we were good ?) 1-3 away win, MK Dons hold the hoodo over us but worth noting that BTTS has registered in 6 of the last 7 H2Hs.

Really hoping to see Tutte start for us though it’s likely he’ll not last the 90 and give way to Burgess’ fresh legs in the second half…if that happens, Tutte might just put us on the front foot against a Dons side who know how to utilise space and can certainly attack and finish.

Though we got the win on Saturday, it was a far from convincing performance and tactically, yes it paid off but I would argue that MK Dons are a much shrewder side than Swindon and I worry that if we set up the same (and I think Brass will) we might just get picked off.

Will post final thoughts/selections after teams announced but like the look of two with the former being an obvious choice and the latter being more speculative:

    BTTS…8/13
    BTTS 1ST HALF…3/1

    Good luck today ?

  17. nathanufton 7 years ago

Posting this a bit early because I’m knackered and sleep is way out.

For those who watched the highlights of the Derby V Bristol match in the first half, Bristol made us look like Bury’s academy under 9’s reserve team. They cut us apart and by 30 mins, we were 2 down and McClaren had removed himself from the stands and onto the touchline – That’s always a big big sign he’s not happy. He subbed off Bryson and Johnson, brought in Butterfield and Anya, swapped from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1. It took us till the break and another goal put past Carson to realise we were playing sh*t !!!
I nearly turned off the radio, it was that bad, but I stuck with it. Dunno what was said at ht, but something clicked. Derby got a goal just after ht, then Bristol cut us apart again and Bristol on had a 1 yard tap in to make it 4-1 and somehow spooned it over the bar. With 30 mins left on the clock, Derby never took their foot off the gas until the final whistle came. We got a 2nd from an Ince header, then late on, got a dubious penalty. Bent hit it too hard for the keeper to save it and it ended all square at 3-3. How we got out of that mess is a mystery, but 50 odd mins of football at the start gave us an absolute mountain to climb and maybe a few more minutes of injurytime and you’d of put your shirt on us to grab a winner.

Onwards to tonight where we entertain Cardiff. Prior to the last match, I’d of said we’re a soe-in for 9 pts all from the next 3 matches. Bristol exposed our frailties and Cardiff also got a great win against Leeds. ( Can’t help but feel that was more about Neil Warnock making a point to Leeds rather than anything else ) – BUT, it was an away win at Leeds – No easy feat.

I still think that the last match was a wake up call to the rams and I think McClaren is working on Plan B’. Surely everyone has figured out our 4-3-3 and that is why we are struggling.
We’re joint 2nd tightest defence in the league behind Brighton and Newcastle, but we’re scoring less frequently. Bent has upped his game and is a regular addition to the scoresheet as opposed to where most pre-new year goals were coming from ( Ince ). Bent must be eyeing up 20+ this season, and I think he’ll do it.
Derby have become a much more dangerous side in the 2nd half and I think this match will be won in the 2nd half. Cardiff stats in the last 45 are bordering on relegation dogfight standard, so they concede a good chunk in the 2nd half. ( fitness levels or lack of squad depth? ).
I did take a look at the 21/20 for the Derby win but after Cardiff’s last match, they may have a bit of a swagger in their step. Instead, I will be dropping onto the over 1.5 Derby goals with bet365 @ 6/5.
I shall be doubling that up with a Fulham win.

70% of Derby’s games have gone under 2.5 tmg’s, but I have a sneaky suspicion that the rams could end this match with either a 2 nil or a narrow 2-1. 2-3 total match goals – very probable – unless we turn up 50 minutes late like the last match, then it could be another high scoring match. I don’t think we’ll make the same mistake 2 matches on the bounce though.

It’s make or break time for everyone in the season in the championship, and with it being very tight at the top end ( and bottom ) some rise to the challenge, some don’t. I hope we use it as a springboard.

    Best of luck folks.

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

How very dare you Nathan Upton – have reported you to Admin for ‘team bullying’ ??

    • nathanufton 7 years ago

Lol. I had a sneaky suspicion you might bite…… Reel em’ in !!! All in good jest mate, but seriously, we were shocking in the first half.
I did notice Bury won their last match though before I posted, or is it that Bury don’t have an under 9’s reserve side?? Or is their under 9’s reserve side their 2nd best 11??

Anyway, banter aside, I’m wondering what you guys think of my Derby overs 1.5 goals @ 6/5 and doubling up with the Fulham to beat the not so mighty Forest. Norwich thumped them 5-1 at the weekend and Fulham are 3/5 to beat them. Fulham should have them done and dusted with spare I’d say.

      both prices with bet365.

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Haha – all taken in good spirit Nathan. I played against Bury Juniors U13s many moons ago and was marked (and played off the park) by a certain Phil Neville. Finished 1-5 and scored our penalty consolation after being flattened by the then massive younger Neville brother.

Like the look of your bets – fancy goals in Fulham’s game.

      Good luck pal.

Hi cockerspaniel it’s a bet for small stakes that can give big returns if they all come up, I’ve had good success with it over long periods. At the same stake 1 treble from 7 attempts should see you break even. However you can get long periods when you get no return so you have to be prepared for that.

    Millwall.

Both home teams look very solid and skybet playing 2/1 for the double.

As we know Mansfield playing very well at the moment winning seven out of last eight. Millwall are strong at home and I’d fancy them to cruise home against a poor traveling port vale team.

    Double 2/1 – 3 points

    Morning gents

It’s all about fine margins and luck and sadly it was fine margins last night with the city game falling a goal short

On to tonight and it’s full card time in England – quite a few I have marked out for over 2.5 goals

    *****************************

    Norwich v Newcastle 43/40
    Fulham v Forest 3/5
    Notts County v Exeter 1/1

These are all backable as singles – Struggling to narrow down a NAP so going to post as an over 1.5 match goals treble and and over 2.5 match goals treble

Over 1.5 match goals treble 11/10
Over 2.5 match goals travel 11/2

    ***************************

Motherwell u20 to beat Saints u20
    Luton to beat Hartlepool

    Double pays 7/5

      Hey Greg,

What do you reckon on the over 2.5 double in Scotland at 2pm
Partick vs Ross looks a banker but what do you reckon on the Hibs Inverness?
Recent goals form with +16 vs -16 GD also says banker but H2H is a bit mixed.

Bristol Rovers V Sheffield utd btts 8/13

Rovers have a strong home record and have only failed to score at home on one occasion which was a 0-0 draw. Sheffield utd have only managed 2 clean sheets on the road at p’boro and Shrewsbury.

    P”boro V Shrewsbury
    Shrewsbury +0.5 tgs 4/9
    Shrewsbury +1 20/21
    Shrewsbury win 16/5

Shrewsbury are way over priced imo in this game. They are unbeaten in 6 and have scored in 9 of their last 10 away games. P”boro have only managed 2 clean sheets at home this season

Always try and keep an eye on any International Youth games just to monitor squads and players coming through the ranks.

The TIA (Torneio Internacionale Algarve) is played out annually in Portugal between European Youth set-ups.

Germany take on Portugal at 15.00 with the former winning 5-0 this time last year but with many players different and Portugal looking stronger, not sure we’ll see a repeat – goals however may well be a different kettle of fish.

Both have played 2 games so far with the hosts seeing a 2-1 and 2-0 win whilst ze Germans openers have resulted in a 3-2 loss and a 2-2 draw.

I was considering going with Mansfield as well today as on current form they look a decent bet but looking at the H2H it doesn’t make for good reading

In 11 previous league meetings between them and Accrington, Mansfield have yet to record a win and have lost the last 4 encounters when on home soil.
Mansfield’s only win came in an FA cup tie in 07/08

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

I prefer to go with form than h2h – the h2h doesn’t really concern me with this one.

Evans assessed squad and ripped it up with financial backing from owner, thus improvement in form and results. If you are a h2h fan, obviously this won’t help! Good luck whatever way all analysis games!?

Plenty to choose from tonight and hopefully there will be plenty of goals around to boot. I’ve picked out three sides who I think are more than fairly priced by the bookies. All three sides often score at home and are visited by three sides that love to let one or two in on the road. What could possibly go wrong. ;)

    AFC Wimbledon
    Stevenage
    Guiseley

    O0.5 Team Goals Treble @ 47/50 (Coral)
    _________________________________

I really liked the look of both sides scoring between Benfica and Dortmund but the price has since shortened to about 3/4. That wasn’t enough to tempt me to take it as a single but I will have a punt on it paired up with the same outcome at Carlisle. Doncaster have been keeping a few clean sheets as of late but Carlisle rarely fail to net. BTTS has come up in 11 of the last 12 Carlisle home games in all competitions, so let’s hope that continues this evening.

Sticking with Exeter tonight and expecting goals in this game. Notts county have been very solid at home since the turn of the year and are scoring a fair amount of goals at home. Exeter were put in their place by Devon rivals Argle on Saturday. But are generally good for a goal away from home.

XV DE PIRACICABA VS. GUARANI (22.00 KO):

Quick write up but this one looks to have pretty sound claims.

Guarani have seen 9 of their last 11 hit the 3+ goal mark whilst 5 of Piracicaba’s last 7 have done the ‘Over 2.5’ business.

H2H’s? Neither recent nor particularly relevant but 3 of the last 5 have seen 3 or more goals with 4 of the 5 seing both teams scoring.

Fulham, Sheff Weds and Huddersfield all to win + over 1.5 match goals. Comes in comes in at about 7/1 @ Paddy Power.

Nice little winner on a tricky mmidweek night.

Didn’t need to look further than @gregbrowning and @jordan tonight – had 2 points Gregs O1.5 treble and 2 points on the O2.5 treble and 4 points on Jordan’s double (added Preston to score). Thanks guys just under 17 points of profit in one night is pretty amazing.

      Nice one mate.

      Great darts @gregbrowning

Unlucky Mr F. Horrible to see Mansfield score 4 and only get a point.
