THERE aren't masses of top-flight games on the go on Friday but look at some of the big names in action.
We have the likes of PSG, PSV, AC Milan and Bruges plus games in the Football League, Bundesliga, La Liga and a full card of lower-league Dutch and French matches.
So let's start with the best team in action and that's PSG who look unstoppable in the race for the title and can storm eight points clear of Monaco.
Laurent Blanc's side are no bigger than 1-5 at McBookie to see off third-bottom Valenciennes and should do so. Valenciennes are the only side to win at Monaco this season and picked up a morale-boosting win against Nice last week so statistically best bet could be both to score at 8-13 at Paddy Power.
PSG have kept just one clean sheet in five while Valenciennes have netted on their last six league visits to the capital – picking up four score draws.
However, PSG are a stronger side these days and of course possess a goal machine in the shape of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The 30-goal Swedish striker has hit 11 in 11 games and is 9-4 at William Hill and Coral to net the opener.
I can't see PSG slipping up here and kick off the treble with them at -1 even though Lyon let me down on a similar bet last night – but that was cup football.
In Serie A, AC Milan haven't improved much under news boss Clarence Seedorf and face a tough test against a Bologna side who have moved on since bringing in Davide Ballardini as coach.
Milan have won one in four and their display at Napoli last week was panned. Seedorf signed Adil Rami, Michael Essien, Keisuke Honda and Adel Taarabt in the window and all could start for the first time.
Milan are no bigger than 2-5 at Ladbrokes and it looks short against a side with one defeat in five. With the home men scoring and conceding consider over 2.5 goals at 8-11 with Ladbrokes. That's part two of the treble.
PSV have beaten Heracles 4-0, 4-1, 5-2, 4-0 and 4-0 in their last five meetings in Eindhoven. They can be backed to win at 4-11 with Coral and 11-4 to score four or more with anyone brave enough. For the treble simply take PSV to win.
In the Bundesliga there's not much to separate Mainz and Hannover. However, I watched Hannover lose 2-0 at Schalke last weekend on ITV4's excellent highlight show and it could have been five or six.
With Mainz boosted by the return from suspension of key defender Nikolce Noveski they could edge this one and are 1-1 at Coral.
Drop rivals Elche and Osasuna face off in La Liga and it promises to be tight and tense. There have been just three first-half goals at the Martinez Valero since the end of October so consider a half-time stalemate at 11-10 with Coral.
For the Super Single I thought about Mainz or btts at AC Milan which pays a best 11-10 at McBookie. But I've no messing and I'm on the big man to show us some love on Valentine's Day.
Ibrahmovic has won us plenty on the past so I'm on him to score first.
I spent a bit of time sorting out the Johnb situation this morning and now have to crack on with my weekend Record column so time for reasoning but my over 2.5 goals line has been well researched and stands up to the stats.

I had blown a near four figure amount on a game which scarred me for life.
I enjoy betting has a hobby and although losing money is not fun my losses have approximated to around £125 a month which isn’t ideal but life goes on. We live and we learn.
I rarely drink, don’t do drugs, and one thing that I do feel guilty about is not spending time doing other things instead of betting but I do get enjoyment from it.
Maybe I speak for a lot of people on here or maybe their reasons are different to mine but I won’t be going back down the road I went down last year.

Every previous head to head had both teams to score. Although personally I try to only look at H2H for the last year or so – just think about the difference of Man U a year ago.
Chester scored at home in 6 of the last 7 and they played teams both higher and lower in the league. They also conceded every game.
Halifax conceded away in 6 of 7. They also scored away in 5 of 7 recent games. The 2 games they didn’t score were against Tamworth and Wrexham. If I had time I might look into the defensive records of these teams – they may just be very solid at the back.

tur, you don’t need a coupon. You can do a double chance bet in most shops – they will give you the odds. You’re not restricted to what’s on the coupons in shops.
Whats the advantage, if any, of going into a shop? Better odds than online?
tur, I also don’t have an online account and am a shop punter. Like Mr F says, you can usually get a price at the counter using a plain slip if the bet you fancy doesn’t appear on the shop’s coupon. The best time to do that, if you have time, is before noon when the staff aren’t overly busy and won’t be too stressed taking the time to phone for a quote for your odds. They’re usually pretty helpful. After all it’s what they are there for. Just get them at a quiet time when they’re not too busy.

This looks, on paper, to be a perfect opportunity for Dordrecht to extend their lead at the top of the table in style. I’m going to take Dordrecht over 2.5 team goals at the excellent price of 5/4.
DOUBLE:
The first part of the double comes from the Jupiler League again at it’s De Graafschap v Volendam over 2.5 goals. 11 of De Graafschap’s 13 home matches this season have gone over 2.5 goals whilst 10 of Volendam’s 12 away matches this season have also gone that way. Over 2.5 goals pays 4/7. The second part comes from arguably the biggest match of the evening – PSG v Valenciennes. 7 of PSG’s last 8 home matches have gone over 2.5 goals and 7 of Valenciennes’s last 8 away matches have gone over 2.5 goals. PSG should have far too much firepower for their opponents here but since they’ve scored in 7 of their last 8 away matches, they could score themselves so over 2.5 seems a good bet at 8/15. AC v Bologna
I fancy a draw tomorrow. AC have not impressed me as much as Bologna over last 6 games. DB is tactically astute, more so than Seedorf, and DBs tactics were superb v Napoli first 45.
Bologna are fighting for survival and they should not be where they are. This will have them determined not to go away with nothing. I fancy this game will not have them missing Diamanti so much as it will be Ac attack attack with Bologna on the counter. Unlikely Bologna will be interested in dominating midfield.
AC big problem is slow defence and this 4231 Seedorf formation is not helping them. A poor defence with 4231 needs a strong attacking line to score more than they concede- not sure Milans attacking line is so strong or consistent aa yet.
It was a draw earlier this season 3-3 and a couple more draws in last 4 years against a stronger AC side than they have now. 2012 Bologna got a 1-1 in the San Siro v a Ibra led Milan, with Thiago Silva, Flamini and Seedorf. Milan will also have an eye on Champions League and wont want any injuries to cause more concern.
Yet even though AC remain clear favourites, I fancy an upset if Bologna do what I expect.

Been a mixed season for PSV, usually at the top end of the Eredivisie.. They’ve struggled away from home this season but been very dominate at home, only lost 1 game this season.

Always goals in this league and Dordrecht are great at home, averaging 2.83 goals a game at home.. I fancy there to be goals in this one.

Creteil I’ve watched a few times this season and they are actually great to watch, really have a go and it shows with the goals but also with the number they score and concede.

Cilic just won the title in Zagreb last week and has carried that form into Rotterdam, dismissing Rosol and Tsonga with ease in straight sets in the first two rounds here. Murray should edge this, but he is stills feeling his way back after shoulder surgery and was pushed close by querrey last week and dropped a set to the inexperienced youngster dominic thiem in the last round here. Cilic hasn’t dropped a set in 7 matches so looks good to at least take murray to a third.

I think this game will see goals but i like the look of Walsall DNB at 6/5. Posh will really come at us looking for revenge after we murdered them live on Sky at our place and that could play right into our hands with the counter attack. Personally, I hate score lines. I think the odds of getting it right are so small there’s just no point.
BUT I recently joined skybet to take advantage of their £5 weekly bet club. However, I also noticed they do a weekly “super sixes” competition.
It is entirely free, all you need is a sky bet account. There is no need to deposit into the account!!! I am yet to deposit a penny into my sky bet account.
Every weekend they pick 6 premiership games you have to guess the scoreline, and submit your guesses before midday Saturday I think it is. If you get all 6 scores correct you get £250,000. If nobody entering the competition submitted 6 correct scores for the day then, and this is interesting, whoever got the most points for their guesses wins £5,000. Every week!
For example let’s say a correct score is 10 points and a correct result e.g. Win/lose/draw is 5 points. If I get only 3 correct scores but the other 3 I got the result correct that’s 45 points – in with a chance for £5000!
Granted, the chances are tiny. And like i said I hate score line betting. But it’s FREE!! Can’t complain. Thought I’d give a heads up.

MAN CITY V CHELSEA CARDS/GOALS/CORNERS
Following up yesterdays post regarding researching teams discipline, corner conceding, awarding and more importantly referee styles I have picked my first goals, cards, corners experiment.
The last time that these 2 met in the league there was 6 cards dished out by Mike Dean, only 1 referee on has dished out more cards on average (based on number of games reffed) this season and that is 2moros ref Phil Dowd. Phil dished out 6 cards on Wed in the Liverpool match and dishes out on average 3.7 cards a game (the average across all refs is 3.03)So I conclude he will dish out over 6 cards 2moro esp as City have the 6th worst discipline this season in prem league (based on cards picked up), Chelsea lie middle ground in 11th
Corners- both these sides rank high here, City rank first in corners gained, Chelsea rank 6th between them they average 13 corners per game, this was shown when they last met when 18 corners were gained. Over 12 corners looks fine to me.
Finally the goals/ team to win market, obv this is a difficult contest to call and as always with Europe coming up in Midweek team news will be vital, am hoping for an open game as goal difference means nothing so am going over 2.5g

They come into this in great shape after beating Twenete 3-2 last weekend and although Heracles are playing o.k I’m sticking with the home team to continue their amazing run in this fixture to make it 10 straight home wins!

Cards- Southampton lie mid table averaging 1.7 cards per game Sunderland slightly higher in 7th place averaging 1.9 cards. so with combined average of 3.6 per game this could be either under 4 or 4-6 so will let the man in the middle influence this one…up steps Mike Dean with his 3.5 card average, way above the average 3.03 cards per game so am looking at 4-6 cards.
Again the result is tough to call I feel Sunderland have bigger fish to fry this year so am taking Southampton.

For Catlans Morgan Escare has been given the number 1 jersey after impressive debut season. Brett Webb the ex Leeds Rhino’s was the starter, but Escare with 19 tries in 20 games deserves his chance. Allsports, I had a look at him but his stats from NRL didn’t show him to be a prolific scorer. For the first two weeks or so I will most likely stick to try scorers and players I know, then as the season progress and get to see more matches, some lesser known names may come to the fore. Don’t think you can knock anyone for going Ibra first scorer in a PSG match at home. That said, in my honest opinion 2/1 is poor value.
Neil, 2-1 wasn’t great but that’s the way it’s with top strikers. Probably 50-50 that he scored first so 2-1 better than that.
My BTTS ACCA was let down once more by just the one goal. A polish game this time, which never really looked like getting any goals until a red card and a penalty. That game was the least likely of them all to come in according to the odds, though the stats suggested it was possible.

You can look at stats and apply reasoning as to an outcome of a match overall, but you can never say that one man out of a team will score before any other.
I’ve taken Greg’s O1.5 goals for Peterboro, as the stats point to that. They’ve not had a shot on target but the stats still pointed to O1.5 goals.
Mr F or anyone else who knows their Scottish football, who do you think are the best shout to win in the SPL tomorrow? Going to have a go on the McBookie special offer but you need to back one of the Scottish games. I’ve narrowed it down to Dundee United, Aberdeen or Motherwell, but would be nice to hear other opinions on it.

That was still a very good bet Oor Man. You called it right, even game, and a very wise lay bet on Milan. Timed it perfectly too. Dunno if it was a tremendously profitable night or not but IMO this is excellent betting work. Played it very well.
And as I said, never rule out an undeserved Milan winner. Very glad I got on, particularly after calling PAOK yesterday in-play, delaying my bet to HT and them scoring just before HT. Sometimes you really need to follow your gut instinct!

I find I quite often pick out 4 or 5 then flag up the wrong one. Maybe when the site changes I’ll do a Dane-type staking plan with 4 or 5 singles.

IMO it’s all about the odds. Something can be 4/1 and terrible value, while something could be 8/11 but great value. And vice versa. It’s all about offering odds that are too long for the event. That IMO would be what I class as a super single. It’s why I passed on the Ibra bet. Yes, Ibra is obviously a good bet to score first but 2/1 for FGS is awful value IMO.

Neil just had at look at both teams form, looks a good bet, I was thinking of getting on over 2.5 and doubling it up with something tomorrow but instead of chasing tonight’s losses I’ll wait and see what tomorrow brings! Good luck!
