IT'S the day many people have been waiting for all week – the day Hibs go to Rangers and are expected to land a gamble that started when the Edinburgh side were 7-2.
Hibs are now a best 9-4 at McBookie and BetVictor to hand Rangers a third successive defeat and to beat the Ibrox men for the third time this season.
Anything can happen in football but for me Hibs look a great bet and I'll have a separate preview on the game which is live on BT Sport.
On Thursday I put up a Daily Double and advised Hibs as a 2.5pts Super Single at 9-4. Genk failing to score beat it while Brest plus one came in.
My Super Single on Friday is Hibs to score 2+ goals at 11-8 with Skybet and it must have a chance. They've won 4-0 and 3-1 against Rangers this season.
I'll put up other tips on Friday afternoon if I get a chance after writing my weekend Daily Record columns.
Marseille should beat Reims in Ligue One and Borussia Dortmund can build on last weekend's success at Freiburg by adding three points at home to Mainz. In Spain Davie Moyes's Real Sociedad travel to Almeria and in Holland PSV are expected to win at AZ.
As usual there are stacks of lower-league games to look at and goals are likely to be on the menu again in the Jupiler League.

I have already tipped Hibs to avoid defeat in a double with Hearts to win at around 6/5. What I won’t do is tip Hibs to win this game although they are capable of doing so but has anyone considered the actual stats and form? Rangers are 1 point ahead of Hibs but have played 3 games less, Rangers 10 home games have yielded 22 points whereas Hibs have 19 points from 11 away games, Rangers have won their last 3 home games in the league and conceded only 1 goal. Hibs are a reasonable side who can score goals but they constantly flatter to deceive and drew 2 of their last 3 home league games against Falkirk and Raith. Can Hibs win? Yes, are they nailed on as everyone seems to think? No they are not as the league table etc shows you clearly. Rangers are a mess but Hibs are very unreliable so tread carefully.

Marseille are available at 2/5 at Stan James for anyone looking for outright win best odds.
It’s the H2H more than anything that pushes me towards Hibs. The 3-1 victory came after they had started the season poorly, and it was McDowell in charge when they pummeled them 4-0.
On recent form i’d take Hibs aswell. They do draw a fair few games, but they’ve only lost once in 90 minutes in their last 21 games. Rangers have lost 6 of their last 11, and although 5 of them were away from home they haven’t beaten any top sides in that run.
Saying all that, Rangers have scored in every home game this season and it has been almost 2 years since they last drew a blank at Ibrox. Hibs have only kept 2 away clean sheets in the league all season. So for a bit more interest, i’m going to have a small stake on Hibs to Win and BTTS (9/2 with Coral).
Lets hope Glasgow doesnt get the weather this evening that we are getting here in N. Ireland or it could have an effect on the bets.Very strong winds and heavy rain.

hasheyb, as a Hearts fan I don’t think raaljaca can bring himself to tip Hibs. However, he’s right to advise caution – despite my optimism it’s level stakes for me and nothing daft like Hibs -2 which I hear is being well backed. No one should “lump” on Hibs and bookies still believe Rangers will win. If Rangers dig out a performance and result tonight fair play to them – it will have come from nowhere but they have the players who can do well. They just haven’t been doing it.
Mr F I would have no problem tipping Hibs to win as I gamble with my head and do it very successfully as you know I just see my Hibs double chance tip with Hearts to win as a decent bet. I never let allegiances blind me when beating bookmakers. Hibs can and may well win and I would be delighted if they did as it would be a fantastic result for all of us who are awaiting large pay days from Hearts.

The injury news is actually good for Rangers. Simonsen, Foster and McCulloch have been poor. Expect to see two of Zaliukas, Faure and Sinnamon into defence. Also think young Murdoch might get a run out tonight in midfield. Vuckic is potentially a level above most tonight and took his goal well on Sunday, will be on him to net again.

Danny, I do think Hibs can win this and hope they do mate but they have a horrendous record for failing to deliver when they are perceived as good things. Caution is the word in these kind of games as Stubbs would settle for a draw without doubt.
Raal-why would Stubbs settle for a draw when they can leap frog Rangers into second place? Surely that must now be their aim to avoid an extra play off game at the end of the season. If anything Rangers will settle for a draw as it keeps them there.

There are 2 today that the database thinks the bookies have wrong in a big way (statistically speaking anyway):
The first is in the Turkish second tier: Karsiyaka DOUBLE CHANCE @1.83 BET365 (figures it should be @1.44).
The second is Mainz DOUBLE CHANCE at Dortmund @3.40 BET365 (it gives it @1.95). I don’t fancy this one much personally, as I think it’s just a matter of time before Dortmund pull themselves out of trouble. They showed this last week at Freiburg… BUT… They are down there for a simple reason – they haven’t won many games this season.
Anyhow, these are just to point you in a possible direction to look into yourselves.

Since the 29th September when the teams last met at Ibrox, Hibernian have 1 defeat in 17 Championship games. Rangers have 4 defeats in 14 games and a couple of recent defeats in the cups which I only mention because of their general form going into this fixture. Not many games are forgone conclusions however I just cannot see Hibernian losing tonight. It will take a huge storm and 300 Spartans along with some divine intervention for Rangers to win! Rangers have not shown this season that they are able to mix it with the big boys. My main bets are on Hibs DC and DNB but as I posted last night I am also on the -1AH which was as high as 17/4 when contrasted with 4-1 for the straight handicap. I am more than prepared to take that risk. I believe it is more probable that Hibs will win as opposed to Rangers. My view is based on what I have seen of both teams thus far. We have already got the injury news. Stubbs will be assured whereas the Rangers management and fans are in disarray. Hibs have an incentive to leap frog Rangers into second and put some pressure on them. Ultimately Hibs have the pace to worry the back line of Rangers which will be the key tonight. Hibs have already beaten them twice this season and anyone backing Rangers is doing so in hope I believe rather than in expectation that they will win. That’s my view on the game. Hibs are worth backing to win with sensible stakes with a form of cover so that we don’t lose money. If Rangers win tonight they will do so by virtue of playing out of their skins or a bizarre sequence of events. If they win I will be the first to applaud them. Let the Valentine’s day massacre commence!
I realise everyone is mad on a Hibs win tonight (I have had them in Raal’s double) but the odds that are set right now are pretty much bang on with what the stats say.
I guess what I am saying is, yes, Hibs are in great shape and yes, Rangers aren’t but win/loss records and many other factors have to be taken into account before people put too much money on this.
Also, anyone who got 7/2 earlier in the week could trade out now for a decent profit, before a ball is kicked!

My question to you is – Has anyone ever used the technique of betting teams 4/5 days ahead, preferably aways as their odds are higher, that are expected to drop considerably and making money off the cash out? Also would this method work for Antepost as Bet365 offer cashout on Antepost.
Example –
Chelsea were 16/1 to win the champions league at the beginning of the season. They are now 7/1 so they have dropped 9 points after the group stage. Everyone will agree that they would get through the group stage easily enough. At season beginning dropping big stake singles on teams to win certain competitions at decent odds knowing they will progress (not nessesary winning the full tournment) and cashing out for easy money.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Yes Im doing that with Arsenal for the champions leauge.Betting now before monaco who they should overcome comfortably. The odds will shorten for arsenal to win the competition and with a bit of luck they might get a decent quarter final draw.

Porto at 50/1 with a draw against Basel. Surely if they win and before the Quarter final draw there will be a cashout option or even pray that they get a favourable draw. Know they wont win the tournament but could make a quick buck if this method works.

My knowledge of Scottish football is nowhere near yours guys. I haven’t even ever been to Scotland :) but the way I see Rangers vs. Hibs is that you can throw all the previous stats out of the window.
From my perspective this game is so special for both teams that previous league results will not have any significant impact on tonight’s match.
If I was to select a team, I would go with Hibs win but it will be a no bet for me. The game can very easily (too easily) go in every direction possible.

A word of warning with Cashout on B365 at the moment. The last couple of days I’ve noticed that there seems to be something very wrong with overs and unders cashout.
For example, at the moment I have a bet on for o4.5 goals (when the score was 2-1) in a match where I placed £30 at 8/11. With
55 mins to go the score is now 3-1 and the cashout offered is £7.41 (but the cover of under 4.5 goals is 4/1).
It proves why you should always cover manually – even with their usual premium in this is way below what I’d expect (I suspect there’s a problem with the maths somewhere behind the system).

Dortmund have been shocking all season and one good result does not mean a resurgence – QPR won away this week, how long before they do that again.
