IT'S Champions League week but before the big games kick there are three matches in La Liga and Serie A to look at plus on in League Two.

Let's start in Spain with Real Sociedad v Sevilla. Bookies surpisingly make the visitors favourites despite losing four and drawing two of their last six.

Sociedad on the other hand have looked impressive at home, only losing to Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia, and scoring 12 goals in their last five. They have lost only two of their last 10 games – both to Madrid clubs.

Sevilla have lost five of their last six away. In the defeats they've conceded 15 without scoring, including 5-0 defeats at Barcelona and Real Madrid. The sole success came against bottom dogs Zaragoza.

New boss Michel has come in to try to restore order but will need time and it's been just two points from 21 for the stricken side.

It's likely to be close but Sociedad look too big at a best 13-8 at Skybet and BetVictor to take the points.

In Serie A there are two games, Siena v Roma and Napoli v Chievo. Let's start in Siena where I don't see the home men being beaten.

They are a biggest 23-10 with William Hill but I'd try draw at 9-4 (Ladbrokes) or Siena plus one at 8-13 with Ladbrokes.

Roma thumped Inter 4-0 on their last outing but before that they were thumped 4-2 in Cagliari and don't look great value at 11-8 with bet365 and BetVictor, especially as key man Daniele de Rossi will be missing.

Siena are strong at home, conceding just eight goals in 10 games, and they showed that strength by beating Napoli in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semis.

Napoli are just 8-15 with BetVictor and Paddy Power to beat Chievo at home and while that price is a bit skinny they should be good enough.

Chievo, who have won their last three against the Naples men, are 13-2 at William Hill with the draw 3-1 (various).

In England Southend travel to Gillingham for what looks a must-win game. Paul Sturrock gave his players the full hairdryer treatment after Friday's defeat at home to Rotherham and that's three losses in four outings.

Southend must get back on track tonight and where better to do it than against a Gillingham side who have lost four in a row.

I'm willing to give Southend one last chance and they are 2-1 at bet365 and BetVictor. Gillingham's last four games have featured 20 goals – including two 4-3 defeats – so consider both to score at 8-13 with bet365 and Coral. And over 3.5 goals is worth a look at 2-1 with William Hill.

George, well done with the treble. I fancied them all pretty strongly but slightly wimped out by taking Siena +1. I did them on the handicap and added Sociedad, Southend and Napoli for a nice fourfold.

    Mr fixit,

Went for a your tip on the BTTS at gillingham.

£5 on BTTS YES Gillingham v Southend 8/15
NO Real Sociedad v sevilla evens
    No Napoli v Chievo 8/11
    No Siena v Roma evens

    Nice wee return of £52.50

David, that’s a decent effort. The no to btts is good value but I hate watching games hoping for no goals, it’s more exciting the other way about. Just posted the btts lines for tomorrow. Looks like a decent card for the market.

    Took Siena +2, Sociedad +1 and Southend +1 with Bastia away, £10 four-fold made me £59.36 :)

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

John, it’s not a bad return for what I would have said was a pretty safe line although Bastia at Monaco was the one that could have let you down.

Spot on Paul. Got the treble up.
Like you I hate ‘no’ on the bts markets.
