YOU know your luck's out when prolific Peterborough let down your goals line – but then that's the beauty of the Carling Cup where form goes out of the window.

Peterborough failed to score for the first time during Gaddafi's reign and one punter emailed to suggest I should steer clear of this market.

He claimed it was  a bookies' bet but I totally refute that. For example, at the start of last season Ladbrokes advertised odds of 400-1 on a tenfold. That was quickly cut to 350-1 but at the beginning of this term you were lucky to be getting 100-1.

The price reductions prove it's a punters' bet and hopefully they'll be paying out on Thursday's Europa League matches.

My selections have come from picking sides who score and concede but I've also taken into account the first-leg result and gone for ones who need to net to have a chance of progressing.

I'm starting with Sevilla v Hannover. The tie in Germany finished 2-1 for the home men so the Spaniards must be the favourites.

Sevilla love this tournament but are likely to walk a tightrope against the Bundesliga men who have started the season in decent shape.

The Spaniard' last five competitive games have featured both to score as have Hannover's previous six. This pays a best 4-5 with Coral.

Next I'm on Spartak Moscow v Legia Warsaw at 11-10 with Paddy Power. Both sides concede as many as they score and there will be plenty of goals if it's as open as the 2-2 first leg.

Bruges and Zestafani finished 3-3 in Georgia so let's hope for more thrills and spills in the second leg.

Zestafani are little known pushed Austrians Sturm Graz all the way in the Champions League qualifiers so definitely pose a threat. You can have 19-20 with Chandler on this one.

Anderlecht start their home tie with a 2-1 lead over a Bursaspor side capable of scoring and who certainly need a goal or two.

The Turks, who featured in the Champions League group stage last season, won't fear a trip to Belgium and I fancy both to score at 1-1 with William Hill.

Finally, I'm completing a fivefold with Panathinaikos v Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Greeks look out after crashing 3-0 in Israel but their pride won't allow them to press forward in the search of goals.

But the gaps they will undoubtedly leave at the back could be exposed by Maccabi and both teams to score looks a shout at 10-11 with William Hill.

Both teams to score

Anderlecht v Bursaspor

Bruges v Zestafoni

Sevilla v Hannover

Spartak Moscow v Legia Warsaw

Panathinaikos v Maccabi Tel Aviv

I sometimes give Mr Fixits both to score a go. Keeps your interest going right to the 90th minute. Suppose its more of a novelty bet that requires a bit of luck. How about that old warhorses Rosenborg at 2/1 today?

Chas, four up out of five gave us a return on Thursday and you’re right the bet is never down to the very end. Good one for armchair fans. My Super Single was AEK Larnaca who are strong at home so I hope you noticed that and shied away from Rosenborg.
