EPL: GOLDEN BOOT BETTING

PICKING a Golden Boot winner is a tough task with so many of the top sides rotating their strikers.

For example, favourite Javier Hernandez (17-2, Hills) will have to fight for a starting slot with Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Danny Welbeck.

Berbatov and Carlos Tevez shared the honours on 21 last season but neither are worth considering this time.

I’d prefer to go with Arsenal’s Robin van Persie or Aston Villa’s Darren Bent. Van Persie netted in all of the Gunners’ away matches in 2011 as he claimed 18 goals but there are question marks over his fitness.

However, he’s worth an each-way gamble at 10-1 with Ladbrokes and Hills.

Bent has finished in the places in the last two seasons, hitting 41 goals for Sunderland and Aston Villa.

He will be Alex McLeish’s main man this season and will be on penalties after the sale of Ashley Young. Back Bent each-way at 12-1 (various).

Best outright prices: Hernandez 17-2, Hills; Rooney 9-1, Hills; van Persie 10-1, Hills, Ladbrokes; Torres 10-1, Hills; Bent 12-1, various; Suarez 14-1, Coral; Aguero 16-1, Hills; Carroll 20-1, Hills; Drogba 20-1, Coral.
