ENGLAND: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE

IAN HOLLOWAY must be the luckiest man in football. He landed at Crystal Palace last week and found he’d taken over a club powering to the top of the table.

Holloway’s debut was marked by a 5-0 thumping of Ipswich with the prolific Glenn Murray bagging another hat-trick and the manager was never defensive in his Blackpool days.

There should be plenty of goals when the leaders head for Peterborough and that kicks off my both teams to score line.

Peterborough have netted six in their last two home games against Derby and Huddersfield and both previous meetings saw both score. Palace have hit 18 in six and you can bet ex-boss Dougie Freedman will be first on Holloway’s Christmas card list.

Championship promotion chasers Cardiff were stunned 5-4 at Charlton in midweek and questions must be asked about their defence. What isn’t in doubt is their home form which is a perfect seven from seven.

The visit of Hull will test Malky Mackay’s men and while they should win I can see the visitors at least scoring on a ground where they won 3-0 last season.

Next try Southend v Port Vale with the visitors starting to leak goals. Vale have conceded eight in five games, including two in each of their last three against Rochdale, Forest Green and Northampton.

Southend on the other hand have hit a bit for form with two successive wins and six goals scored.

Next look at Reading v Norwich in the EPL, more from the point of view that the Royals don’t keep clean sheets. Their last two home games have finished 7-5 against Arsenal (4-4 at 90 minutes) and 2-2 with Fulham.

Norwich aren’t prolific but are in better form after four matches unbeaten and will hope to take something from the game. It was 3-3 when the sides last met and another score draw is a possibility.

Finally, go with Coventry v Scunthorpe in League One. Scunny bounced back well from a 4-0 FA Cup mauling at Gillingham last week to beat Walsall 4-1 away in midweek.

They face a tougher assignment away to a Coventry side with three wins in a row but the Sky Blues’ only clean sheet in five league games came at Orient.

Both teams to score

Peterborough v Crystal Palace

Cardiff v Hull

Southend v Port Vale

Reading v Norwich

Coventry v Scunthorpe

Just out of curiosity, what do you consider a good price and a bad price for a BTTS game?

John, I’d say anything smaller than 8-11 is poor but the price reflects the bookies’ view on whether both teams will score. So you will get better prices such as 5-6, evens and 6-5 for a game they expect no to both teams to score.

in my opinion it all depends on whos playing porto-zagreb on the 20th btts is 6-4 good price if you think zagreb will score which i dont in poland korona-slask at evens looks good price for btts although tend to just stick to the 1-2 4-9 8-15 8-11 and so on more chance of it coming in even though its said to be a market were luck is a factor

Clint, my tips are up. If you want bigger prices on different games you’ll need to dig them out yourself.

Arnie, I liked Betis and Rennes but as has been said Betis were the shorter price and on paper looked a decent bet.

If i ever go near the virtual football again i want you to ban me from this site, it’s an absolute scourge…lol but it’s there for a reason, to tempt idiots like me

John, I don’t get it with the virtual football or virtual racing. I still remember chuckling in the bookies one day as I listened to old guys talking about a virtual card and wondered if might be rained off because it was tipping down outside.

      • john 6 years ago

No more virtual football for me paul, i’m sticking to the live action variety from now on…lol
